CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall City Council endorsed a pitch to build a maternity home for new mothers and their children at their meeting on Monday, Oct. 28. The idea for the maternity home was pitched and is being spearheaded by the Cornwall Compassion Centre. The Cornwall Compassion Centre is one arm

of the Harvest Fellowship Church on York St., and helped setup Heart of the Family a 24/7 daycare not far from the church. Now, they want to start supporting moms and families even earlier. The proposed maternity home would provide living space to 18 mothers and their children. Mothers can refer themselves to stay at the home, which will have three houses, split into six units each and will be furnished. CON’T ON PG. 3

that many hands were involved in helping make the night happen, including Richard Dancause, who helped design the creative steampunk themed flying fish centre piece. “They asked me to make something cool and I’m a big fan of steampunk,” Dancause said. Dancause said that the centre piece took around nine months to create and was made of wood, cardboard and foam. Gillespie explained that last year’s event brought in $75,000 for the CCHF and that she hoped that the event would generate at least that much money this year. Money was raised not just through ticket sales, but also through a silent auction, and a raffle which saw winners given the chance to

CORNWALL, Ontario – It was a sold out night for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF) gala at the Nav Centre on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019. The goal of the maternity home will be to provide mothers with support and to teach them the skills they need to become successful mothers, and keep their children out of the foster system. Mothers could begin their stay at the home starting in the second trimester and could stay until the child is nine months old. Additionally, mothers could enter the home as late as six weeks after their child is born. “There are a number of moms every single year who would benefit from a maternity home in our community,” said Kimberly Tran of the Children’s Aid Society. “There is a very high instance of teen pregnancy in Cornwall and SD&G.” The nearest similar home is in Ottawa, and the next closest, Toronto. Tran explained that the detriment of these centres is that they bring mothers away from their support networks. “We are talking about them leaving everyone that they know for a very long time,” she said. The project would seek funding from ODSP and $195,000 from the province for operating costs. Councillor Dean Hollingsworth asked what would happen if they did not receive funding from the province. Dick D’Alessio, President of the Cornwall Compassion Centre said that he was committed to the idea’s success. “What I’m saying to the province is, we are not going to invest $500,000 or more to something that might not get funding the next year,” he said. |If we are successful, and we will be successful, there is no cost to the province, they are just transferring funds.” D’Alessio explained that if even three of the 18 mothers staying at the centre kept their children, then the province would make it’s money back, but said he was hoping for a much higher success rate. Council voted in favour of providing a letter of support for the maternity home. “I’m blown away. It ticks off so many boxes,” said Councillor Carilyne Hébert, who is also Executive Director of the Social Development Council. “There are so many dollars provincially that are going to support families that are living in poverty. If we give them the tools to succeed, they wouldn’t have to rely on those government dollars and could become a productive member of society.” Dan Parkinson, former Chief of the Cornwall Police Service and Board Member of the Cornwall Compassion Centre praised council for their support.

CORNWALL, Ontario – There is a new buzz at the Cornwall Innovation Centre (CIC) and the word is CREATE. The innovation centre launched it’s new brand, name, and direction at an event at Esca on Friday, Oct. 25. CREATE is an acronym for the Cornwall and Region Entrepreneurs Artists and Technologists Exchange, a mouthful befitting of the wide variety of services and resources the innovation centre hopes to provide. Their new home will be 7,500 sq. ft. with 10 to 12 offices and more than 30 “hot desks.” In this new site, CREATE hopes to offer co-working spaces for entrepreneurs and companies, an event space, and a maker space. RBC is financially supporting the co-working

space, which will be known as the RBC Connect Centre. The maker space will house equipment for entrepreneurs and creators such as 3D printers and laser cutters. Consultant Stephen Burke has been contracted by CREATE to setup the maker space, he had previously helped setup a similar space at the Ottawa Public Library. He estimates that a total of $65,000 in investment will be needed to fully fund the maker space, but CREATE is well on its way after securing a grant for $35,000. In addition to these physical resources, CREATE will continue to provide post-secondary education through their Ontario Emerging Jobs Institute (OEJI) program which was started in early 2018. CREATE Executive Director, and Cornwall City Councillor, Eric Bergeron has been working hard since he took over the innovation centre eight months ago on the re-brand that was presented on Friday. He characterized OEJI as being critical to the United Counties of SD&G and the creation of skilled labour in the region. Bergeron’s goal for CREATE is that all of its services be revenue generators and that the

CORNWALL, Ontario – Residents and community members celebrated the storied history of one of Cornwall’s oldest seniors homes, St. Joseph’s Villa. At a gathering on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 residents, staff, and community members came together to celebrate a history that extends further back than 50 years. The doors of St. Joseph’s Villa, opened in 1960, but the foundation for the first care home for the elderly was laid down on that same spot in 1879 by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph. It first began as the Hotel Dieu Hospital

before becoming the St. Paul’s Home for the elderly nearly 20 years later. In the modern building, which was built in 2007, there are still relics from the Sisters of the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph. In the chapel, the walls are adorned with the wood of their original church that was on the site, and the original altar also remains. Anne Vincelli, President of the St. Joseph’s Villa Auxiliaries explained some of the home’s proud history. “Throughout the years, dedicated physicians and staff doled out compassionate medical care,” she said. “Benefactors from far and wide helped to make this history. Volunteers continue to assist in creating a home atmosphere for the residents. SOUTH GLENGARRY, Ontario – A South Glengarry farmer will be made to pay for an agricultural fire that shutdown a part of Glen Rd. for a few days in September. Over the course of the second week of September, the farmer started multiple brush fires to clear roughly 10 acres of land. According to South Glengarry Fire Chief Dave Robertson, the landowners who started the fire did not follow instructions he had communicated to them and did not follow the rules of their burn permit. “Basically, it was supposed to be burned in a monitored volume and that was not followed,” he said. Deputy Mayor Lyle Warden said that he received a call from one resident who said that she was stuck in her house during the event and was unable to go outside due to the amount of smoke.

“I think that at a minimum this individual should be charged for all costs,” said Warden. “In this case, the landowner went against what the Chief instructed.” The estimated total cost to the municipality for responding to this fire and closing that part of Glen Rd. is between $1,500 and $2,000. “This one event was a significant issue for the Fire Service and the Roads Department,” said Chief Robertson. Chief Robertson said that the farmer’s burn permit was revoked and that the farmer would be made to pay back the Township for the cost of their response to the fire. “At some point we are going to have to take a stand,” said Mayor Frank Prevost. Councillor Martin Lang said that the agricultural community were not impressed by the fire either. “Some members of the agricultural community were not happy about this. Some asked that he be fined,” said Lang.

South Glengarry to ask Cornwall for Glen Walter water service

“At the end of the day, we are responsible for whatever Cornwall puts in their water,” he said. The Township of South Glengarry is also currently involved in negotiations with the City of Cornwall to provide water services to some businesses along Boundary Rd., but South Glengarry Council made it clear that they wanted to keep the Glen Walter request separate from that other issue.

LANCASTER, Ontario – After a presentation from EVB Engineering, the Council of the Township of South Glengarry voted in favour of approaching the City of Cornwall and ask for an estimate for servicing the Glen Walter area with water and waste water services. At their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Council heard from EVB Engineering that Glen Walter had only seven years of capacity left in their waste water treatment plant based on projected growth. EVB was represented by Marco Vincelli and Josh Eamon. Vincelli pointed out that the cost to an individual to privately provide their own water service would cost between $12,000 and $20,000 to install a well, and to install a septic tank for waste water would cost more than $30,000. To support ongoing growth in the Glen Walter area, EVB presented three options for South Glengarry to consider to help expand their water and waste water capacity. The first option suggested only expanding water and waste water services in the most densely populated areas of Glen Walter, the second option would provide for the most densely populated urban areas as well as half of the Sapphire Hills development and half of the Bayview Estates development. The cost for Option 1 would be $32,409 per lot and $24,675 for Option 2. Option 3 had the lowest cost per lot at $22,474, but also recommended that the Glen Walter water and waste water treatment plants be decommissioned and that the Township seek support from the City of Cornwall to provide those services, through South Glengarry’s pipes. “Hopefully it would be a lot less to build the lines and connect them to the City. I think we should approach the City to see what they would charge,” said Deputy Mayor Lyle Warden. The Township’s General Manager for Infrastructure Ewen MacDonald said that if Cornwall did connect Glen Walter to their system, there may be additional costs, such as the construction of pumping stations and other infrastructure.

There was also concern that residents of Glen Walter, who have already paid to be connected to the existing water and waste water treatment plants would have to pay again to connect to the City of Cornwall’s system. In order to know that cost though, Vincelli told Council that the City of Cornwall will want to know exactly how many cubic meters they will be pumping into and out of Glen Walter. Councillor Sam McDonell raised concerns about ceding control of water and waste water to the City of Cornwall, but he did ultimately vote in favour of endorsing Option 3 and approaching the City of Cornwall regarding the cost of connecting Glen Walter to their system. “I still have a concern with connecting with Cornwall. We can control what we charge our residents, but we cannot control what Cornwall charges us for sewage,” McDonell said. “Would we rather spend more money, but control our water and our sewage.” McDonell also raised liability concerns around the water that Cornwall provided to Glen Walter.

CORNWALL, Ontario – On Saturday, Oct. 26 Rachel’s Kids held their annual Pumpkin Drop in the Freshco parking lot. The giant pumpkin provided by Jim and Terry Reid was filled with hundreds of numbered ping pong balls. The pumpkin was then hoisted over 100 ft. into the air by a large crane and then dropped onto the large X marked on the pavement below. Upon impact, the pumpkin exploded with a loud bang sending pumpkin and ping pong balls flying for hundreds of feat in every

CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) held their 25th annual Retirement and Recognition Evening at the Ramada Inn on Thursday, Oct. 24. “I can tell you that the residents of Cornwall greatly values their Cornwall Police Service,” said Mayor Bernadette Clement during the opening remarks. “We are here to recognize the accomplishments of the CPS over the past year,” said CPS Chief Danny Aikmen. “Everyday I hear and see the great work our officers do.” Retiring officers who were recognized included Detective Sergeant Marc Bissonnette,

Sergeant Trevor Butler, and Executive Assistant Diane Gibeau. “I would like to thank all of the people that I’ve worked with,” said Bissonnette. “It’s been a great career. It’s great to see my son take the wings and become a police officer and all I can say is stay safe out there.” In addition to the awards given for years of service, and dedication, there were also awards given for Excellence in Investigation, Community Service and Team Achievement. The Team Achievement Award recognized more than two dozen officers who were involved in an incident earlier this year. SOUTH STORMONT, Ontario – Five new plaques were unveiled at the Lost Villages Museum on Wednesday, Oct. 23 commemorating the history of the communities and landmarks that were swallowed up by the St. Lawrence Seaway upon it’s creation 60 years ago. The plaques were created and paid for by Cornwall’s Heart of the City, who offered them to the Lost Villages Historical Society. The images on the plaques were made by local artist Pierre Giroux. Heart of the City and Giroux had previously partnered to create 40 historical plaques that honour history and are placed throughout the City of Cornwall. Each of the plaques were unveiled by Lost Villages Historical Society President Jim Brownell with the help of someone with a connection to the local history being displayed. Art Buckland, who grew up on Sheek Island, said of the plaque commemorating the historical site that in it’s day, it was like a “Shangri la” for kids and beach goers in the summers. “We have evidence of Mohawk settlement on Sheek Island going back 5,000 years,” Buckland stated. Buckland not only lived on the island, but also went to school there. “If we were to have a school reunion,” he said.

The truth about the CCH NICK SEEBRUCH

I have heard many great things about the Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) this past month and the truth is I felt the need to give credit where credit is due in this week’s column. This past Saturday saw another great gala evening for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF). The total numbers for money raised are still being tallied, but last year they raised $75,000. This year, they hope to put that money towards a new mammography machine, which alone will cost $400,000. Some of the money will also go towards other urgently needed equipment. The hospital receives no money from the province to buy equipment and raises all of that themselves through fundraisers and donations. Earlier in 2019, they secured funding from the City of Cornwall, which they used with money they already raised to secure a residency program here in Cornwall for student doctors at Queen’s University. When the CCH announced a few months ago that they were experiencing a doctors shortage in their Emergency Room, I worried that this would be an obstacle that would take the hospital some time to overcome.

To my surprise and delight, just a couple of months after that announcement, in September, the CCH sent out a media release stating that they had brought 10 new doctors onto their staff and that they now had a full roster covering the ER. Just this past week, Accreditation Canada bestowed on our local hospital their top marks. The Cornwall hospital met 2169 out of 2184 quality criteria that Accreditation Canada measured. This shows I think that the hospital is doing well and is being well run in a wide range of areas. I was disappointed to see some comment their disbelief that the CCH had received such accreditation, while others bemoaned the long wait times in the Emergency Room. If you go to the ER with a broken bone, a pulled muscle or a runny nose, will you have to wait awhile? Yes. But if you come in suffering from a heart attack, you will be triaged more quickly. Last year I inquired as to how are hospital stacked up in terms of wait times in comparison to other regional hospitals like the Alexandria and Winchester hospitals. Cornwall was either as good or better than its regional comparators when it came to ER wait times. Is the CCH a perfect organization? No. There is no such thing, but they have had

many great accomplishments over the past few weeks and have had one hell of a 2019 so far. Like I said, credit where it is due, just because the hospital has not met everyone’s standards in expectations in every way, does not mean that we are not lucky to have them in our community. The CCH has saved many lives in Cornwall and the surrounding area, and they have clearly been putting in a strong effort to improve their services to the community.

Also, don’t take my word for it. This past week I received messages from readers that they asked me to publish in this paper praising the care they received at the CCH. You can find these messages in the Scuttlebutt section of this week’s paper and they are just two examples of the messages of thanks I hear or am sent about our hospital on an almost weekly basis. Jim McDonell: Queen’s Park Report Good news this week as the provincial government followed through on its commitment to announce municipal funding in advance of budget preparation. The Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) will be continued for 2020 in our riding at essentially the same level as the current year. The fund is dependent on a number of factors, including population and average property assessments, causing individual municipal amounts to vary somewhat. For the city of Cornwall, the 2020 funding increased by $218,500. This week, the government marked Small Business Week in Stormont-DundasSouth Glengarry, and the rest of the province, which is home to more than 400,000 small businesses. These job creators — from our family farms to high-performing manufacturers, to bustling logistics outlets that distribute a wealth of goods across the country — account for almost 98 per cent of all businesses in Ontario. These businesses excel and prosper when a government allows them to focus on doing what they do best - creating jobs for hardworking Ontarians. This is one of the most important priorities the government has. Youth unemployment is

stubbornly high in Ontario, almost double the average rate. By making job creation a priority, this government wants young adults to have a quicker entry into the workforce. One of our first actions was to enact a one-to-one journeyperson to apprentice ratio. Since making this change, construction apprenticeships have increased by almost 25 per cent. These are some of the best paying jobs in Ontario, and qualified workers are desperately needed to fill current shortages. The government has also established the new Small Business and Red Tape Reduction Ministry. It will focus specifically on supporting Ontario’s vital small businesses in the area of growth and creating a more competitive investment climate. This action is the next step in government’s sweeping legislation passed in April, The Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act. The bill was designed to help businesses grow by reducing regulatory burdens in 12 sectors, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and automotive. This government’s move to improve efficiencies has resulted in more than 100 actions that will modernize and streamline

regulations, end overlap with the federal government and municipalities, update or revoke old or out-of-date requirements, and simplify complicated rules. Above all, the government understands that cutting red tape is a top concern for small businesses. We have seen how unnecessary regulatory burdens can hold back investment and job creation. The government is determined to eliminate the red tape that the public sector and business owners deal with that don’t maintain important regulations for the health and safety of Ontarians and our environment. For example, an unnecessary layer of regulation was removed that forced municipalities to undergo environmental assessments when they wanted to refresh and beautify main streets by planting trees and installing benches and pedestrian lighting. The government is supporting initiatives that will result in a strong economic impact, such as the high-tech sector, which can tap into Regional Innovation Centres to access mentors, investors and industry experts. And, because we want to see Ontario companies of all stripes grow into

A 1961 Halloween night fire that left the five-story, 80-year-old former Stormont Mill on the south bank of Cornwall Canal a smouldering shell had fire and police officials scratching their heads for a cause. The fire was soaked in Halloween Eve mystery. Empty since the mill, owned by Canadian Cottons Ltd., shut down in 1953, the building had been cleaned out of equipment and the power long before disconnected which raised questions about how the fire could have started. The fire was called the most spectacular since the Aug. 7, 1933 fire that destroyed a large section of the downtown. For the first hour of the fire officials considered evacuating the 115 MacDonell Memorial Hospital patients. The hospital was just 100 yards south of the blaze which sent red hot flaming embers hundreds of feet into the air and over Water Street. It could be seen far away as Long Sault. Volunteers manned the hospital roof with fire extinguishers and the Charlottenburgh Fire Brigade was called in to help. The threat ended when the southerly wind shifted. The blaze attracted an estimated 10,000 spectators. The first theory was that the fire was set by Halloween pranksters. But days later, as the investigation wrapped up, Fire Chief Lucien Carriere offered a different possibility. He noted that a crew had been in the building earlier in the week dismantling the sprinkler system with cutting torches. Investigators believed that tiny sparks

could have landed in a foot-deep pile of debris where they smouldered until igniting. However, no official cause was determined and the door was left open to the possibility it was arson. The fire sealed the fate of the annual Santa Claus parade which was up in the air. All 16 parade floats stored in the building were lost. *********** After 40 years in the restaurant business, J. J. McDonald who owned and operated Shirley’s Restaurant on Second Street West, a skip-and-a-hop east of Augustus Street, sold to a Montreal group who kept the name but re-opened as a Chinese restaurant. (It is now called the Panda House). Shirley’s was a favourite haunt/meeting place for local students and young people. McDonald opened his first Shirley’s restaurant in Alexandria in the 1920s but after a few years moved to Cornwall on Second Street East just across from St. John’s Presbyterian Church. The site became home to the Jade Garden Restaurant when Shirley’s re-located to the Colonial Coach bus terminal next to Ed Warner’s Garage which was adjacent to the Cornwallis Hotel. The garage and terminal were destroyed in a 1951 fire. The new terminal became part of an addition to the Cornwallis Hotel and Shirley’s moved next door to its final site, now the Panda House. Another favorite haunt for students came to a close this week in 1961 when James Lebano sold his building at Fourth and Amelia Streets that doubled as a home and convenience store to the collegiate school board. The property was needed to expand the CCVS athletic field. The school didn’t have an athletic field and used the Athletic Grounds for home football games and track meets. Lebano built the house

SUDBURY, Ontario - Le Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) est fier d’annoncer que le projet des Petits entrepreneurs du CSDCEO et François Bazinet, président du CSDCEO, ont été récompensés lors de la remise des Prix de reconnaissance de l’Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario (AFO), qui se tenait le samedi 26 octobre 2019, à Sudbury. Le CSDCEO a reçu le Prix de l’horizon franco-ontarien pour son initiative « Les Petits entrepreneurs du CSDCEO ». Celle-ci s’adresse aux élèves de 4 à 12 ans qui désirent explorer leur fibre entrepreneuriale. Durant l’année scolaire, les élèves ont accès à des mentors du domaine entrepreneurial qui les ont guidés pour la mise sur pied de leur entreprise. Pour sa part, François Bazinet a reçu le Prix Florent-Lalonde pour son dévouement indéniable à la francophonie. Ce dernier s’implique depuis longtemps dans de nombreux organismes francophones ainsi que dans le milieu de l’éducation francophone. Au cours de la dernière décennie, François Bazinet est devenu le spécialiste des projets de Monuments de la francophonie dans l’Est ontarien. Finalement, nous tenons à souligner les deux nominations de M. Félix Saint-Denis, animateur culturel au CSDCEO. M. Saint-Denis était finaliste pour le Prix Florent-Lalonde, qui reconnaît les efforts et l’engagement d’un bénévole au sein de la communauté, ainsi que pour le Prix Paulette Gagnon, un prix qui honore les efforts et le cheminement professionnel exemplaire d’une personne à l’endroit de la communauté francophone. « Je tiens à féliciter M. Bazinet et M. Saint-Denis qui font rayonner la francophonie ontarienne. Je tiens également à souligner le travail qui est fait autant au bureau central que dans les écoles afin d’assurer le succès, année après année, du projet des Petits entrepreneurs. Nous pouvons être fiers des membres de notre communauté scolaire et de nos élèves. », de partager M. François Turpin, directeur de l’éducation et secrétaire.

François Bazinet Le Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) est le plus grand réseau d’écoles de langue française dans les cinq comtés de Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott et Russell. En plus d’avoir le plus haut taux de diplomation de la région (93,9 %), le CSDCEO offre des programmes pour la réussite de tous les élèves, des valeurs catholiques, un français de qualité et un certificat de bilinguisme. Le CSDCEO assure l’éducation à plus de 10 100 élèves, répartis dans plusieurs centres de la petite enfance (garderies), 25 écoles élémentaires, 7 écoles secondaires et le Centre d’éducation et de formation de l’Est ontarien (CÉFEO).

Le Bureau de santé de l’est de l’Ontario (BSEO) informe le public qu’à partir d’aujourd’hui, les manufacturiers peuvent légalement présenter une demande auprès de Santé Canada pour commencer à préparer de nouveaux types de produits du cannabis. Ceci signifie que les produits comestibles achetés légalement, les extraits, les produits topiques et les produits de vapotage à base de THC pourraient être disponibles au public auprès de la Société ontarienne du cannabis (OCS) dès la mi-décembre. Étant donné que les produits de cannabis comestibles ont l’air de nourriture ou de bonbons ordinaires, ils peuvent attirer les enfants et les jeunes. Les personnes qui achètent ou préparent leurs propres produits de cannabis comestibles devraient donc instaurer les mesures préventives suivantes : • Les ranger dans des contenants à l’épreuve des enfants • Étiqueter les produits pour assurer que les autres savent ce qui se trouve dans les contenants • Les ranger hors de la vue et de la portée, de préférence dans un endroit verrouillé pour éviter que les enfants ou les adultes qui n’ont pas d’idée les prennent par mégarde « Nous saisissons l’occasion de rappeler au public que s’ils font des achats ou des préparations de cannabis comestible, ils doivent être attentifs à la manière et l’endroit qu’ils utiliseront pour les ranger », dit Dr Paul Roumeliotis, Médecin hygiéniste du BSEO. « Les aliments et les bonbons qui contiennent du cannabis peuvent être très dangereux pour les enfants et les animaux de compagnie. » Les gens qui prévoient acheter des produits de cannabis comestibles de l’OCS ou d’en préparer eux-mêmes devraient aussi tenir compte de ce qui suit : • Commencez par des doses plus faibles : des produits dont la teneur en THC est plus faible (2,5 mg de THC est un bon point de départ pour un utilisateur novice). • Allez-y doucement : attendez avant d’en reprendre plus puisque l’effet peut prendre de 30 minutes à 2 heures pour se faire sentir. Ceci pourrait permettre de réduire le risque de surconsommation qui peut causer une expérience désagréable. • Les effets de la consommation de cannabis comestible peuvent durer beaucoup plus longtemps que de le fumer ou vapoter (12 heures et dans certains cas jusqu’à 24 heures). Her first love was her parents, James and Victoria Irvine. As a young girl growing up in Greenfield Park, Quebec, she had a passion and a love for everything about horses and her Celtic-Scottish heritage. She was a student at MacDonald Cartier Memorial High School and then went on to study archaeology at Trent University. Her long time passion for a farm with many animals started 30 years ago. Coursed in farming technology and animal care, she founded her vision of Excalibur Farm in Monkland. Along the way, she studied Cartology and started a business named Excalibur Brass Rubbing, based on her passion of medieval English and Celtic objects. An avid shooter, she was also a member of both the Grenville Fish & Game Club and Cornwall Handgun Club. She was also a member of the Ottawa Valley Live Steamers & Model Engineers, continuing her father’s passion of live steam engines.

Vera (Procter) Hanley, in her 97th year, beloved wife and best friend of the late Robbie Hanley for 55 years. Cyclocross racers from across eastern Ontario and western Quebec will be descending on Cornwall for the sixth leg of the nine-stop Eastern Ontario Cyclocross Series on Nov. 3. The racing will take place along the Cornwall waterfront in the area around Marina 200, east of the Cornwall Civic Complex. The hills and elevations in the area make it a suitable location for cyclocross racing. The Eastern Ontario Cyclocross Series kicked off in September and wraps up at the end of November. Downtown Cornwall is the place to be on Wednesday, November 6th as dozens of merchants will be joining forces to showcase their newest collections and introduce shoppers to current trends during the Shop the Blocks. Shoppers will be able to take advantage of new product launches, incentives, giveaways, draws, product demonstrations and much more!

He picks up the girl and they go to the dance. There is a long line into the dance, so they wait and wait. Finally, they get into the dance, and the Congratulations to Amy Gillespie of the guy offers to get the girl a drink. She asks for Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation on punch, so he goes to the drink table, and another great gala this past Saturday. there is no punch line. Ring in the holiday season with a great Cornwall Christmas tradition, the Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 16! The parade starts at St. Lawrence Secondary School and travels west on Second Street to Augustus Street. The parade concludes with an awards ceremony at the Civic Complex.
