Convocation: Stronger Together!
District employees represented their district and campus spirit during this year’s Convocation. An array of school colors filled the American Bank Center Arena as staff cheered for their campuses, holding up signs, pom-poms and large letters to spell out their campus.
Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez shared words of encouragement for the upcoming school year, and reflected on district accomplishments of the past year.
Molly Hudgens, a civilian Medal of Honor recipient, was the keynote speaker for the event. She shared her story and reminded district staff that they can make a difference for their students.

In the Board Room: July 31 Board Meeting recap
During the July 31 Board of Trustees Meeting, board members recognized several groups for recent accomplishments. The following were recognized:
• Luke De Los Angeles, Texas State Solo and Ensemble Outstanding Performance Award.
This year, our Above the Line employee of the month winners will include a new category!
Along with our Administration, Auxiliary and Certified/Professional categories, we will also honor substitutes!
Nominations open Aug. 9.
• Texas High School Coaches Association Baseball Academic
All State/Honorable Mention.
• Texas High School Coaches Association Softball Academic
All State.
The board also heard presentations on Career and Technical Education programs and Professional Development.

Houston Elementary teacher honored by Mayor
Sam Houston Elementary teacher
Diana Johnson was honored as the Corpus Christi City Council’s Teacher of the Month in July.

The Mayor presented Mrs. Johnson with a proclamation to commemorate the honor. Johnson was a district teacher of the year finalist in April.
