National public speaker and original freedom writer Manny Scott spoke to district staff for Convocation at the American Bank Center. He encouraged staff to “be salty” to inspire a thirst for knowledge in students.

Staff came out in matching shirts with pom-poms, posters and school spirit to start the school year strong! #TeamCCISD

Meet the teacher

District gets pallets of school supplies from Operation S.O.S. donations

District staff picked up pallets of school supplies thanks to Operation S.O.S. The United Way and H-E-B are in partnership for the campaign that helps area students get school supplies they need.

Operation S.O.S. runs through August 17. Donations can be made by adding $1, $3 or $7 to your total at H-E-B. Donations can also be made by texting “SOS” to 91999. To make a donation online, click here.

Meet Veronica Moreno!

It is Veronica’s first year teaching with CCISD. She will teach art at C.P. Yeager Elementary School. Veronica enjoys reading, making art, dancing with her cat and making things out of objects she finds.

“I love the idea that my words and actions can help or change another person. I have a master’s degree in art education and have learned that art can not only visually inspire students, but it can help further strengthen their critical thinking skills.”

COVID-19 vaccines

CCISD encourages everyone age 12 and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19. If you received a twodose vaccine, remember to get your second dose! To find an immunization clinic near you, visit Nuecesknows.com.

Myth: If I’ve already had COVID-19, I don’t need the vaccine.

Fact: Early evidence suggests immunity from COVID-19 may not last very long. More studies are needed.
