During the Aug. 14 Board of Trustees meeting, the board recognized several district staff.
The board recognized:
• New district principals and administrators.
• Christina Carrillo, Elementary Teacher of the Year and Top 5 Finalists for ESC Region 2.
• Dr. Cynthia Hopkins, Secondary Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year for ESC Region 2.

Governor sends certificate celebrating Student Technology Service Center
Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent a certificate celebrating the ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of the district Student Technology Service Center. The center opened May 31. Students are employeed at the center and assist in fixing iPads and Chromebooks.
2023 CCISD immunization clinic information
H-E-B will begin their immunization clinic from Monday, Aug. 21 to Friday, Sept. 29. H-E-B will provide flu shots and other vaccines.
Employees and spouses enrolled in the district’s group health plan with Aetna may receive the flu shot, the pneumonia vaccine, shingles vaccine, tetanus booster and the COVID-19 booster from H-E-B at no cost. Bring your Aetna ID card and a completed vaccine consent form to the flu/vaccine clinic. If you do not have your Aetna ID card, register on www.Aetna.com or call 1-888-220-1017.
Cost for vaccines for employees who do not have the district’s group health plan:
• Flu shot- $29.99
• Monovalent (COVID-19) vaccine - Price to be determined.
• Pneumovax 23 vaccine - $127.60
• Tetanus Booster* (Boostrix) - $57.15
• Shingrix Shingles - $218.02 (1 dose - 2 dose series)
*The tetanus booster includes the vaccine that protects from pertussis (whooping cough). Questions? Call the Office of Employee Benefits & Risk Management at 361-695-7210. A schedule of dates and locations is available online.
