Carroll High School teacher named H-E-B Excellence in Education finalist A team of H-E-B Excellence in Education officials along with district administration rushed into Deanna Evans’ classroom Monday. This visit came with good news. Ms. Evans had been named a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Finalist in the Rising Star Secondary category. Evans, a special education teacher at Carroll High School, was also surprised with a $1,000 reward for the finalist designation. The money will go toward a sensory hallway for the campus, she said after the surprise. Winners will be announced in May. Congratulations, Ms. Evans!
