Curriculum
2 Years | 34 Credits | Hybrid Enhance your pedagogical knowledge and skills to develop innovative curricula and learning activities through in-depth, relevant courses. Summer courses are held on the Concordia campus in Moorhead, Minnesota. Two required core courses will be offered, MUS 611: History and Philosophy of Music Education and MUS 613: Ethno-musicology. Elective courses may also be offered during the summer. Concordia offers affordable, on-campus housing for our grad students. Students will have the opportunity to build supportive relationships with their cohort and faculty during the summer. 4 | Curriculum
Admission and Application The program operates on a rolling admission basis each year; review of applications will begin in October and continue through May or until the cohort is filled. Admission Requirements • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution's music program, earning either a B.A., B.M., or B.S. in music education (or alternative licensure) or other music specialization • A minimum of one year of music teaching experience • Completed at least one year (at the beginning of coursework) of music teaching in a public or private school setting
• A current resume • Three evaluations from individuals not related to you, with strong knowledge of your professional character including observation of teaching skills, your ability to succeed in a graduate program, and achievements and/or professional experiences • Official transcripts from all postsecondary, regionally accredited institutions attended
• A 20-minute teaching video
Application Applications are accepted through the centralized application system GradCAS. Applicants create an account to complete general information, assign evaluators, upload documents, and provide a teaching video link.
International Students International transcripts must be sent to an approved credential evaluation agency for review. English proficiency must be demonstrated by test scores from IELTS (minimum of 6.5) or TOEFL (minimum of 80).

Graduate Elective Courses Non-degree seeking students are welcome to take individual graduate level courses from the Master of Music program. Review courses and complete a short general admission form to get started. Students may apply to the full program anytime and transfer elective credits.
Financial Information Per Credit Cost | $560 Technology & Support Fee | $35 Per Credit
(A per credit fee will be incurred for technology, library, and support from campus offices.)
Total Per Credit Cost | $595 A $300 deposit is required to hold a seat in the program. The deposit will be applied to the first tuition payment. Room and board details and cost will be available to incoming students prior to the summer start. To apply for all forms of federal financial aid you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid online. The FAFSA can be completed any time after Oct. 1 for the following academic year. Students will also need to complete a FAFSA for the current academic year to receive aid for the first summer session.

Faculty Concordia's music department, the largest on campus, has an excellent reputation and proven track record in preparing students for careers in music education. Our music faculty members inspire their students and encourage both personal and professional growth through an individualized approach.
