JOIN US FOR #TEACHERSCAN AND #THANKATEACHER As teachers across the state continue adapting their teaching methods to support all students in a remote learning environment, a new initiative is providing Texans the opportunity to show their appreciation for these dedicated educators. The #TeachersCan initiative encourages Texans to thank both current teachers as well as those who had a profound impact on their lives by entering their favorite educators into a drawing. Nominated teachers and educators will be automatically entered into a drawing for a host of exclusive prizes, with winners announced daily during a special week-long virtual National Teacher Appreciation Week celebration May 4-8.

Those who can adapt to a new way of working overnight, teach.

EMAIL ETIQUETTE During this challenging time when everyone is experiencing extra stress, it is more important than ever to remember that email messages don’t do a good job of expressing tone. A message you think is efficient may unintentionally come across as rude! Always be courteous and kind when communicating by email. Your coworkers will appreciate it!

Did you know CCISD provides online learning through Hoonuit for all District employees?

You can access all kinds of courses by going to it.ccisd.us and clicking on the Hoonuit button. To log in, use your active directory credentials, which are the same username and password you use every day to log in to your CCISD account or computer.

Hoonuit is now providing a “Teaching in a Virtual Classroom” course providing information on: • Engage your virtual student audiences more effectively.

• Develop stronger and more intentional physical and vocal presence for class presentations.

• Make more authentic, trusting connections with remote students.

• Deliver more engaging virtual presentations.

• Facilitate more successful student interactions.

UPDATES FROM HUMAN RESOURCES Q: In the midst of COVID-19, are employees still being required to have a biometric screening done in 2020?

A: Yes. In order to continue the discount of $60 per month, employees and spouses covered by the district’s health plan will be required to have the biometric screening completed and Primary Care Form submitted by October 31.

Q: Where can I find the Primary Care Form?

A: Employees can find the Primary Care Form on the district’s Human Resources – Employee Benefits website under Wellness and Forms at https://www. ccisd.us/HumanResources/EmployeeBenefits Q: What if I am not comfortable going to the doctor for this type of appointment right now?

A: The deadline to complete the biometric screening process has been extended through October 31, however, if employees prefer to use a telemedicine option, RediMD is available at no cost. RediMD can be reached at 1.866.989.2873.

Q: When are teacher contracts being sent out?

FRIENDLY REMINDER

Please respect your co-workers’ privacy. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s the law! Please do not share health information, and definitely do not share rumors about positive COVID-19 tests. During these anxious times, we all appreciate a little extra kindness. If a coworker chooses to share health information, it’s certainly a good idea to support them while following CDC guidelines. Thank you!

A: Teacher contract renewals are going out to campus/department administrators on April 22 for recommendations. Contracts are scheduled to be sent to employees via their CCISD e-mail for electronic signature on May 13 with a due date of May 22.

Q: Will letters of reasonable assurance be sent out to all auxiliary employees for the 2020-2021 school year?

A: Yes. Letters of reasonable assurance have started going out to all auxiliary employees, including substitutes. All employees should have access to their LRA by April 22. LRA’s are being sent directly to the employee electronically via their CCISD e-mail. Distribution of LRA’s for all Facilities and Operations, Food Services, and Transportation Services employees will be sent to their CCISD and personal e-mail, and will be coordinated through the department administrators.

THE BEND MAGAZINE TO SALUTE GRADUATING SENIORS The Bend Magazine is dedicating a section of its June 2020 issue to salute the Class of 2020. The Bend Magazine is partnering this year with parents, friends, schools and local businesses to congratulate these special grads through its “Senior Spotlights,” program. Each spotlight will feature photos and a special message designed for individual students, groups, clubs or sports teams.
