Educator receives Barry Manilow Music Educator Award
Former Veterans Memorial High School band director Sean Athey received the Barry Manilow Music Educator Award. The announcement was made during Manilow’s concert in Corpus Christi on Aug. 20.
Athey, now assistant principal at Moody High School, was given a shout out during the concert. Athey was nominated while he served as band director of Veterans Memorial High School. Veterans Memorial will receive $5,000 for new band instruments, and Athey will receive $5,000. Congratulations, Mr. Athey! #CCISDproud

The Corpus Christi ISD District Advisory Team (DAT) is seeking two community, two business and two parent members for the September 2024 - June 2026 term. Our non district DAT members play a vital role in our District Advisory Team. The District Advisory Team is a committee of parents, business and community representatives, teachers, principals, and other district staff.

Carroll High School educator honored as Teacher of the Month
Corpus Christi City Council recognized Carroll High School English Teacher Ashley Love during Tuesday’s meeting.
Mrs. Love was presented with a commendation and a gift card. Her commendation read in part, “Her success is mirrored in the relationships she has built with her students who continue to seek her guidance and support, as they progress in their academic journeys.” #CCISDproud
Volunteer for Operation K.E.Y.S.
Volunteers are needed for the 2024 Operation K.E.Y.S. - Keeping Every Youth In School Walk! Operation K.E.Y.S. is a dropout recovery walk in which volunteers work together to visit the homes of out-of-school youth and reconnect them with educational opportunities. The Operation K.E.Y.S. Walk will be held on Saturday, September 21 at the Moody HS Cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon. The K.E.Y.S. Phone Bank will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5 in the CCISD Board Room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign up to volunteer for the K.E.Y.S. Walk and Phone Bank online. #ThePowerWithin
