COMMITTEES MAKE THE CHAPTER

GET INVOLVED. BE INSPIRED. MAKE A DIFFERENCE. The New England Chapter of CoreNet Global runs on the energy of its volunteers. We rely on the efforts of our committees of volunteers and their tireless commitment to making our Chapter the go-to resource to connect, learn, grow, and belong in the New England corporate real estate community. We ask all interested members to consider where their talents, experience, and passion may best fit… and to get involved!

AWARDS

Typically, the Awards Committee brings the New England commercial real estate community together to celebrate the best of the industry at our annual Awards Gala. 2020, however, was a year like no other. In lieu of the live awards gala, the committee hosted a virtual event on January 20, 2021, to provide an opportunity for the community to connect with each other, look back on 2020, celebrate our successes, and look forward to 2021.

The event drew over 160 members who were able to connect in breakout rooms, and Chapter sponsors shared what 2020 meant to their organizations through videos.

Career Strategies + Development is your go-to resource for robust networking and learning through real-time engagement. CS+D programs offer guidance on how to successfully navigate and advocate for yourself throughout all points of your career – start to finish – including any detours and adventures along the way. We emphasize a shift in thinking away from “jobs and employment” or simply “transition” to a more deliberate focus on strategies to advance a career, no matter what stage you are in. Career Strategies + Development is about helping the New England Chapter members grow and develop both personally and professionally, while simultaneously building a rewarding support network of peers and partners.

COMMUNICATIONS

The Communications Committee helps spread the good word about our Chapter’s programs, goals, and members through regular newsletters, the Chapter website, and our social media channels. In 2020, the committee supported the CRAVE series by developing “key takeaway” posts to share with members in our LinkedIn Group, extending the conversation and helping reinforce the incredible content the Chapter offered throughout the year.

CoreNet New England's Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID) Committee is dedicated to raising awareness, providing education, and delivering programs to our members that promote and support equity, inclusion, and diversity in our community and within our Chapter. Our goals and objectives are to:

Align Promote Empower

Raise Awareness Create Educate

Identify, Attract, Retain

As CRE professionals, we influence design decisions around space, which can distinctly impact how and where people see themselves living and working in their space. We also manage access to space and are tasked with creating a "place" where people want to succeed and thrive. We represent a diverse, yet significant portion of jobs in America, which should be reflected in the workplace. We have the ability and power to influence decisions on the supply chain, where diversity spending is possible and we impact and support company culture through the spaces we deliver. We are excited to lead many engaging and necessary conversations in the CRE world and to grow our impact within CoreNet New England.

2020 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Meeting on a monthly basis, this group develops plans, programs, and opportunities to support Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity for CoreNet New England. Only recently assembled, the EID Committee hit the ground running by hosting an EID dinner with a strong panel to introduce the topic of EID and hosted three CRAVE educational programs through 2020. The team has also strengthened CoreNet's three-year relationship with CREST, a local, non-profit organization that provides meaningful summer internships to highly motivated and talented college students who have been historically underrepresented in our industry. Our Chapter is now an Ambassador partner offering subsidies to four corporate partners to participate in the CREST internship program this summer.

The primary goal of the Golf Committee is to plan, promote, and execute a successful annual golf tournament that allows for networking and enjoying each other’s company on the links. This year, however, that goal was paused in the wake of the pandemic. The committee has been working on a plan to return to the course in person in the fall of 2021 as we celebrate the 20th year of our annual tournament and charitable fundraiser.

The role of the Real Advantage Committee is to support the professional development of the New England Chapter’s corporate real estate community through exclusive, sponsoronly, qualifying program offerings. These invitationonly workshops and dinners, available to Corporate Partners and Founders Circle Sponsors, focus on timely topics relevant to enhancing corporate real estate professionals’ contributions to their companies and across the industry, as well as provide exclusive and unique opportunities for knowledge sharing via one-on-one networking and relationship development. The Workshops and Industry Leader Panel Discussions introduce new ideas, case studies, and impacts to the industry in an educational, thoughtful environment. YOUNG LEADERS

The mission of the Young Leaders Committee is to attract and retain future real estate leaders into the Chapter by creating programs designed to encourage young professionals to participate and become actively engaged in the corporate real estate industry. Our Committee is focused on ensuring that future corporate real estate young leaders have access to educational resources and networking opportunities with their peers, as well as senior professionals to support career development and growth.

2020 Achievements

While this past year was a trying one for all, our committee focused on staying connected and also giving back during the holiday season: • Collaborated with the New York Chapter’s Young Leaders Committee for a fun evening of virtual speed networking on December 1, 2020, to discuss ideas on how to keep networking virtually, and the technology tools that have made that possible. • Hosted an amazing co-ed event in collaboration with WWIRE (Wellness for

Women in Real Estate) on December 2, 2020, to raise donations for the

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. We had two trainers from Sweat Fixx run the holiday-themed virtual workout class, and together we raised over $500 for an amazing cause! Although COVID didn’t allow for our holiday party in person this year, our Committee still wanted to find a way to give back while still networking with our peers.
