Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez recently announced the November Above the Line employees. Three honorees were surprised at their work locations with the announcement they had been selected. Nominations are always open for Above the Line employee recognitions. Nominate an outstanding employee today! Administrator - Sarah Owen, Assistant Principal, Carl O. Hamlin Middle School “Mrs. Owen values the success of our teachers. When they are successful, our students are successful. When teachers are struggling with finding ways to get our students engaged, she works alongside that teacher, offering strategies and helping the teacher develop and implement them. She just recently worked very closely with a great teacher who was challenged by balancing virtual and face-to-face students. Mrs. Owen empowered this teacher to build on her strengths. Mrs. Owen leads by her example. She believes in developing to teachers to become leaders of their classrooms.” Auxiliary - Maria Penn, Head Custodian, Roy Miller High School “Mrs. Penn and the custodial crew go above and beyond and respond to any needs of the building. The custodial crew is an integral part of the Buc team, making the building inviting and welcoming for staff, students, and community, all with a pleasant attitude and smile on their faces. Mrs. Penn, as the head custodian, sets this tone for her team. With everything she does, along with her crew, it is a “together we succeed” mentality. Custodial duties play an essential part of campus environment and safety. Mrs. Penn is a great leader of her team and an imperative part of our Buc team.” Educator - Casey Pyle, Health Science Teacher, Mary Carroll High School “Mr. Pyle has been our instructional technology power house! We are so fortunate to have him on our team as we transitioned to this virtual learning environment literally overnight. He has a way of helping our staff that is super comforting and empowering. He creates time in his busy schedule to not only provide the best, rigorous instruction for his students, but to have one-on-one support and training for teachers. There simply are not enough words to explain our appreciation for all that he has done. He has truly been a driving and motivating force on our campus.”
