A MESSAGE FROM MAUREEN RYSTROM, PRESIDENT APRIL 2023-2024 Hello Members, Sponsors and friends of CoreNet Global New England– I’m Maureen Rystrom, President of the CoreNet Global New England Chapter. We recently held our Annual Meeting in March and I’m still feeling the positive impact of being in a shared community with so many amazing professionals, celebrating what we do best. On behalf of the Executive Committee, Advisory Council and Board of Directors, I would like to take a moment to appreciate the resiliency and creativity of our chapter. By adding a fifth pillar of Giving Back to CoreNet Global’s values - Connect. Learn. Grow. Belong - we are focused on Doing Well by Doing Good. Over the past year, our chapter has supported 26 professional development program participants, has raised more than $24,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, remains a CREST partner at the Champion level in pairing students with paid jobs and skills training as well as facilitating 30 mentorship connections. Not to mention the addition of over 130 new young leaders and student members, and producing over 75 events, always looking through the lens of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Sustainability, and Innovation. With our incredible DE&I committee, we are excited to embark on a new partnership with the Builders of Color Coalition to offer membership opportunities connecting CoreNet with more than 600 of the BCC members in the Greater Boston area and providing a handful of BCC members with complimentary CoreNet memberships. We’ve also just rolled out a DE&I survey and will continue to gather data within the chapter and the corporate real estate industry that will help to inform our programming efforts and strategic initiatives in the upcoming fiscal year. Please be on the lookout for an email and be sure to complete that survey to help our chapter’s diversity.

With a brand new season, we get to start fresh in a new fiscal year, which means we welcome new leadership to our Board. So please join me in welcoming our new Directors on our chapter’s Board, joining the slate of leaders who will help guide our chapter in our strategic initiatives, attracting new members and corporate partners, increasing member engagement and supporting succession planning. Congratulations to Laurie Boehl with PES Associates, Sandra Gucciardi with C&W Services, Kristin Enright with Thermo Fisher Scientific, John Moran with Google and Ken Papetti with Iron Mountain. Recognizing this is also a season of change, it comes with heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing Board members - Mark Watkins, Brigitte Beltran, Kirstin Brown, and Rick Cleveland - for their leadership and passion for our chapter. We look forward to the next stage and future contributions to our great community.

We’re always looking for more volunteers to join our committees and support our events and initiatives. With a 50/50 split between Service Providers and End Users, there’s no shortage of quality networking opportunities. If you haven’t been able to join us in person for any of our recent events, we’re consistently offering hybrid programming with recordings available on-demand so you can enjoy the benefits of educational content and access to industry thought leaders on your time wherever you are. Speaking of great programs, the 2022-2023 Leadership 2.0 Program has come to a close after 6 months of honing their leadership and public speaking skills, insights and practical tools to lead their respective organizations and push their careers to the next level. [insert photo of Leadership 2.0 cohort from graduation] These 15 graduates concluded their program with final case study presentations under the topic of “Leading through Crisis or Transformation”, where each group highlighted a leader or group of leaders who led their organization through a time of major change. The companies that were selected by the cohort were Etsy, Disney & Patagonia, all of which responded to their time of transformation with the same DWBDG principles that we emphasize here in our chapter’s initiatives, including DE&I, sustainability, giving back, and integrity in our work as it contributes to a functional whole. Congratulations to the cohort and please look out for applications opening up for the next class in June 2023.

Another group of outstanding professionals from the Young Leader Professional Development program will be celebrated as they graduate at the upcoming Awards of Excellence on April 27th at the Westin Seaport in Boston. We’ve sold out our event sponsorships, and both tables and single tickets are now open through April 21st. Check the Awards of Excellence website for more details, to reserve your table and tickets and to see our award recipients for the 2022 leadership and project awards. I am so excited to announce that the recipient of the Doug Noonan’s President’s Award will be going to none other than the distinguished Cynthia Keliher. I, for one, cannot wait to see our amazing chapter gather together with more than 375 people in the same space to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and the people who make it all happen.

Looking ahead at the 2023-2024 fiscal year, we hope you will join us at some outstanding events and virtual programs:a Suppliers Diversity Awareness Webinar on May 4th, the Eastern Regional Symposium in Washington, DC from June 5-6th, the Annual Charitable Golf Tournament on October 5th will be held again this year at Pine Hills in Plymouth, MA and the CoreNet Global Summit NA is in Denver, CO from October 28-30th.

In the way that CoreNet Global New England connects you to both regional and global networks of like-minded peers, and provides you with a wealth of industry resources; I hope you continue to stay engaged and connected in the months ahead. Sustainable Chapter success is a result of good planning and strong leadership. For effective and transparent succession planning, the Chapter formalized a Board Development Program aligned with CoreNet Global’s bylaws and governance process that promotes a mentorship strategy and balanced Board representation between CREs and service providers.

DEVELOPING NEW LEADERSHIP The Chapter will continue to grow and succeed with a continual pipeline of new talent, leadership, and perspectives.

Members are encouraged to get involved in one or more committees to gain first-hand insight into how the Chapter operates and to contribute fresh ideas. The Chapter fields new Committee Chair leaders from its committee members, and these Committee Chair positions provide members with additional leadership opportunities and responsibilities.

Each year the Nomination Committee also solicits a “Call for Nominations” to join the Board of Directors. Members interested in joining the Board of Directors are encouraged to apply, with strongest consideration given to those who have served on at least one or more committees and, ideally, served in a Chair role.

The New England Chapter of CoreNet Global has done an excellent job of retaining talented Board members by elevating incumbent Directors, with sufficient term remaining, to Chapter Officers. This approach leverages individual experience and maintains Board consistency

and continuity. Officer positions are confirmed by the Board. The Board approves the Slate to be presented to the membership at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting. The membership votes to approve the proposed Slate by proxy vote, by electronic vote prior to the Annual Meeting, or at the Annual Meeting. To preserve Chapter thought leadership, ensure business continuity, and provide strategic insights where needed, the Advisory Council is comprised of past Presidents and any others who may be appointed by the President at her/his discretion to serve for a term of two years subject to extensions of such appointment.

Members of the Advisory Council must be a member of the Chapter in good standing and these are non-voting appointments. .

CS+D kept career growth conversations relevant for our community throughout 2021, by pivoting to a renewed focus on self-management, strategic goal-setting and purposeful wellbeing in the workplace. With the help of Wellbeing Expert, Psychologist Dr. Kibibi Springs, the committee designed a three-part series that began with a Growth Mindset Kickstarter workshop. The series continued through March of 2022, having moved through the topics of “Balance over Flow,” and finally concluding with an investigation of what we need to “Fuel our Professional Fire: Purpose, Strengths and Engagement.”

GOLF COMMITTEE

The main goal of the Golf Committee is to plan, promote, and execute a successful golf tournament with ample opportunity for networking and member entertainment. The committee also works in tandem with the Community Reinvestment Committee to support the designated charitable fundraising efforts of the Chapter. The Golf Committee celebrated a successful golf tournament on October 5, 2023 at Pinehills Golf Club.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The Membership Committee is responsible for maintaining and growing our New England Chapter’s membership and engagement. The core focus of the committee is to raise awareness to CoreNet members and potential members of all the benefits that CoreNet has to offer. The committee works closely with our Board of Directors and other Chapter committees to enlist their support in ensuring that membership engagement is integrated into all Chapter activities and efforts.

UNIVERSITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE

The University Relations Committee aims to increase awareness of the corporate real estate industry for students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Boston-area universities. The committee visits local universities to discuss the industry as a whole, career opportunities within the industry, and the varying career paths each committee member took to get to their current role. Additionally, the committee members actively encourage student participation in CoreNet, through mentorship and connections at local programming events, as well as the Global Summit and Eastern Regional Symposium events.

YOUNG LEADERS COMMITTEE

The mission of the Young Leaders Committee is to attract and retain future real estate leaders into the Chapter by creating programs designed to encourage young professionals to participate and become actively engaged in the corporate real estate industry.
