APRIL
TeachersCongratulations, of the Year!
Yeehaw! Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year winners, Maria Alvarado, Zavala Elementary School, and Jane Lee-Rhodes, Kaffie Middle School.
On April 10, district officials and the Board of Trustees celebrated the winners and all campus Teachers of the Year during the Boots & Bling-themed event.
Each teacher was wrangled in to receive a certificate and take a photo with Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. Guests also got to take a look into the classrooms of each of the winners.
“Part of what is special about education careers is that your work, undeniably, has a positive, lasting impact,” Dr. Hernandez said. “Teachers literally change our world for the better, by helping our students gain the knowledge and skills they need to go out in the world and be change-makers.”

Gyzenia Tucker, Senior Administrative Assistant to Principal, Club Estates Elementary School
Mrs. Tucker’s dedication is truly inspiring. Her proactive actions, like making phone calls and sending emails to ensure support for the teacher, student and their family, truly showcase her committment to creating a caring and inclusive enviornment. Whether it’s taking ownership of beautification projects or rallying a team when needed, her dedication to enhancing our environment is remarkable and appreciated by all.

Ms. Rodriguez’s collaborative spirit and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on our team. By actively engaging in collaborative discussions and offering innovative ideas, she contributes significantly to the continuous improvement of our SPED department and the overall educational experience of our students. Her proactive mindset and effective leadership are invaluable assets to our school community.

Imelda Garcia, Long-Term Substitute, Fannin Elementary School
Mrs. Garcia is a model of Fannin values and is dedicated to student success. She has ensured students were prepared for STAAR testing by coming to campus on district planning days. She has also stayed after school to ensure materials were prepared for student success. Students love Mrs. Garcia and she has quickly become part of the Eagle family.
Mrs. Davis recently filled in as a teacher at Driscoll Middle School as an effort to bring support to students and staff. This isn’t the first time she has assisted a campus. Not only do our kids benefit from an amazing teacher, but she also works to strengthen the Language Arts departments while she is there. We appreciate her taking the time to step out of her role to support the kids of Driscoll.
