A welcome message from friend of Cornwall Hospice Care and well known Cornish gardener George; A few weeks ago I obtained a tree and as a village, we planted it to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. There is great pleasure in planting a tree or shrub and watching them flourish over the next few years. It is what inspires us gardeners to keep on developing our gardens and continue planting because a tree or shrub keeps on giving.

That phrase “Keeps on Giving” reminds me of Cornwall Hospice Care who do just that. Yet again a close family member of mine received incredible palliative care from the charity. So it is with experience that I say the care and support offered by Cornwall Hospice Care is outstanding and deserves our support.

What better and easier way is there to support them, than by visiting a garden or two? Whatever size the garden may be, the keen garden visitor will usually find an unusual flower, fascinating feature or glorious view to interest them.

Then of course for those less worried about the green things, there is often a delightful range of refreshments and someone to have a natter with.

This year we range from quite small private gardens up to a large estate so there really is something for everyone. On behalf of Cornwall Hospice Care, it is also my great pleasure to welcome several new garden owners who are opening their gates to us for the first time and we hope for many years to come.

I do hope you will be able to visit some of these treasures and with a bit of luck, we will meet over a herbaceous border or a plate of chocolate biscuits.

Most of the gardens are private property, they are open through the generosity of their owners and often aren’t designed with members of the public visiting in mind.

•

Some gardens will be cash only so please arrive prepared.

•

Please take care when visiting the gardens and wear appropriate footwear - some may have uneven ground, water features, ponds, lakes, slopes and steps.

•

Stay on marked paths and take care not to damage plants and property.

•

Parking at the gardens is at your own risk - please don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle.
