Le Village East of Downtown Cornwall along Montreal Road lies the charming area known as Le Village. It offers a mix of professional offices, shops, restaurants and residential buildings. It’s also home to popular arts and entertainment venues like Aultsville Theatre, The Port Theatre and La Maison. A short stroll away is the popular Waterfront Trail and the Cotton Mill District, an historic industrial area that has been transformed into a mix of condos, restaurants and professional offices.

Heading east along Montreal Road you’ll find the NAV Centre, a sprawling convention

centre which includes a restaurant and pub, fitness centre, indoor pool and spa to complement over 500 guest rooms. Explore the Area Brookdale Avenue Avenue Brookdale The main artery connecting Highway 401 to the bridge to the USA, Brookdale Avenue – and Vincent Massey Drive - is home to a wide variety of national and local retailers, restaurants, hotels, motels and inns. Located just off of Brookdale is the Benson Centre, a multisport recreation facility offering three ice rinks, an indoor fieldhouse and tennis court. The Benson Centre welcomes dozens of tournaments and special events each year. The nearby Big Ben Ski Centre offers plenty of fun during the winter months while Archie’s and Cornwall Motor Speedway are bucket-list stops for family fun. West of Brookdale on Second Street is the St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre, an interactive venue that promises fun for children of all ages.

The cell blocks, common areas, exercise yard and visitation area have been maintained as they were when they were populated by inmates sentenced to jail time. St. Raphael’s Ruins Ruines de St. Raphael St. Raphaels This large stone church served a congregation of Gaelic-speaking Catholic Highlanders who had settled in the easternmost county of Upper Canada in 1786. Fire consumed the church in 1970 however the outer walls were preserved. The Ruins were declared a National Historic Site in 1999.

Long Sault The flooding during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1958 resulted in the loss of six villages and the creation of new ones.

Nor’Westers & Loyalist Museum Musée Nor’Westers & Loyalist

Williamstown The Museum illustrates the story of John Johnson and Loyalist followers who helped settle the region during the American Revolution in 1784. The Museum also features memorabilia from the influential Nor’Westers Company that was a significant part of the fur trade and the composition of Western Canada and the United States.

Le musée illustre l’histoire de John Johnson et ses adeptes loyalistes qui ont contribué à la colonisation de la région au cours de la révolution américaine de 1784. GOLF

The Cornwall area boasts an amazing array of golf courses that will provide a fun challenge for golfers of any ability.

You can always find a tee time at Summerheights Golf Links, the largest golf course in the region. Summerheights offers two dynamic 18-hole layouts with a full-service clubhouse and dining room.

Situated along the St. Lawrence River, the Cornwall Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s oldest golf clubs. The renowned course features lush fairways, challenging water hazards and small, speedy and tricky greens.

The Upper Canada Golf Course in Morrisburg was designed by noted architect Robbie Robinson and it offers glimpses of natural beauty and wildlife like no other course.

Other notable golf courses include the Glengarry Golf and Country Club in Alexandria, Cloverdale Links near Winchester, Heritage Golf Course in Lancaster along with nine-hole layouts in Morrisburg, Williamsburg and South Mountain.

WATER EAU The Cornwall area is truly a water lover’s paradise. We have it all – boating, beautiful beaches, picnic areas, dive sites and of course, fishing.

This angler’s paradise offers opportunities for virtually every freshwater fish.

Cornwall has two free boat launches – in Lamoureux Park below the power dam and Guindon Park above it.

The hub of boating activity on the Cornwall waterfront is Marina 200, a firstclass facility in Lamoureux Park just a short stroll away from Downtown Cornwall.

Transient slips are available and the marina is typically open from mid-May to October.

The St. Lawrence is a hotbed for divers, with over 40 dive sites throughout the region. Discover the famed ‘Lost Villages’ underwater cemetery, Rail Bridge and Lock 21 – known as one of Canada’s top 5 shore dives.

RUNNING COURIR If running is your passion, then you’ll find lots to discover in Cornwall. From scenic waterfront trails to loops with varying degrees of difficulty, Cornwall has a route for every runner.

The popular Waterfront Trail connects the entire region with a paved route along the St. Lawrence River. The Cornwall portion is completely separated from the roadway, offering scenic views in a safe setting. The City’s recreational path stretches a total of 40 km throughout the community. The network is complemented by the beautiful Long Sault Parkway to the west and numerous conservation areas.

5k races and friendly duathlons are held throughout the year. Larger organized events include the Run to End MS Marathon which attracts over 600 runners and the Cornwall Triathlon which attracts over 500 participants.

winter HIVER Cornwall comes alive during the winter months, with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities to keep you entertained.

Enjoy the majestic lights in Lamoureux Park along with tobogganing and other fun activities. Continue the outdoor adventure with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at Summerstown Trails and Guindon Park, skiing and snowboarding at Big Ben Ski Centre, curling at the Cornwall Curling Centre and skating at the Benson Centre or numerous outdoor rinks. Ice fishing, ATVing and snowmobiling are also popular winter activities in the region. If you’re a hockey fan make sure to check out a Cornwall Colts game at the Civic Complex.

CYCLING Cyclisme Cornwall is home to over 40 km of recreational paths and bike lanes, including the celebrated Waterfront Trail along the St. Lawrence River. The scenery and easy access attracts cyclists to the region from near and far. The Waterfront Trail is perfect for family cycle trips, with plenty to see and do along the way including great food, beautiful beaches and awesome attractions like Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, Lost Villages Museum in Long Sault and Cornwall Community Museum in Lamoureux Park.

You will find a number of cycle-friendly accommodations and bicycle shops in the City, with some offering bike rentals. The Cornwall Civic Complex in Lamoureux Park is the perfect spot to launch your next cycling adventure, with free parking available and numerous shops and restaurants located just steps away.

Cornwall is proudly recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition.
