Are You Ready for High School Math? CLASS OF ‘28 June 3-7 AND June 10-14 9 - 11 a.m. OR 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. (this class is a 2-week commitment offered at both times)

If fractions frighten you, if decimals dumbfound you, if percents perplex you, this class is for you! This course will help you master concepts necessary for success in Algebra I. Some topics include computations with fractions, deci­mals, percents, applications of formulas, ratio and proportion, operations with signed numbers, one-step equations, word problems and an introduc­tion to the coordinate plane. This class is designed to help you overcome math anxieties and improve your prealgebra skills with emphasis given to the skills needed for the freshman summer math packet. Instructor: Mrs. Dennetta Podnar Fee (2-week course): $225/$250 after May 15

Choir Camp 2024-2024 GRADE LEVEL: 6 • 7 • 8 PLUS: CLASS OF ‘28 (incoming freshmen) June 3-7 | 1-3 p.m. Come have a great musical experience and bond with current CJA choir members! Students will spend the week honing their musical talents and working on a final performance for the last day of camp. Instructor: Mrs. Addie Akin Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

College Essay Writing CLASS OF ‘25 June 3-7 | 5:30-7:30 p.m. OR June 10-14 | 9-11 a.m. OR Are you worried about getting into the college of your dreams? Does the college essay requirement have you freaked out? If so, come to this two-week summer workshop, where all your fears will be relieved. You’ll leave with a polished, professional essay that will reflect your strengths and assets, allowing you to focus on completing applications and finishing up college visits. Small class sizes and intense, personalized conferencing will ensure your success with this angst-filled piece of writing. Let us help you start your senior year with less stress and more confidence! Instructor: Dr. Kim Cowan Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Freshman English Sampler CLASS OF ‘28 June 3-7 AND June 10-14 9 - 11 a.m. OR 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. (this class is a 2-week commitment offered at both times)

The purpose of this workshop is to offer incoming freshmen an introduction to English classes at Cor Jesu. Activities include acquiring reading strategies for successfully approaching various types of literature, gathering some useful grammar tips and practicing the kinds of composition and creative writing you will see as a freshman. During this class, we will also discuss the required freshman summer reading selection. Enjoy getting to know your classmates while learning and reviewing some valuable reading and writing skills. Basketball CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 May 28-31 4:30-7 p.m. at CJA’s gym Are you looking to hone your competitive basketball skills? This camp with Coach Mary Kaye Banks and CJA assistant coaches will develop skills needed to prepare you for the upcoming high school season. Facilitated by: CJA Coaching Staff - Mary Kaye Banks, Jen Cleary Steinway ‘08, Emily Erbs ‘17, JoEllen Sarich and past CJA players. Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Freshman Cross Country CLASS OF ‘28 June 10-14 6-7:30 p.m. at Cor Jesu (Monday); Various Parks (Tuesday-Friday) Enjoy a great introduction to the sport of running for those interested in cross country or for anyone looking to improve their aerobic condi­tioning over the summer. In case of extreme heat, the start time will be 7 p.m. Facilitated by: CJA Cross Country Coach Katie Mannhard Helbig ‘00, CJA Assistant Coach John Monda and CJA athletes. Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Freshman Field Hockey CLASS OF ‘28 June 3-7 5:30-7 p.m. on CJA’s Back Field If you are interested in playing field hockey in the fall or just want to meet some of your future classmates, this camp is for you. 6

No experi­ence in field hockey is necessary. The team, which has appeared in 16 Final Fours in 20 years, will give you a taste of what the CJA field hockey program is all about. Facilitated by: CJA Varsity Coach Audrey Lampe Ploesser ‘06, CJA assistant coaches and CJA players. Fee: $75/$100 after May 15

Freshman Field Hockey Preview Days CLASS OF ‘28 May 29 and July 24 6-7:30 p.m. on CJA’s Back Field Come try out the sport of field hockey either for the first time or get some training in before the fall season! Facilitated by: CJA Varsity Coach Audrey Lampe Ploesser ‘06, CJA assistant coaches and CJA players. FREE!

Golf CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 June 17-21 1-2:30 p.m. at Tower Tee (Monday meet in CJA’s Student Commons) You will learn the skills that have made CJA’s golf team successful. Grip, stance, swing and club selection are included in this instructional camp. The rules of the game and golf etiquette will be taught through fun drills and contests. You will need to bring at least one iron and one putter. Facilitated by: CJA Golf Coach Mark Tueth. Fee: $125/$150 after May 15


Lacrosse CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 June 17-21 8-10 a.m. on CJA’s Side Field Learn the ins and outs of this popular sport from one of the top programs in the St. Louis area. Coach Andrew Shipp and his staff will introduce the skills of throwing, catching, scooping and protecting the ball. For those looking to try something new, this lacrosse camp is for you! Please bring a mouth guard. Facilitated by: CJA Varsity Coach Andrew Shipp and CJA assistant coaches. Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Soccer High School Kick Arounds CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 June 12 | 6-8 p.m. July 17 | 8-10 a.m. July 24 | 8-10 a.m. on CJA’s Back Field Coach Rachel Brcic will introduce the incoming freshmen to the rich tradition of Cor Jesu soccer, while also preparing the program for an exciting 2024 season. Shooting, passing, game tactics and team play will be emphasized through drills and small-sided games. Facilitated by: CJA Varsity Soccer Coach Rachel Brcic ‘08 and CJA assistant coaches. FREE!

Stronger U Summer Training CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 6 weeks starting June 17 Mon-Thurs | 9 - 10:30 a.m. at CJA’s Gym Cor Jesu soccer coach Ellen Summers has more than 15 years of experience teaching and coaching strength and conditioning. This program is for any girl, middle school-aged or enrolled at Cor Jesu, who wants to build a “Stronger U.” All daily activities will encourage building endurance, strength, balance and flexibility to help shape more wellrounded athletes. This camp will look at three categories: strength, speed and agility. Emphasis will be placed on proper technique in all movements, geared toward developing stronger athletes through core lifts, auxiliary lifts, mobility training exercises and dynamic movements. Facilitated by: CJA Coach Ellen Summers Fee: $200 for 6 weeks/ $225 after May 15

Tennis CLASS OF ‘28 • ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 June 3-7 4-6 p.m. at Dwight Davis Tennis Center This camp will introduce the skills of this lifetime sport to beginners, as well as fine tune the skills of the competitive players who are interested in playing in high school. Grips, forearm and backhand strokes, lob shots, and serving will be taught through personal instruction, drills, and fun, competitive games. **Please bring racquet, water and towel. Facilitated by: CJA Coach Erin Haberkorn and Beatriz Juan Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Volleyball CLASS OF ‘28 July 15-19 8-10 a.m. at CJA’s Gym CLASS OF ‘27 • ‘26 • ‘25 July 15-19 12:30-2:30 p.m. at CJA’s Gym Prepare for fall tryouts with skill instruction and team play. Facilitated by: CJA Coach Tim Haffner and CJA coaching staff. Fee: $125/$150 after May 15

Online registration is available at corjesu.org/camps. Registrations received after May 15,2024, will be charged a $25 per camp late fee. Printable registration forms are also available for download from Cor Jesu’s website, or you can tear out the form in this brochure. When registering online, ALL campers will be asked to complete a media release form. ALL sports campers must also complete a medical and emergency release form. Each enrichment camp will have a minimum of six students, maximum of 25, unless otherwise noted. Early registration is recommended, as class sizes are limited. Parents will receive a confirmation letter or e-mail after May 15, 2024. In the event that a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, parents will be notified.
