The above saying is attributed to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who quipped something more along the lines of, “Life is flux.”
You may have heard that Memory Lane (Essex) Ltd completed the purchase of Corner Lodge Care home from Sanjay and Rahul Jagota on 16 April 2026.
We are now part of the Memory Lane Care Homes group, a small family run business that owns and operates 8care homes in the UK. Among those is Read House, in Frinton.

From our early observations, Corner Lodge, seems to be a warm, happy andfriendly homewhere the residents are well looked after by the Care team. We have spoken to a number of the staff, and theyseem tobe doing agreatjoband are looking forward to continuing doing that under our ownership.
But however you say it, the meaning is the same. All things change.
We look forward to this new beginning with Memory Lane.

We are planning to invest significantly in the home, particularly in improving the décor and overall environment. We are confident that you will begin to see and appreciate these improvements as they take shape.

In April, Charice got everyone busy crafting their own Easter Bonnet. A selection of felt bunnies and chicks, a variety of eggs, fabric flowers and Easter grass were available to decorate the hats. Even the Chef got involved, swapping his potato masher for a glue gun. When the bonnets were finished the residents had a mini-Easter parade to show off their creations.

During Morning Tea-time on Easter morning, the Easter Bunny, his carrot side-kick “Crunch”, and their eager team of helpers distributed Easter Eggs to the residents.
We’re so grateful to Inclusion Adventuresfor the Trishaw rides they donate to the residents. They come back to the home with wide smiles and full of stories about what they’ve seen.
There’s always time to stop for a treat whether it’s a pot of tea or an ice cream on the Pier. We wouldn’t be surprised if the staff escort doesn’t decide to treat a resident to a spin on the Pier rides!

After everyone received their egg, the residents and staff enjoyed Easter related arts and crafts, puzzles were solved, games were played, and cupcakes were eaten.

I searched for a holiday that is celebrated in a staff member’s home country. I had no success. But then the universe raised an eyebrow, gave me a wink, and I learned that 23rd May is “Drinking with Chickens” day, the 24th is “International Tiara Day”, and the 26th is “Paper Airplane Day.”

It will be interesting to see what Charice comes up with for activities.
The image was created by a collaboration between ChatGPT and me. It was fairly one-sided; I came up with the rough idea and ChatGPT put it all together.

More popular in the United States than in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has become associated with the celebration of MexicanAmerican culture. began in Columbia, California, where they have been observed annually since 1862,

On the 22nd April, Con sent us an email: “Yesterday whilst out with Ben & Mary on the trishaw, it developed a fault which meant disconnecting the electrical motor/battery. Luckily when it happened in Holland on Sea, I was able to turn around and having the wind behind my back helped greatly in getting back to Corner Lodge (but tiring none the less).”
“I have investigated the problem, and it looks as if the internal motor bearings have become worn and thus burned out. Unfortunately, this is not a quick fix, and it means removing the whole motorand then sending it off to a specialist engineering firm who will have the tools/machinery to disassemble the motor and replace the damaged bearings.”
Until we have a further update, the Trishaw rides will be suspended for a time.
