Mu Arae was written for Alice Teyssier, Nuiko Wadden, David Friend, and Mazz Swift. I am incredibly honored to have had them premiere this piece, to have experienced their unwaning talents, and to have met them and know them as marvelous people. I am also deeply thankful to Caroline Mallonee, Seth Brenzel, Marcos Balter, and every other contributor to The Walden School's 2021 Retreat for creating such a positive example of musical comradery in a world that yearns for it.
PROGRAM NOTE:
Mu Arae is a Sunlike yellow-orange star located 50 light-years away from Earth, within the constellation Ara. The star has a planetary system with four known extrasolar planets, named Quijote, Dulcinea, Rocinante, and Sancho.
