WORLD CLASS
One of the take-aways you have when first visiting Coral Gables is the sense that you’re in the midst of a great global city—one akin to New York, Boston, or Chicago, just fantastically less dense, crowded and tough to navigate or inhabit. What it has, however, is the same potent energy and resources: large beautiful office buildings, a strong core business district, a collection of domestic as well as international financial institutions, world class healthcare, top-rated educational institutions, a plethora of multinational companies, major law and accounting firms, a sea of restaurants, major hotels--including the most iconic in the state of Florida, The Biltmore. And homes. The Gables has the best collection of high-end single-family homes as well as sophisticated condominiums; even the rental apartments portray upscale living. Incorporate all of that into the most unique architectural design elements in the state thanks to the legacy of founder, George Merrick.
So why does it work so well? According to Rosabeth Moss Kanter, noted Harvard Business Professor and well-known author of the book World Class, a global city should incorporate: concepts, competence and connections, and that these are the greatest assets to any business. Coral Gables meets the criteria for each asset: concept-due to a thriving entrepreneurial environment, competence-due to a strong educational system that encourages business excellence; connections- having the most dynamic domestic and international trade and travel connections in the hemisphere thanks to the unique proximity of Miami International Airport and PortMiami, the two most important economic generators for Florida.
The City Beautiful Magazine and Guide to Doing Business in Coral Gables you are holding was created by a unique public/private partnership between the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the City of Coral Gables Economic Development Department and Coral Gables Magazine. In collaboration we have produced the definitive document to guide you through the Gables, introducing you to the important City departments you might need to work with, to the corporations that thrive here along with their top executives, to the best places to locate your business, to the best schools, and to the very people and institutions who can help make your business thrive and succeed. This is your GPS. Use it wisely.
Sincerely,
Richard Roffman CEO & Publisher Coral Gables Magazine
