CORNWALL, Ontario – This Saturday, May 26, the 14th annual Rachel’s Kids Garden Party and Charity Auction for Rachel’s Kids House of Hope will be taking place at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club. So far, it looks like it will be a beautiful day for this year’s event. Co-chairing the event this year is Sean Cowan, a Grade 9 student attending St. Lawrence Secondary School. Sean was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia in 2015, but is nearing his goal of recovery, with his last appointment for chemo happening this month. Chemo brought Sean’s blood cell count down to a low level, and he had to stay in his room, in isolation, for a year and a half. Rachel’s Kids helped Sean break his isolation by getting him a Playstation4, a TV and a nice setup in his room. “The PS4 helped,” he said. “It gave me some-
thing to do and I could talk to my friends.” Money raised by the Garden Party fundraiser go to support Rachel’s Kids programs like their Small Moments of Joy program. The Small Moments of Joy program aims to do just that, bring a small moment of joy to a child suffering through a life-threatening or chronic illness. The first child helped through the Small Moments of Joy program was Joel Fast. Joel lives with developmental delays as a result of cancer treatment. Through the Small Moments of Joy program, Rachel’s Kids provided Joel with a pool. Since then, more than 50 kids have been helped throughout Cornwall and SD&G through the Small Moments of Joy program. Last year, the Garden Party raised $161,000 for Rachel’s Kids House of Hope The event will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will have live music delicious food, a silent and live auction and more. CORNWALL, Ontario - With no fruitful negotiations taking place between the City of Cornwall, and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), paramedics, librarians and outside workers are now on strike. “It certainly didn’t need to come to this,” said Amanda Palieps, president of paramedic local CUPE 5734, “but the City walked away from us on Tuesday afternoon and we didn’t see them or hear from them at all on Wednesday. We needed to be talking to hammer out a deal. It takes dialogue to bargain. Their absence tells us they were not serious about avoiding a strike.” The local CUPE representing inside workers could be on strike next week as well if no agreement is reached between them and the City by May 23. “The City made what they called a “final offer” on Tuesday,” said Alison Denis, CUPE National Representative. “Whatever they choose to call it, it contained all the same problems that yielded a 93% strike vote two months ago. Our members gave us a resounding direction with that strike vote. We’re very willing to try and find a resolution that works for both parties. But that would require the City to be here, actually bargaining. That is how this strike will get resolved.” The paramedics are limited in their strike action by their shared service agreements. Instead of the usual compliment of nine ambulances coering Cornwall, there now will be only three. Most of the striking employees have been

without a contract since 2016. Cornwall library workers have been without a contract since 2015. “Every time CUPE members answer an ambulance call, repair a water main, fill a pothole, or

Cornwall Walk for ALS on June 2 Shawna O’Neill, Special to TC Media CORNWALL, Ontario – The WALK for ALS will be happening on June 2 this year, starting at St. Lawrence College at 9:30 a.m. Mark Vivarais, 61, was diagnosed with ALS in December of 2017 and is this year’s WALK for ALS ambassador. Mark was really inspired to take on an advocating role for the disease after meeting the husband of a 29-year-old Ottawa woman who was recently diagnosed with ALS. So when ALS Canada contacted Mark about the walk, he quickly agreed to be the local face for this year’s fundraiser. “Even though I have it, I think it hurt me more knowing that young girl has it,” said Mark. Mark is greatly supported by his wife of over 40 years, Sandra Vivarais, and his entire family. All five of his grandchildren will be attending the walk, including Keaten Ayotte, 3, who helps Mark with everything he can. According to Sandra, ALS Canada has been very supportive in providing equipment and services to help with the disease. But she understands that accommodating people with ALS can become a heavy financial burden. “If they need different equipment for all the stages of the disease, it becomes really costly,” said Sandra. “That’s why ALS Canada is so important.” The Vivarais’ are hoping to surpass last year’s donations and raise $35,000. They are eternally grateful for all the support and donations they’ve received so far. “You know what I wish people would do?” said Mark. “Just take their time and say ‘why a

Nancy Tranchemontagne and Lazzarina Tantalo organized the event with the help of numerous businesses and the parish itself. “The people like this type of event, they
never see it anywhere else, so just the comradery and the tasting of the food of course,” explained Lazzarina. The church was able to bring 20 different cultures to their table and donations by Farmboy, Casa Paolo, and Philos. Similar to a potluck, several members of the parish brought a dish and when they all came together they were able to fill their table with the cuisine of the world.

CORNWALL, Ontario - The Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) held their annual East End Station Open House on Montreal Rd. on Thursday, May 17, 2018. “This is a great event to get our community partners out,” said CCPS Communications Officer Stephanie MacRae. “It gives people a taste of what we do.” This year, the event took place in the midafternoon through to the evening, starting at 3 p.m. and going until 7 p.m. MacRae said that the event was taking place
later in the day this year to really encourage parents to come out to the East End station with their kids. Community partners and the CCPS set up displays in the East End Station parking lot. Community partners present this year included the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service CBSA, the CN Rail police, Crime Stoppers, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the OPP, the OSPCA and the RCMP. Inside the East End Station was a display on the CCPS dispatch system, so that kids and parents could learn what it is like when the police receive a call for service.

Humble Beginnings Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Provided by Humble Beginnings Brewing Co. INGLESIDE, Ontario - This May, Humble Beginnings Brewing Co. (HBBCo.) in Ingleside, Ontario, has partnered with Cystic Fibrosis Canada in a fundraising initiative. In hopes of raising a substantial sum of money to support Cystic Fibrosis Canada, HBBCo. brewed a beer specifically for the fundraiser. “Our business plan always included opportunities to give back” said Pierre Doucette, coowner of HBBCo. “Our “65 Roses Red IPA” is designed to do just that. One hundred percent of the sales from this beer will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada to help those living with cystic fibrosis (CF) and those researching
improved care and a cure.” Co-owners Pierre Doucette and Susan Wallwork announced the fundraiser on April 28th at the grand opening of HBBCo. in Ingleside, Ontario. “We are very excited for the partnership” said Ms. Wallwork. “To date, we have raised over $3,000 and we’ve received a lot of support from our customers on the initiative”. CORNWALL, Ontario - Cornwall is in a state of crisis regarding its lack of family physicians. “I think Cornwall has been in a crisis for a while,” said Dr. Jennifer Ingram-Crooks. IngramCrooks is based outside of the city at the St. Lawrence Medical Clinic (SLMC), but 80 per cent of her patients reside in Cornwall. “A lot of the physicians are retiring, and they have very large rosters,” said Ingram-Crooks. “And the new grads don’t want to take that on. Lifestyle is very much important to the new grads and they don’t want to do the long hours…they just want to come in, see their patients, do their charts, do their paperwork and go home. You can’t do that if you have too many patients — there’s not enough hours in the day.” Currently there are no family doctors accepting patients in Cornwall. According to Ingram-Crooks, the government considers a
roster to be approximately 1,500 patients. But local retiring doctors usually have 2,000 or more patients, so new graduates replacing these retirees would be taking on more work than average. “Also if you’re not from this area, you don’t necessarily always want to come here,” said Ingram-Crooks. Ingram-Crooks acknowledges that Cornwall has tried to entice family medicine. The city’s medical recruitment team gave its first scholarship to Dr. Vanessa Carter through a return of service contract. This requires her to practice family medicine locally, and have hospital privileges, for at least five years. According to Carter, candidates for this scholarship are required to be from Cornwall or the counties and study medicine. She believes there are currently two doctors in training who have signed this contract. Cornwall isn’t present on the Rurality Index for Ontario (RIO), which provides incentives to doctors who work in rural communities. But our
neighbours North Stormont, North and South Glengarry and North and South Dundas are on the list. These areas average an incentive value of approximately $80, 000 over four years. This index may attract doctors to especially rural areas and consequently overshadow small cities like Cornwall. Although nurse practitioners have different skill sets than family physicians, they can act as primary care providers when necessary, according to Ingram-Crooks. She recommends that people without family doctors contact Health Care Connect, which is a provincially funded program that will attempt to register patients with doctors — whether those doctors are accepting patients or not. The program assigns priority based on certain criteria, for example children and individuals with chronic illness are prioritized. Robyn Guindon, the pharmacist/manager at Wholehealth Pharmacy, said that pharmacists are trying to help fill this gap in care. Guindon said that pharmacists can do medication

Cornwall BMX Track Approaching Finish Line Shawna O’Neill, Special to TC Media CORNWALL, Ontario – The city’s first BMX track, located in Guindon Park, is set to open on June 11. “June 11 is our scheduled opening date,” said Dan Drouin, the Track Operator and one of the Managers of BMX Cornwall. “That’s weather permitting, and assuming everything gets finished off in time.” After five years of trying to bring a BMX track to Cornwall, the Cornwall BMX Club can almost see the finish line. According to Drouin, the track is almost rideable, aside from a few areas that need to be cleaned up. “This is a very weather dependent sport,” said Drouin. “The surface we’re riding on is mostly like a clay. So once it gets wet, it’s really hard to work with.” The track is a part of the Canada and USA BMX Sanction, so membership is universal across North America. Drouin is hoping that the track and scheduled races will draw attention from both sides of the border because of its accessible location. The building of the track started last summer, but there were setbacks due to the
weather. Fortunately, there are tracks in Ottawa and Kingston where BMX athletes can compete. Drouin believes that BMX is growing in popularity in Ontario with tracks cropping up and expanding, and BMX Canada seeing an increase in membership. “It’s kind of a niche sport right now, but it’s something that’s kind of growing into the mainstream, especially since it became an Olympic sport in 2008,” said Drouin. According to Drouin, the sport tends to entice entire families to participate. Drouin, his daughter Sophie and his son Sam all partake in racing. Drouin thinks that the sport is affordable and provides an encouraging atmosphere. Once the track is complete, it will be open to the public during daylight hours in the summer. The track is allowed to be used by anyone with a bike that is in good working order and a helmet. Sanctioned races will occur once a week. The Cornwall BMX Club is looking for sponsors and volunteers to help make races possible. The club currently posts on their Facebook page when they are planning to do track maintenance. The Games Announce The 2018 Guest of Honour Provided by the Glengarry Highland Games MAXVILLE, Ontario - The Glengarry Highland Games are proud to announce that the 2018 Guest of Honour will be Captain Robert (Bob) Pearson. Thirty-five years ago this summer, Canada had its own Miracle on the Hudson when Captain Robert (Bob) Pearson brought his Air Canada Boeing 767 to a safe landing in Gimli, Manitoba. On July 23, 1983 on what was to be a routine flight from Montreal to Edmonton, the plane’s engines shut down 41,000 feet over Manitoba half way through the trip. Due to the change in Canada to metric measurement that year and a computer glitch, there had been confusion in filling the fuel tanks and the jet had run out of fuel. Pearson and his First Officer Maurice Quintal were forced to
switch to manual controls as the plane plummeted downwards at 2000 feet per minute. Thanks to Pearson’s gliding experience, he was able to float the 80 tonne jumbo jet and its 69 passengers and 8 Capt. Robert Pearson crew down onto a decommissioned Air Force runway in Gimli, Manitoba to the shock and surprise of people using the site for dragstrip racing. Incredibly everyone walked away unharmed. The amazing landing brought changes to future pilot training to include this possibility with large jets. It was another 26 years before Captain Sully used a similar move to save his flight by landing on the Hudson River in New York City.
Captain Pearson went on to fly for another dozen years before he retired in 1995 after 38 years as a commercial pilot. Interestingly, the Gimli Glider was repaired and flew on for Air Canada for another 25 years until it was retired in 2008. Thirty-five years later, the Gimli Glider and its pilot are still making headlines and it seems that people can’t get enough of this story. Last year Hollywood came calling and the story is planned to be released as a full feature movie. Pearson since retiring has remained active as an expert witness in aviation accidents and running his 100 acre farm in North Glengarry with his spouse Pearl. Pearl Dion was a passenger on the Gimli flight and they reconnected at the 30th anniversary of the landing in 2013 and found they had more than the landing in common. The Glengarry Highland Games is pleased to welcome Bob Pearson along with his wife Pearl as the 2018 Guest of Honour and fittingly in
celebration of the 35th anniversary of his heroic efforts at Gimli. Pearson notes, “Having had a keen interest in the Glengarry Highland Games over many years, we very much look forward to opening this year’s Games “. Games President Lindsay MacCulloch states, “We are very excited to have Mr. Pearson as our Guest of Honour for this year’s edition of the Glengarry Highland Games. His remarkable ability and heroism saved the lives of all passengers and crew. You trust someone to drive a car, but you don’t trust them to vote? Traditionally, young adults have been the voting block that tends to have the lowest voter turnout and maybe this could be fixed if they were allowed to start voting at a younger age. Get them while they’re still in high school. Give the students an extra credit if they go out and vote. Have a polling station in high schools just for students. All of these things I believe would increase the amount of young people voting in our elections and hopefully create lifelong voters at the same time. There are currently two different elections running simultaneously, the provincial election and the municipal election. Elections for both of these levels of government also traditionally

To start with, I struggled with the grammatical problem presented by this column’s title. Should it be “Eggs and Me” or “Eggs and I”? It was settled by the title of the movie, “The Egg and I”, that flashed into my head. That famous archivist, Dr. Google, told me that Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray starred in that 1947movie, one

Something needs to change to increase voter turnout for provincial and municipal elections because these levels of government have the greatest direct impact on our dayto-day lives and arguably, these levels of government affect young people the most. Education, health care, public transit are all issues that have a significant impact on young people, so young people should have a say in how policy is formed at this level. Going back to my original point though, if we as a society feel that 16 is an age where you can be trusted to operate a vehicle, a potential lethal weapon, but are not trustworthy enough to comprehend political issues and vote, then where are our priorities at? In fact, I would think that students who are in school and are better qualified than some to vote in elections. Once you are out of school, even the
best students can disengage themselves from politics and the issues, but while you are in high school classes, like civics, you are more likely to be engaged because you have to be. Think for a moment about some of the adults who are allowed to vote now, do you think they are more

of the first films I ever saw in a cinema. Eggs have always been a part of my diet and my culture. I’ve eaten them scrambled, over easy, hard-boiled, soft-boiled, poached and in omelets. The Ukrainian Easter ritual of my childhood always included pysanki, artistically-decorated eggs. The first time I ever ordered an egg in a restaurant was c. 1948, in a Toronto eatery called ‘The Tennessee Diner’ (now called the Tennessee Pub, very yuppy and up-scale, but still at 1554 Queen St. W.). Until that time, my breakfasts had always been at home. The waitress queried me about how I wanted
my egg done. Without hesitation, I replied “Yooshka”. Looking up from her note pad, she glowered at me and repeated, “How do you want your eggs?” Only then, I realized I did not know the Canadian term for ‘over easy’. Above the din of the busy restaurant, all I could hear was “How do you want your eggs?” That’s when I blurted out, “Scrambled.” These days, one of the breakfast specials I prepare is called ‘Egg in a Hole’. If I were operating a restaurant at a golf course, I’d call it ‘A Hole in One’. Butter a slice of bread on both sides. Using the 3
¼” diameter lip of a drinking glass, remove the centre of the bread and place it on a pre- heated frying pan. Apply a little dab of butter slightly offcentre of the frying pan. Place the slice of bread over it, then introduce an egg into the hole. Cover until done to suit, then flip it and the accompanying round of toast over briefly. Serve with any preferred garnish or accompaniment, such as hash browns, tomato slices or asparagus tips. Et voila! Bob’s your uncle! You now have an over easy ‘Egg in a Hole’, accompanied by a dainty round of toast. Coming soon to a Tim’s near you? I’ll have a ‘double double’ with that, please.

letter to the editor Dear Editor, I am totally opposed to the city purchasing the waterfront as Cornwall simply cannot afford it. I recall reading in this paper that the budget took forever to be approved this year and that in the final plan, taxes were being raised more than most had hoped, several cuts were being
made and even so Cornwall will still need to borrow money to meet this year’s commitments. So where would the funds come from to buy this land? More borrowing against no new income stream. While I agree with Lily Worral’s desire to have all this wonderful parkland available - it is

Cornwall lawyer Sean Adams, who actually finds time to run a busy law practice while lugging a heavy load of charitable causes, should have been in the fight promotion game. He has managed to put two of the fight game’s biggest 1980s-era warriors back in the ring. Last year Adams tracked down former No. 1 heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney and “talked” him into being the celebrity guest for the Children’s Treatment Centre’s Boxing for a Change fundraiser. Cooney had no idea where Cornwall was or who Adams was, but it didn’t take long for the lawyer to get Cooney signed on for the guest appearance. So impressed was Cooney that he agreed to come back for this year’s event - Saturday at the Cornwall Civic Complex - but this time he is bringing a guest, who like Cooney, was “talked” into coming by Adams. And so, on Saturday night Larry Holmes, former champion and one of the all-time greats, will be joining Cooney, a former adversary, at the event. The two are now friends. The last time anyone saw Holmes and Cooney together at the civic complex was on June 11, 1982 when the two battled - Holmes the champ, Cooney the No. 1 contender - for 13 rounds at Caesar’s Palace with Holmes scoring a TKO. The Shop was the last adult club in the city, and will probably be the last of its kind in the city. Before the days of direct deposits, the tavern carried enough cash on Thursdays to cash paper mill employee cheques. It was a great marketing tool. The building started life as a boarding/ rooming house with a small grocery store in the large front room. Years later it was purchased by Dr. Elzear Emard who turned it into a hotel. Local athlete slated to play at Youth Olympic Games CORNWALL, Ontario - Sydney Seymour, 17, is hoping to compete for the Canada women’s U-18 rugby team at the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina this October. This past winter, Seymour trained with Rugby Canada as a travelling reserve in Las Vegas for two weeks. “I found I learned a lot more from that,” said Seymour. “I learned a lot of new skills. It made me a better rugby player, going.” Seymour has won several awards for her rugby achievements. She has won four awards with the Cornwall Lions Club, the Brockville Sirens MVP award, Senior Athlete of the Year at her high school and the Cornwall Claymores Women’s U18 award. “In Cornwall, people don’t realize there’s a lot of good athletes, and there’s a lot of good rugby players,” said Seymour. “But nobody knows how to look at them because nobody knows the skill set for Ontario or Eastern Ontario.” Seymour is currently in grade 12 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School and has been playing rugby for four years. In grade 9
Seymour made her high school team, but her mother thought the sport was too dangerous. Seymour’s coach convinced her mother that she was needed on the team. She quit playing other sports in grade 10 to dedicate herself to rugby. “I honestly like everything about rugby,” said Seymour. Seymour is going back to high school this fall to improve her grades. Next year she’s hoping to go to a university that’s close to home. She’s specifically interested in the University of Ottawa because she knows two of the Rugby Canada coaches there. She’s also hoping that she will continue playing with the Ontario 7s. Seymour has played with both Eastern Ontario and Ontario before. Unfortunately, Seymour recently sustained a knee injury at a high school tournament. “I find high school games kind of dangerous because nobody knows how to play [properly],” said Seymour. Seymour is doing physiotherapy twice a week until she can get an MRI to see exactly what the injury entails. She is still planning on going to Argentina in the fall, but understands that other people will be fighting for her spot.

SSPN SEAWAYSPORTING NEWS High tide of Waterfest set for August 11 CORNWALL, Ontario – The highly anticipated local dragon boat racing will take place during Waterfest on August 11. “Emard Lumber puts a boat in every year,” said Chris Emard from Emard Bros. Lumber. “Because my wife and I were quite familiar with dragon boating before Waterfest came to Cornwall, we jumped on it right away. We wanted to participate because it’s such a fun event.” According to Emard, Waterfest has been raising funds to support Hospice for the past three years. This year, funds will be raised through a Silent Auction, 50/50 draw and pledge forms. Teams can pay $840 for a boat, which is equivalent to $40 per person. Each team must have 20 rowers and one drummer. Boats and equipment are provided by 22Dragons. “Quite a few local teams from last year are coming back on board and we have some teams coming down from Ottawa again,” said Emard. On the day of the races, there will be competitive and non-competitive divisions. According to Emard, anyone can participate and be successful, regardless of their athleticism.
“The races are about anywhere from 55 to 60 seconds long,” said Emard. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned athlete or if you’re in your 70s. Everybody has fun and it’s a good experience.” This year the organizing committee is looking into implementing the suggestions that were made on Waterfest’s Facebook page. This includes better viewing areas, announcing the race starts, more food vendors and a beer garden. For every $50 someone raises, a ballot will be entered into a draw to win one night in Toronto and see the Mirvish musical Come From Away. “There are food vendors and art vendors as well, so it’s a nice little market area for people to shuffle around in between races, or for the people who are coming to watch the races,” said Emard. “We’re trying to really encourage local companies to sponsor a team.” Waterfest will be taking place at the Old Cornwall Canal on Power Dam Drive near the soccer field. CORNWALL, Ontario – Golfers will take to the green at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, July 18 in support of the annual Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Golf tournament. So far, the event has confirmed that 144 golfers and 30 volunteers will be taking part to help make the event a success. While the event is sold out, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Cornwall is
accepting names for their waitlist. “I look forward to meeting each and every one of the golfers and want to thank all the sponsors for their continuous support and dedication,” said Ron Graham, Executive Director of Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Cornwall. The event will have a BBQ lunch and a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start with games at each hole. After a fun day of golf, golfers will be treated to a Prime Rib dinner with the opportunity to bid many quality prizes in the silent auction. Money raised through the event will go

The Barra MacNeils are step dancing their way to Cornwall Shawna O’Neill, Special to TC Media CORNWALL, Ontario - The celtic Canadian group The Barra MacNeils are coming to the Cornwall Aultsville Theatre on May 28, performing songs from their newest album On The Bright Side. “We’ve played many times there (in Cornwall) but it’s been a few years,” said Stewart MacNeil, one of the group’s musicians. “It’s nice to be coming back. We have some good friends in the area, so it will be nice to see some folks and catch up with how things are going.” The Barra MacNeils, a musical group of siblings based out of Cape Breton Island, have been performing and making music together for over 30 years. According to Stewart, the group’s latest album On The Bright Side will contain new music and some of their greatest hits. He thinks that some of the songs will make you feel like you’re in a Cape Breton kitchen party, and others may move you to tears. “This is the first non Christmas tour we’ve done in Ontario in a number of years and it gives good reason to celebrate,” said Stewart. According to Stewart, the band was invited to play at the 30th annual East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) earlier this month. “We got to play some of our new material and it was really well received,” said Stewart. The new album will contain some songs in Gaelic, some traditional music and some newer, more upbeat songs. Stewart wrote some of the
songs himself and he believes that his sister Lucy’s vocals have never sounded better. Stewart is grateful for having the opportunity to perform with his siblings for over 30 years. “It’s been quite a rollercoaster,” said Stewart. “As time goes on I think it’s something that we cherish more. We appreciate it because I think we know there will be a time when we wont be touring anymore.” Stewart thinks most of Barra MacNeil’s fans were garnered from touring throughout the world, but he encourages new fans to keep up with the band on social media. Cornwall Chef Ryan Beauvais placed second in the under 26 category in the recent Copper Skillet competition that took place in April in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “In Grade 11 I had to take a class, I couldn’t take a spare,” he said. “I took a cooking class and found it easy. I actually learned a lot in that class.” Beauvais, 20, has been cooking professionally for three years and has said that he has learned a lot about cooking from mentors like Chef Luc McCabe of the NAV Centre. Please Return Razor Scooter Would the middle aged women with long blonde hair who was driving either a midnight blue or black truck please return the bright pink Razor scooter that you took off the lawn at 18 Monaco Crescent on Wednesday May 16th. My granddaughter, who has been told not to go up the driveway near cars with her scooter, had but it down about 2 feet up on the lawn next to the driveway while she was outside on the other side of the driveway playing with friends. Unfortunately I could not get outside fast enough to tell you that it had not been put out to trash or for scrap metal pickers to pickup. FYI Tuesday is garbage pickup day for this area. If you still have her scooter we would be very grateful if you would return it to us. Mistakes happen and hopeful you can still make this right.
Baby Lyse and her mother Melina Decour Pasteur are both doing fine after an early roadside delivery. Baby Lyse was scheduled to be born on May 20, but decided to arrive early on the afternoon of May 8. Her mother Melina was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital when they had to pull over because Lyse had decided that it was time to arrive. She weighed six pounds, 11 ounces.

Josh Barnes will remain with the Cornwall Colts for the 2018-2019 season, but after that he is off to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to play with the Penn State Nittany Lions starting in the 2020-2021 season.

As your driver, I attended all of them, and even though I don’t know anything about science, I could give the conference in your place.” “That’s a great idea!” says Einstein. “Let’s switch places then!” So they switch clothes and as soon as they arrive, the driver dressed as Einstein goes on stage and starts giving the usual speech, while the real Einstein, dressed as the car driver, attends it. But in the crowd, there is one scientist who wants to impress everyone and thinks of a very difficult question to ask Einstein, hoping he won’t be able to respond. So this guy stands up and interrupts the conference by posing his very difficult question. The whole room goes silent, holding their breath, waiting for the response. The driver looks at him, dead in the eye, and says : “Sir, your question is so easy to answer that I’m going to let my driver reply to it for me.”

Work has begun on the new Maxville water system. Roads are being ripped up in the small North Glengarry village, but the roads that lead to the Highland Games should be back to normal by August 3 &4. The project will take up-to 24 months.

The St. Lawrence River Clean-up kicked off another year this past weekend. They started by cleaning up the area around the South Lancaster Wharf. In the past three years, the clean-up crew has pulled more than 20 tons of garbage out of the river.

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fundraiser supporting the Special Olympics. For 31 years, the Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) have done their part to support the cause, and this year was no different. On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, the CCPS helped escort a parade of supporters as they carried a Special Olympics torch through Cornwall in support of the Special Olympics.
