4WD:
It is possible to self-drive yourself via 4WD to the spectacular Jim Jim Falls. Turn east off the Kakadu Highway 43 km south of the Bowali Centre. Travel the next 60km in 4WD and allow two hours. The final 10km includes sandy areas. You need to walk 2km through monsoonal forest and over boulders to reach the deep plunge pool. Warning – Crocodiles can inhabit these waters so follow all signage.

Gunlom, in the southern part of Kakadu, is the idyllic combination of waterfall and serene plunge pool, with picnic areas shaded by native gums, with sweeping views of south Kakadu. Gaze across the tree tops as you take a cooling dip at the top of a waterfall. An experience as close to heaven as our beautiful land offers.
Monsoon season:
If experiencing Kakadu during January and February, many areas are not accessible on land due to being immersed under water, so opt for a scenic flight over the roaring waterfalls, at full flow during the height of the rainy season.

It had been quite some time since Jemma last had her hair cut and coloured. She'd been sporting the (in-)famous messy top-knot for pretty much every occasion because "it took too long to style". A common concern amongst many young women. Haircut It was important to keep a style that matched Jemma's lifestyle, and natural texture of hair. She has fine hair, plenty of it, and prone to "boofyness". With that in mind, we opted for a super blunt lob (long-bob), slightly asymmetrical (longer on one side), changing her existing centre part to a much softer side part. Colour To get the ball rolling for summer, we decided to go a couple shades lighter. With Jemma's skin tone, we needed to keep the hair cool and natural looking rather than any red or brassy tones. We lifted out the existing dark brown, and then applied a cool hazelnut/biscuit light brown, keeping a zig-zag section underneath of an ash blonde. We wanted the colour to not be too noticeable while Jemma's hair was in natural fall, and create a peek-a-boo type texture to an otherwise solid style. Styling With Jemma's new length, she agrees that she will make more attempt to style her hair differently. Be it curled, straight, messy, or sleek - she's got much more option now (and it will take a lot less time). Today we wanted to utilise Jemma's natural wave, using only Sebastian Professional 'Trilliant' for thermal protection, shimmer, and a light hold, and a blow dryer & flat brush. Finishing with a little de-frizz polish 'liquid gloss', Jemma says her hair "looks great and feels amazing!!" Makeup For Jemma’s make up we wanted to bring out her hazel/green eyes so we created a soft lilac base with a darker navy blue accent in the outside corners of her eyes.Nothing bright just soft tones. We framed that with generous coats of mascara and soft blended eyeliner. For the foundation we used Airbrush make up to give her a flawless finish adding some highlighter on top her cheeks to accentuate her cheek bones.Lips where a Blushing Nude shade with a gloss over the top. Keeping her lips natural. We wanted her to try something new in tones that would match her new fabulous colour!

Wax Management I often get asked how one should manage the wax in their ears and what the purpose of it is. Our grandparents actually got it right when they said “nothing smaller than your elbow in your ears”. Although an overproduction of wax can be detrimental the constant removal or absence of it can cause much bigger problems. Ear wax or cerumen has several purposes, firstly the oils in it have natural antifungal and antibacterial properties which can prevent the onset as well as the sustenance of ear infections within the ear canal. Further contributing to this is the role it plays in keeping the ear canal at a certain pH level as its acidity is unfavourable for many micro-organisms. Another major role it plays is to trap any foreign objects which enter the ear from progressing down into the ear canal through its sticky consistency.
This also applies to small insects such as bugs, cockroaches, flies and beetles which can crawl or fly into the ear.

Further contributing to this is the actual smell of the wax which acts as a deterrent to prevent insects from actually wanting to crawl into these orifices whilst we are sleeping.
The best way to remove wax is for it to wait until it progresses out of the ear canal into the opening of the ear and then wiping it out with a tissue. If there is excessive wax in the ear canal which has to be removed because it is hampering hearing or hearing aid use, then there are several options for removal. You can try wax softener which may soften it enough for it to work its own way out, however more often than not it does not remove it. If this does not work you can consult your GP who may remove it via suction or syringing while the wax is soft. Alternatively you can consult Audiologists who have done specialist wax removal training and they can remove it straight away.
Attempts to remove ear wax can also lead to problems. I have attended to several people who permanently lost the hearing in an ear because they were bumped whilst cleaning an ear with a bobby-pin, toothpick or cotton wool bud. These items can perforate the ear drum and rupture the inner ear causing permanent deafness and balance problems. Furthermore using cotton wool buds to clean the ear usually just pushes the wax further into the ear canal and impacts the wax into a hard ball which
