Help us welcome new teachers who have joined #TeamCCISD! Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez spoke to new teachers about the successes of the district and how to go Above the Line. Teachers also spent time with other educators, principals and district leadership. Board members welcomed new elementary and secondary teachers and thanked them for answering the call to help students be successful.

Meet the teacher

District names campus principals, director Corpus Christi ISD named Prudence Farrell as the new leader for Richard King High school.

Farrell, who has served as principal of Carl O. Hamlin Middle School since 2017, also has been principal of Sam Houston Elementary School as well as an assistant principal at W.B. Ray High School and Roy Miller High School.

The district also named Zonia Lopez as princpial of Zachary Kolda Elementary School. Lopez previously served as principal of Sam Houston Elementary School.

Meet Kamba Lopez!

It is Kamba’s first year teaching with CCISD. The Texas A&M UniversityKingsville graduate will teach 4th grade students at Oak Park Elementary School. During the summer, Kamba enjoyed bike riding, playing tennis, traveling and keeping up with the Olympics. Her favorite sports teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the UT Longhorns.

“When I was in kindergarten, my teacher embodied what a perfect teacher is in my eyes. She was patient, kind, pushed us to learn, and believed in all of her students. I knew I wanted to become a teacher like her.”

A CCISD employee for more than 25 years, her leadership roles have included serving as assistant principal at David Crockett Elementary School and Faye Webb Elementary School.

Celeste Fernandez, who has been Sam Houston Elementary School’s assistant principal, will now lead the campus. In addition to her work at Sam Houston Elementary School, she has served the district as a fifth grade teacher at William B. Travis Elementary School.

Bridget Lamoureux has been named principal of Carl O. Hamlin Middle School.

An assistant principal at Roy Miller High School since 2015, she has also served the district as a dance instructor at Miller and at Wynn Seale Academy.

Mary Boyd has been named Director of Food Services. She succeeds Debora Meador. Boyd previously served as Interim Director and as Food Service Coordinator.
