My camera is my brush
More than 30 years in photography. I began my lifelong passion in 1989. I never planned to be a photographer but a trip around the world in 1989 created a spark.
I come from a creative family, my grandfather on my mothers side was a carpenter paying attention to detail like no other person, I have met. My grandfather on my fathers side was a traditional bookbinder who loved painting and sculpting and allthough my father chose a different line of work he always loved the art of drawing.
Through the years I have tried almost everything within photography - in Denmark and around Europe. Clients spanning from the new small biz that needed photos for their new website to global companies needing documentation for worldwide product launches.
The experiences from working in different lines of business and with so many people in so many places has given me a gift in life. I love the conversations with people, I love the process of getting the right idea for the job, finding the location, the light, the angle and working with it in postproduction.
Art is everywhere - even in the places you least expect to find it. Many years ago I was given the opportunity to capture art for a business and that kickstarted my creations. This has led to many more jobs and often the assignment is to correct spaces that needs energy and structure.
I want to bring you a perspective - make you feel- create a corridor to a creative universe that puzzels your mind- touch the creative part of you- make you feel positive, happy and curious - raise awareness and start a dialogue of how inspiring nature is and how essential it is for our survival in more ways than we know.
I believe in utopia and abundance and think that art should create curious and positive feelings in order for us to support the abundance in our lives - a circular movement.To truly change the way we care too little about nature my work reflects how I find inspiration and appreciate and thank nature for its positive effect on my art and my life

ME TAKING PICTURES OF ONE OF MY PAINTINGS
I like that I can change the lenses. This makes it possible to change the perspective, the distance, the framing of the subject/object and capture exactly what I want.
In other words, I decide 100% what I want to capture.
This is the freedom I have gained by investing in my equipment. In the same session I can capture the details of a caterpillar and secondly the surrounding colors and structures - and if I needed to capture more i.e. from 120 m above in the sky - I could capture that too.
I love that freedom.

I do also paint with real paint brushes on real canvases, when I want something very specific to start from.
My approach is different to that of a painter, as I use my paintings as the basis for my pieces. The painting is not a piece in itself.
I have worked with digital post-production for more than 25 years and my camera for more than 30 years so I know my tools pretty well. Painters have tryed to create exact colors with paint for hundreds of years.
I’m so facinated that I can create an exact color using my chosen tools.

NATURE + PHOTOS
Spending time with my camera in nature makes me relax. I love the sounds, the smells, the visual impressions, the temperature and most of all the air from the sea.
As a child I spent most of my summers in our familyboat. I love the seabreeze, the sounds and smells of the water and enjoy taking my family to the West Coast of Denmark on a windy afternoon in Fall.
The hunt for subjects - especially when it comes to animals or insects is all-consuming and fun and when I look for inspiration in the wild flora and fauna the process is enjoyable and I sometimes think the experiences here are prolonging my life.
I love the thought of bringing nature into our buildings and houses and in this way creating a connection to nature for us all the time.
Nature is under pressure and the more we appreciate it the more we pay attention to it the more we can and we will do to protect it and make sure that our children too can spend hours enjoying their world when they want to and need to.

The naturalistic still appeals to me eventhough the abstract is definately taking over. The mushrooms here fascinates me with their shapes, colors and their imperfect perfectionism.
