The Cornwall Waterfest Dragon Boat races will be returning to the Cornwall Canal this summer for its 11th annual event and takes place this weekend on Saturday, August 13th at the historic Cornwall Canal, located at Power Dam Drive and Second Street West in Cornwall, Ontario. While the dragon boat races are a main attraction, the event also features a unique market of local artisans and vendors, along with a selection of delicious food vendors for festival-goers to grab a bite to eat.

“The nice thing about our race course is that it is held in a calm, sheltered canal, and is approximately 200 metres in length,” says Cornwall Waterfest Committee Chair, Lea Emard. “This makes it very accessible to beginning paddlers, but also offers a challenge for experienced teams that want to put their skills to the test. Teams can choose to enter the recreational, competitive, or ladies division. All local teams will be offered a practice session to help get them in form before race day and

CITY OF CORNWALL

It’s that time of year again. Throughout the City of Cornwall, streets are being temporarily closed, holes are being dug, pipes changed, and pavement laid.

For 2022, the city has some pretty ambitious — and exciting — goals when it comes to road-related work.

Take Sydney Street for example. This year, the last phase of reconstruction of the major

artery — between Seventh Street East and Ninth Street — is being completed. Speak of a lot of work!

The project involves separating the existing combined sewer. In other words, the city will be installing separate pipe networks for storm and sanitary flows. Doing so will reduce the flow of rainwater into the Wastewater Treatment Plant’s sewage system.

In turn, that will reduce the likelihood of basement floodings, as there will be less water flowing into pipes that are connected to homes. It will also reduce the possibility of wastewater making its way into the St. Lawrence River.

Let’s not forget that the reconstruction will

provide Sydney Street with new pavement, curbs, and sidewalks.

This year will also see the construction of the city’s first official roundabout. It will be located at the intersection of Sydney Street, Lemay Street, Thirteenth Street and Reneal Street.

Roundabouts are designed to maximize safety, and decrease delays and fuel consumption.

Yet it isn’t just streets that the city is focusing on. Two new bicycle paths will also be built — one from Pitt Street to Edgar Street and one on Power Dam Drive, from Grant Avenue to Saunders Drive.

Several streets will also be subject to

watermain lining — a process which consists of inserting a flexible liner into the existing watermain. Once the liner is in place, steam is used to cure or harden the liner. The process creates a new watermain inside of the existing one.

The above projects are only a few examples of the many great things coming up this year.

New occupational programs for in-demand jobs being offered free of charge If you’re seeking employment or wanting to make a career change, this is an opportune time as Covid-19/lockdowns have created job openings/employee shuffle, adding to pre-existing workforce shortages in specific industries. According to the LowRisk Drinking Guidelines published by the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health, women over 65 are advised to consume no more than one standard alcoholic drink per day and five per week. For men, the recommendations state no more than one to two per day and no more than seven per week.

2. Loneliness. Older people who no longer have children in their care, have lost their life partner or don’t have a large social circle are at increased risk of drinking alone and becoming alcohol dependent.

3. Health problems. Getting sick, losing mobility or experiencing chronic pain can make an older person preoccupied with declining health. They may resort to alcohol consumption to numb the sadness they feel at losing their abilities.

Transition Cornwall+ More of us are realizing the values of our hometown – whether it’s our daily routine or what we know as a ‘staycation’. With over 20 kilometers of off-road recreation path, Cornwall in a major hotspot for cycling along the St. Lawrence River. If you look a bit closer at the path however, you will quickly see it is also a haven for walkers, runners, children in strollers, dog owners, and people in mobility scooters. In many cases, path-users are groups of friends, family members, or work colleagues strolling along while they catch up on recent events or unwind from a long day.

In these instances, there is no pressure to have the latest equipment or clock the highest speed, instead these path users are simply connecting with themselves, with each other, and with nature.

The benefits of these many activities are numerous, which is why it is encouraging to see the City improving our parks to make them safe and accessible for everyone, including those folks who don’t own a vehicle, either by choice or circumstance. Making the city spaces more attractive and useable has the added benefit of lowering our carbon footprint as the desire or need to ‘get out of town’ is reduced.

It is true that some improvements have been minor, like installing porta potties in high traffic areas or placing more picnic

benches under trees for those needing to rest in the shade. Even the simple act of plowing the Lamoureux Park pathways during the winter months made the park safer for those looking to stay active in sub-zero temperatures.

Those who ventured into Guindon Park recently will have noticed significant style and language improvements to the trail signage, map, arrows, and tree markers which are all there to help visitors comfortably explore the park. It is very exciting to see the trails markers designed with colours, shapes, AND large numbers to help make the park more welcoming and accessible for children, those who are visually impaired, and new residents learning English or French as a second language.

Any improvement helps but perhaps the City’s biggest step towards encouraging the art of strolling is the new LED path lighting in Lamoureux Park. Understandably, well lit parks can encourage old friends to walk in the early morning hours, families to stop and build a snowman before travelling home for dinner, and neighbours to walk their dogs before bed. It’s probably a little too soon to gauge for sure but hopefully these new lights will encourage more park visits overall, especially during the dark winter months when we need it the most.

Lights, seating, signage, etc. may seem like small steps, but they are quickly pushing us towards a more welcoming, comfortable, connected, enjoyable – and indeed, more sustainable community!

Cadet program summer training Local Cadets in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry as well as Prescott- Russell recently took part in a Local Cadet Activity Program that wrapped up in Lakeview Heights on August 5th, 2022. The two programs ran simultaneously during the last week of July and first week of August in Lakeview Heights, just outside Cornwall by the Lost Villages Museum. CAP 1 (Cadet Activity Program), a daily summer training program for year 1 cadets, and CAP 2 for second year cadets that consisted of a 2-week day training program and included an overnight portion held in Ottawa at CFB Connaught.

This new National program offered by Cadets Canada is meant to enhance local training and keep them close to home while learning the basics of leadership, drill, field training, mental wellness, sports, on water activities, marksmanship, element specific activities to the SEA, ARMY & AIR cadet programs as well as community engagement.

CAP Cornwall was given the honour of having many local guest speakers and organizations come out to provide our cadets with education on policing, cyberbullying, and bullying with the Cornwall Detachment of the RCMP, The Native North American Travelling College providing education on Indigenous culture and traditions, The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders Regiment with a Canadian Armed Forces Round Robin Education on trades and equipment, and former MPP Jim Brownell took time from his day to teach our cadets about the History of the Lost Villages. McDonald files nomination papers for municipal council seat A familiar face in the Counties is looking to make her debut in municipal politics.

Alison McDonald, a Crysler resident, has filed her nomination papers with the Township of North Stormont for this fall’s municipal election.

Alison started thinking about running for a seat on council a few years ago after being McDONALD inspired by the passion of residents on big issues in the community, and by her work on local development projects.

“I’m really excited to announce that I will be putting my name forward, it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” said McDonald. “I’m proud of our community and after working in the planning and environmental sector for 14 years, I’m looking forward to putting my passion and knowledge to work from the other side of the Council table.”

As someone who works, lives, and volunteers in North Stormont, Alison is familiar with many of the local challenges and opportunities for growth, business development, and improvements to recreational and community services.

McDonald’s stint as the Manager of Planning at the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry saw the introduction of the

popular Regional Incentives Program that provides funding to local businesses. While at the Counties, Alison also Chaired working groups with the Conservation Authority which brought municipalities together with the agricultural community to discuss forest conservation.

In her current role at South Nation Conservation, McDonald leads the Authority’s planning and development review work on behalf of 16 municipalities in Eastern Ontario to deliver essential services throughout the region.

“I regularly work with complex budgets and tight timelines and I’m always working to save time and money for our residents. I also have years of experience serving the public on challenging issues like development of new subdivisions, on-site sewage permitting, and dealing with natural hazards and drinking water protection. I see these experiences as valuable additions to the Council table.”

McDonald has also previously volunteered with the Glengarry Pipe Band, the McIntosh Park Committee, the International Plowing Match, and the Crysler Community Garden.

“I look forward to bringing my love for our community and my extensive knowledge of timely, efficient municipal service together to serve local residents,” added McDonald.

The local municipal election day is October 24, 2022.

Cornwall research scientist,sports organizer declares candidacy for City Council

Fred Ngoundjo, Cornwall based Research Scientist with the Government of Canada, and local amateur sports organizer has announced that he will be running for the position of City Councillor in the municipal election to be held on Monday, October 24, 222.

“We recently celebrated Canada Day together, and with this NGOUNDJO spirit, I seek the opportunity to give back to this great country which we are so proud to call home, by helping to make our community an even better place” said Ngoundjo.

Dear editor: For what it is worth, I think this is the goofyish idea I have ever heard of.

Our city is plagued with substandard housing and properties that city officials don’t give a hoot about, and now someone is giving substandard property owners a free ride when their properties grow more unsightly.

I hope the next Mayor has the courage to enforce property standards bylaws. Older houses should either be torn down or brought up to standard within city bylaws, and, within a set period of time.

What’s the use of having bylaws that are not enforced?

It is indeed a pleasure to see so many families, seniors and pedestrians enjoying their morning walk on the bike path!

Eight years ago I was one of the Cornwall City Councillors to allow wheel chairs and ebikes to proceed to enjoy the bike path and our beautiful waterfront!

However, recently I noticed racing bikes and ebikes proceeding at high rates of speed, without a bell or sounding device to warn pedestrians of their approach!

Seniors and pedestrians are vulnerable to approaching bikes!

Please be cautious to all on bike paths, it was created for all to enjoy!

Maybe a third wider lane could be created for pedestrians and joggers!

Please be courteous to all on the bike path!

Have you tried to navigate some of the streets in residential neighbourhoods in Cornwall this summer? Any summer?

Some of the main thoroughfares in our residential neighbourhoods are pock marked with vehicles along the curbs, making for some interesting driving for motorists who are trying to avoid getting side-swiped by either on-coming traffic or those who have decided to park their cars.

While this isn’t a problem on EVERY residential street in our city, it is problematic on some of the busier arterial roads that make up neighbourhoods like Riverdale.

Let’s take Riverdale Avenue as an example. This busy street in west-end Cornwall runs north-south, connecting Second Street West with a new housing development in the northern part of the neighbourhood. Part of the street is a bus route, and also runs along one of the city’s more popular parks. There’s a splashpad, tennis courts, basketball court and playground equipment.

In short, Riverdale is busy. This is complicated by the number of cars that park on the street in the summertime. Regularly there are children that dart out from behind parked cars,

either excitedly on their way into the park, or dejectedly because they are headed home.

Residents in Riverdale will tell you that there are plenty of close calls involving children nearly being struck by passing vehicles.

Some might say: “Well, if the cars slowed down, there wouldn’t be any problems.”

Not true…because the cars are barely moving. Narrow streets, like Riverdale Avenue, are nearly impossible to safely travel when there are three vehicles in a space for two.

Most often one vehicle must stop, or really slow down, in order to successfully avoid a parked car, while also ensuring one doesn’t scrape the side of an oncoming vehicle.

Throw into the mix the added traffic from buses, and the aforementioned housing development, not to mention the seemingly never-ending waterworks rehabilitation project underway in Riverdale and you can see how simply driving through a quiet residential neighbourhood seems to be a thing of the past.

The city can ease some of this congestion, and the danger, by moving parked vehicles away from busy residential streets.

Mayor Glen Grant got his knuckles wrapped for the email gaffe he made earlier this year, when he issued a campaign-style media release from his municipal email account/laptop. The integrity commissioner said Grant owed the city an apology (which he issued last week) and should be penalized two weeks worth of salary. Council accepted the apology but held back on enforcing the recommended fine.

Councillors Eric Bergeron and Justin Towndale won’t let it go. They want the integrity commissioner to now

investigate how news of his investigation turned into an editorial in this space. If the integrity commissioner now has to open a file into every time news leaks out of city hall, any city hall, then we are in uncharted territory indeed.

Towndale just happens to be running against Grant in the upcoming municipal election.

Pretty soon people are going to start asking a very simple question: Are any real issues going to be discussed in this half-baked mayoral race, are or we just going to stick with the finger-pointing?

Change the record fellas…there’s more important things going on in our city.

Why a triangle of three runways (usually 2.400’ in length)? Because novice pilots don’t handle crosswinds well. One of the three runways offers something better than a ‘Hobson’s Choice’.

If you visit Detachment Gananoque you’ll see a derelict hangar with cladding of wooden shakes, long weathered from light brown to black. If you are allowed to enter, you’ll see what once was a 104’ foot wingspan war surplus PBY-5A Canso amphibian. Its 47” diameter are resting in puddles on the concrete floor.

Each year, more of the PBY’s components are taken apart. Mystery: Is it to be scrapped? Is it being disassembled, to be restored by a museum? Could it ever be

brought back to flying condition?

The former BCATP base near Picton is another intriguing find. Some of the many still existing barracks and hangars are still standing, some being stabilized, others being brought back to use as small business workshops, offices, art galleries and logistic facilities. Others have just been allowed to heave a sigh, some creaks, then tumble onto their foundations.

Take an unhurried walk around. You’ll hear sounds made by men and machines long gone.

Find your own former military base. There are traces of hundreds to be found. Pause.

Contemplate upon the sacrifices in time, materials and effort that were expended to secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

My devotion to aviation history has drawn me to make many pilgrimages to military bases on three continents. It is one of my ways of paying homage to those who sometimes ‘gave their all’ in service.

It is difficult to find former army bases, as forests and farming have erased most remnants of the barracks and other facilities. However, most armouries have a Sherman tank (one of more than 50,000 manufactured) as gate guard. There’ are only floating artifacts such as HMCS Haida (in Hamilton), HMCS Sackville (in Halifax)

and HMCS Ojibway (in Port Dover) to bear witness to once was one of the Allies’ largest fleets.

The deep, dark waters of the North Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic waters keep their war-gotten hulks. Remains of corvettes, troopships, destroyers, tankers full aviation fuel, freighters laden with Jeeps, Shermans and ammunition litter the sea bottoms.

Then there’s the air force. The BCATP (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan) graduated 131,533 personnel for Canada and the Commonwealth’s air forces. The best way to discover the many whose remains still exist, go to Google Earth, or fly over southern Ontario and the prairie provinces. “Aha! There’s one. A brutal war thousands of kilometres away has struck home for the Cornwall-based Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) with the death of a former student from the Ukraine, another victim of the senseless Russian invasion.

Daniil Chochua, a 26-year-old Ukrainian soldier, was killed on Aug. 4 when struck by shrapnel during a rocket attack on his hometown.

He was among the school’s first students, one of many young foreign men and women who have pursued their hockey dreams at the academy.

“Just when you think you are so far removed from the world problems you receive (this) devastating news,” Kim Lascelle, who with husband Giles co-founded the academy, posted on Facebook.

“He was loved by all of us. We are heartbroken.”

She described Daniil as a fun-loving young man and one of my “most memorable students.”

“I will always cherish my (Ukraine) ball cap (that he gave me).”

Several of his former OHA team-mates took to Facebook.

For Jamie Campbell, he was a “true character” who was “loved by all of us.”

“The world is a little less bright without him.”

TRIVIA ANSWER: A 1960s fitness test of Cornwall elementary school students showed that 25% didn’t meet the basic national level of fitness for elementary kids.

IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR: A judicial recount on August 14, 1962 carried out in the county court chambers under the watchful eye of Judge George Brennan confirmed that Liberal candidate Lucien Lamoureux, a city lawyer, was the new MP for Stormont. On election night, Lamoureux had a 70-vote margin. But a recount three days later cut the margin to 65 votes. The 70-vote margin was restored in the rare judicial recount that was demanded by the Conservative team. It was the closest federal or provincial election in local riding history. Lamoureux would be twice re-elected before cutting his ties with the Liberal Party to run as an Independent Speaker of the House. He retired in 1974 and became an ambassador.

The Glengarry Pioneer Museum will once again host an outdoor classical music recital this season. It will take place on Thursday, August 18th at 7:30 pm. The popular “Classical Music Under the Stars” event will feature the return of soloist Nicholas Deek, the concert pianist from Ottawa who so impressed last year’s audience. Peacefully at St. Joseph Continuing Care Center Aug 5, 2022 at the age of 103 years. Beloved wife of the late Paul Emile Nadon. Loving mother of Michael Nadon (Claire) of Cornwall and loving grandmother of Marc Leduc (Karen), Lise Granger (David), Luc Nadon (Debra), Mario Nadon, Rachelle Nadon, Francois Nadon (Sonia), Martin Nadon (Sarah). Sadly missed by great-grandchildren Brittney, Amber, Gabriella, Maxim, Mackenzie and Ryland also great great-grandchildren Laura and Marc.

Predeceased by her parents Rene and Marie Germain (O’Byrne), her sister Rita Lascelles (Bill), her brother Bernard (Bernie) Germain (Jean), her daughter Agnes Leduc (Raymond) her son Richard Nadon ( Helene) and her grandchild Alain Nadon. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. To honor Mrs. Nadon’s wishes there will be no visitation.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to St. Joseph Continuing Care 14 York St. for the wonderful care that the staff provided for Beatrice especially the Quinn Team for their excellent care THANK YOU ALL, and thank you also to Andrea (St. Joe) and Paul Blanchard and his wife for their guidance so that we could accomplish the proper care for Beatrice.

South Glengarry Council Newsletter – August 2, 2022 Meeting Highlights | Parks and Recreation Master Plan Council received a presentation from Mehak, Kelly and Associates on the recently completed Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The master plan provides recommendations regarding recreation programs, activities and events, facilities and parks and trail development over the next 10 years. The presentation addressed community context, stakeholder input and broader trends that assess local needs. The presentation also included recommendations for new/improved services and the role of the Township in facilitating recreation opportunities.

Cornwall Electric LED Streetlight Conversion The Township and Cornwall Electric have discussed the conversion of the streetlights in South Glengarry currently owned by Cornwall Electric to LED fixtures for many years.

Cornwall Electric has agreed to sell their 372 streetlights to the Township, which will then be converted to LED models. This switch will save over 74% in energy per year. The current streetlights are very expensive to maintain and the cost is rising due to inflation and

labour costs. With the anticipated savings the LED models would provide, the money required for the conversion will be replenished in just three years!

Design Award – Glen Walter Water Tower Council agreed to enter an agreement with Ainley & Associates Limited to provide Engineering Services for a Water Tower and Watermain Design. The Glen Walter Water Treatment Plan requires rehabilitation of the existing reservoir with a new and elevated water storage tank (water tower) with new pumps, as well as replacement of 4,000 meters of existing watermains. Ainley & Associates Limited presented a strong technical submission with demonstrated experience across Ontario with the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure for treatment, distribution, and collection.

Ainley & Associates Limited has the corporate experience and individual knowledge to complete this project successfully. Furthermore, they have the capacity to undertake this design work within the compressed schedule required to meet the funding deadlines.

SDG Butterflyway Project seeking information on local pollinator gardens people and champion fun ideas.

“Anyone can be part of the project,” adds Butterflyway Mentor Christina Enright.

“Whether it’s a large, dedicated pollinator garden or potted plants on a balcony, it all makes a difference”.

This summer is local teacher Laura Ferguson’s first time participating in the project, and she has already observed bees and butterflies in her garden.

“I really enjoy gardening and I learned a lot from joining the local Butterflyway Facebook group,” says Mrs. Ferguson. “It’s rewarding seeing so many bees and butterflies in my garden and knowing I’m helping in a small way.”

Already in it’s second year, the SDG Butterflyway Project is looking for information on local pollinator gardens in Cornwall, SDG and Akwesasne.

The Butterflyway Project is a volunteer-led movement through the David Suzuki Foundation that’s bringing nature home to neighbourhoods throughout Canada, one pollinator-friendly planting at a time.

“We’re proud that the Cornwall, SDG & Akwesasne communities are making a mark on the David Suzuki Butterflyway map,” says Butterflyway Ranger Katherine Wells.

“We hope to add a mix of local residential and community pollinator gardens to the map this year”.

The Butterflyway Project shows that a small group of residents can make a big difference.

“We were delighted to receive a funding request to help support the Haudenosaunee Everlasting Academy of Learning through the ARPA Fiscal Recovery Funds. The newly created academy will serve all Onhkwehon:we in their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development; as well as help train the next generation of traditional healers.

Tribal Council donates $100K to Haudenosaunee Everlasting Academy of Learnings AKWESASNE -- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council is proud to announce they have donated $100,000 (USD) on Seskéha/ August 2, 2022 to support the Haudenosaunee Everlasting Academy of Learnings (HEAL). The funds will be used to create a healing lodge run by Della Adams and Eddie Gray, who both recently retired from the Traditional Medicines Program at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility after 23-years of service in Akwesasne.

“Our shared experiences have allowed us to build the most successful, credible, and sought-after traditional healing program across Turtle Island. Since our retirement we continue to receive requests for traditional teachings that help individuals reach their highest level of holistic healing,” said Della Adams on the ancestral knowledge that Eddie and herself provide to clients. Adams added during the check presentation, “We offer our sincere appreciation and say ‘Niawen:kówa/ Thank you very much’ to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council for supporting our efforts to offer a healing lodge in the Akwesasne community.”

Déjà dans sa deuxième année, le projet Butterflyway de SDG est à la recherche d’informations sur les jardins de pollinisateurs locaux à Cornwall, SDG et Akwesasne.

Le projet Butterflyway est un mouvement dirigé par des bénévoles de la Fondation David Suzuki qui ramène la nature dans les quartiers de tout le Canada, une plantation favorable aux pollinisateurs à la fois.

“Nous sommes fiers que les collectivités de Cornwall, de SDG et d’Akwesasne fassent une marque sur la carte du Butterflyway de David Suzuki”, déclare Katherine Wells, garde forestière du Butterflyway.

“Nous espérons ajouter à la carte, cette année, un mélange de jardins pollinisateurs résidentiels et communautaires locaux”.

Le projet Butterflyway montre qu’un petit groupe de résidents peut faire une grande différence. Les Rangers rendent leur communauté plus verte et plus saine. Ils créent des opportunités, mettent les gens en relation et défendent des idées amusantes.

“Tout le monde peut participer au projet”, ajoute Christina Enright, mentor Butterflyway.

“Qu’il s’agisse d’un grand jardin dédié aux pollinisateurs ou de plantes en pot sur un balcon, tout cela fait une différence”.

Cet été, c’est la première fois que Laura Ferguson, enseignante locale, participe au projet, et elle a déjà observé des abeilles et des papillons dans son jardin.

POUR LE SIROP SIMPLE • 1/2 tasse d’eau • 1/2 tasse de cassonade PRÉPARATION 1. Mélanger l’eau et la cassonade dans une casserole et cuire à feu moyen jusqu’à ce que le sucre soit complètement dissous. Si le mélange se met à bouillir, baisser légèrement le feu.

INGRÉDIENTS (POUR 8 BRUSCHETTAS) • 20 tomates cerises, coupées en 2 • 1/4 tasse d’huile d’olive • 8 tranches de pain baguette • 8 c. à soupe de fromage de chèvre • Basilic frais, haché grossièrement • Sel et poivre, au goût • Miel, pour la garniture (facultatif ) PRÉPARATION 1. Préchauffer le four à 350 °F. 2. Dans un bol allant au four, mélanger les tomates cerises et l’huile d’olive.

Saler et poivrer. Cuire environ 15 minutes, ou jusqu’à ce que les tomates commencent à griller.

3. Sur une plaque à pâtisserie, étaler les tranches de pain et griller au four jusqu’à ce qu’elles soient bien croustillantes.

4. Étaler une cuillère à soupe de fromage de chèvre sur chaque tranche de pain.

5. Ajouter un peu de basilic frais et les tomates rôties.

Chercheur scientifique et organisateur sportif de cornwall déclare sa candidature au conseil municipal Fred Ngoundjo, chercheur scientifique au gouvernement du Canada, résident de Cornwall et organisateur local de sports amateurs a annoncé qu’il se présentera au poste de conseiller municipal lors de l’élection municipale qui se tiendra le lundi 24 octobre 2022. « Nous avons récemment célébré la fête du Canada ensemble, et dans cet esprit, je cherche l’occasion de redonner à ce grand pays que nous sommes si fiers d’appeler chez nous, en aidant à faire de notre communauté un endroit encore meilleur », a déclaré Ngoundjo.

“Je crois qu’avec ma nouvelle approche de vision réfléchie et de consultation, suivie ensuite d’une action positive, nous pouvons produire de bons résultats”, a-t-il ajouté.

Parfaitement bilingue, Fred, 46 ans, vit à Cornwall avec son épouse et ses deux jeunes enfants. Il est membre des Chevaliers de Colomb et d’autres organismes communautaires.

«Fred est une personne engagée à la communauté. Je pense qu’il est exactement le bon type de nouvelle personne dont nous avons besoin au sein du Conseil » a déclaré le Maire Glen Grant. « Je crois en la candidature de Fred Ngoundjo et je le soutiens de tout cœur.

NGOUNDJO Nous avons besoin d’une voix comme la sienne au sein du gouvernement municipal pour nous aider à aller de l’avant en tant que communauté” a ajouté la Mairesse précédente Bernadette Clement La conseillère municipale Elaine MacDonald a aussi ajouté: «J’aime Fred et je soutiens sa candidature. Il apporterait une contribution très positive en tant que conseiller municipal ».

“Je cherche à suivre les traces positives de l’autrefois Mairesse Bernadette Clement, et du Maire Glen Grant, qui m’ont tous deux encouragé à poser ma candidature. Je leur suis très reconnaissant.”
