Spain has one of the most extensive presences of any foreign country in Coral Gables. Its consulate, education office, tourist office, cultural center and trade commission all co-located in a mid-rise at the intersection of LeJeune Road and Valencia Avenue. Due to the cultural affinity between Coral Gables and Spain (two of the Gables’ sister cities, Sevilla and Granada, are located in Spain), Spanish companies comprise more than one third of all multinational firms with offices in the city.
Spain’s consular and trade officials oversee activities across all of Florida, as well as those in Georgia and South Carolina. Its mission is not only to help Spanish citizens here, but to foster bilateral trade and investment, along with educational projects and cultural exchanges. Last year they assisted in the establishment of offices for the University of Salamanca in the Gables. Imports from Spain far outnumber exports, including more than a half-billon dollars in medical products annually.

Italy is the fourth largest trading partner at the PortMiami, with more than half a billion dollars in imports and exports for the first six months of 2020. They do another half billion in trade through Miami International Airport. Their consular office is located in the Collection building on Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Bird Road.
The top imports from Italy include medicines, passenger vehicles, wine, and designer goods such as handbags, jewelry, wallets and leather shoes. In Coral Gables, Italian companies include retail fashion outlets such as Italian Eyewear on Aragon Avenue and Artigiano on Laguna Street, where clients can have their tailored suits and shoes manufactured in Italy and shipped here. Much of the high-end kitchen and bathroom cabinetry used in Gables homes comes from Italy, via such shops as Snaidero and Scavolini, both on Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Italian food is the number one restaurant category in the city.

Peru maintains its consulate for Florida in Coral Gables, on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, across Salamanca Avenue from Tinta y Cafe. It not only serves the interests of Peruvian citizens in Florida, but also acts as the connecting point for information about the Peruvian economy and trade opportunities.
Peru is the sixth largest trading partner at the PortMiami and the ninth largest trading partner at Miami International Airport, with more than a billion dollars in goods moved between the U.S. and Peru through South Florida in the first six months of 2020. The PortMiami and MIA represent two of the three largest entry/exit points for Peruvian goods (Houston is the other).
Principle imports from Peru include agricultural goods, gold, clothing and tin; exports to Peru include fuels, plastics, computers, and cellphones. Coral Gables is also a culinary outpost for Peru, with exceptional and authentic Peruvian cuisine.
