LAXAROOS (Co-Ed 4-5 Years) This is the perfect introductory class for the new player that wants to learn the fundamentals of scooping, cradling, shooting, and stick work. Classes are fun and fast paced with small sided games to challenge your Lil’ Laxaroo.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT (Boys & Girls 6-12 Years) For players looking to improve stick work and technical skills through repetition and game scenarios such as 2v1, 3v2, and 4v4.

WHAT TYPE OF PLAYERS ARE COPPERMINE PLAYERS?

Coppermine Players train weekly throughout the year and show a strong passion for lacrosse. Our current players are hardworking and want the challenge to compete against the top teams in the highest divisions.

We develop players who are looking for a better, more intense experience to play lacrosse through a program that is led by a professional and experienced coaching staff. We develop technical skills and tactics throughout the year, and are looking for players that want to take their talents to the next level.

WHAT TYPE OF COMMITMENT IS THIS FOR MY FAMILY? • Fall (Sept-Nov): 6-8 weekend practices, 2-4 tournaments.

• Winter (Jan-March): 4-6 Indoor practices 1x/week for all teams, indoor league games on Sundays, sports performance training and speed & agility clinics.

• Spring/Summer (April-July): Outdoor Spring League, 20-35 practices & 3-5 tournaments (based on age).

AT WHAT LEVEL DOES COPPERMINE LACROSSE CLUB COMPETE IN? Our 2028-2023 Teams will participate in the A Division for the National Girls Lacrosse League (NGLL), as well as the top levels in tournaments throughout our region.

At the high school level, Coppermine Lacrosse Club participates in nationally exposed recruiting tournaments where DI, DII and DIII coaches are present.

WHAT TYPE OF COACHING DOES COPPERMINE OFFER?

Coppermine takes pride in our coaching staff who have various levels of lacrosse experience from collegiate to professional. Coppermine also works closely with Johns Hopkins & local collegiate players, specializing in specific skills based on what Coppermine lacrosse players need. These coaching specialists support all age levels at our Coppermine practices throughout the year.

WHAT IS LIL’ KICKERS?

Each child explores their senses and stimulates their imagination with this nationally renowned curriculum based Lil’ Kickers Program.

These child development soccer classes are centered around fun, promoting self-confidence and learning the world’s most popular sport.

BUNNIES (18-24 Months, Parent/Child Class) Together, toddlers and parents explore basic soccer and fundamental skills through the use of sensory tools. Classes include parachute activities, bubbles, lots of fun games, and the cone towers!

HOPPERS (3-4 Years) Three and four year-olds get a fast-paced, fun exposure to the most popular sport in the world. Classes focus on foot-eye coordination, dribbling, scoring and balance.

THUMPERS (25-35 Months, Parent/Child Class) Parents and kids play organized games together to develop listening skills, balance, ball skills, and foot-eye coordination. This class helps children transition into our Cottontails class.

JACKRABBITS (4-5 Years, Intermediates) Designed to help transition children into non-competitive play while developing fundamental soccer skills as they are introduced to drill oriented games and scrimmages. Must have Hoppers or similar program experience prior to entering this class.

COPPERKICKS FUTSAL CLINICS

Futsal is a modified form of soccer and is the fastest growing indoor sport in the country. Futsal promotes quality touches, faster decision-making and is played indoors with NO walls. A smaller soccer ball is used (Futsal balls have less bounce than a normal soccer ball).

Futsal players have more contact with the ball and must play more creatively. Not only is Futsal a fun alternative to soccer, it is great for building skills and perfecting plays.

PLAY GYM (10-16 Months & Parent) Tumbling on the giant trampoline plus guided activities with songs, props, bouncing, rolling, crawling expeditions and free play, allow the little one to grow and develop along the way. One parent/care giver per child is required in this class.

TINY TUMBLERS (16-36 Months & Parent) Children develop balance, flexibility and listening skills through the introduction of simple directions, use of obstacle courses, and time on the trampoline and swing. One parent/care giver per child is required in this class.

TUMBLE TOTS (3-4½ Years) This movement education class is an independent class that focuses on building confidence and listening skills and provides a fun, safe and challenging environment for our tiny gymnasts. Fitness and motor skills are developed through the use of obstacle courses, games and gymnastics stations.

GYM KIDS (4½-5½ Years) This movement education class continues to strengthen skills introduced in the Tumble Tots class while introducing new challenges.

Obstacle courses, gymnastics stations and the use of gymnastics apparatus, are used to create a safe and fun learning environment. We recommend this class for 4 year olds who have already mastered the Tumble Tots curriculum.

HOT SHOTS (5-6 Years, See Page 30-31, Invitation Only) Hot Shots is an invite only class for gymnasts exhibiting exceptional form, flexibility & strength. FUTURE STARS (Co-Ed 6-7 Years) Future Stars is a gymnastics class for the child interested and physically ready for a more progressive gymnastics course. This program transitions participants to the big gymnastics equipment, as well as introducing and focusing on the basic skills needed to progress to harder skills.

ASTEROIDS (Boys & Girls 8-12 Years, Beginner) This introductory class will focus on the fundamental techniques and skills needed for vault, bars, beam (girls), floor and trampoline.

Boys will be introduced to the parallel bars, pommel horse and still rings. Skills covered include rolls, handstands, cartwheels, kickovers and pullovers.

COMETS (Boys & Girls 8-12 Years, Intermediate) Comets is an intermediate level class that will continue to build upon fundamental skills, flexibility and strength. New challenges are provided through stations, drills and sequences. Back walkovers, back handsprings, back hip circles and transitions to high bar are some of the skills covered. Skill evaluation is required for this class.

TUMBLING I (6+ Years, Introductory) An introductory tumbling course for those still learning or trying to master rolls, cartwheels, handstands, back bends, kickovers and round offs.

TUMBLING II (8+ Years, Intermediate, Instructor Approval Required) An intermediate to advanced tumbling class for those who have already mastered their basics as well as round offs, front walkovers and back walkovers. This class will focus on progressions to learning back handsprings, front handsprings, running tumbling and tucks.

TEEN GYMNASTICS (13-17 Years) Teen Gymnastics incorporates trampoline, floor, bars, beam and vault for each participant’s skill level. Strength, flexibility and balance are reinforced to challenge gymnasts as they progress through skills.

We are dedicated to using gymnastics to bring out the best in our gymnasts by using positive coaching techniques that promote sportsmanship and teamwork, while being safe, having fun and working hard. WHAT TYPE OF COACHING DOES COPPERMINE OFFER?

Coppermine Gymnastics coaches are USAG Professional coaches with various levels of experience through Junior Olympics competitive gymnastics to collegiate gymnastics. Our coaching staff is knowledgeable and well versed in body mechanics, nutrition, strength and conditioning, which helps to provide the safest and best training methods for our gymnasts.

COMMITMENT FOR MY FAMILY?

Coppermine Gymnastics Club is an annual gymnastics program. Our competitive season will start as early as November and culminate with the Maryland State Championships in May. Summer training is highly encouraged and recommended for development to move to the next level.

CLASSES CREATIVE MOVEMENT (2.5 - 3 Years) Our youngest dancers explore movement with fun props and ageappropriate music. This class lays the foundation so students can progress to our First Dance and Gymnastics & Dance classes.

FIRST DANCE: BALLET & TAP COMBO (3-6 Years) A continuation of Creative Movement, dancers learn foundational skills and terminology for Ballet and Tap. Gross, fine, and cognitive skills develop through structured, creative activities.

GYMNASTICS AND DANCE (3-6 Years) A continuation of Creative Movement, dancers explore the foundation of classical Ballet and the beginnings of dance-specific acrobatic skills. These skills include: mat, strength, flexibility, development and obstacle courses.

BALLET, TAP & JAZZ COMBO (6-7 Years) For our dancers who want a little more, this dynamic class explores the necessary building blocks of Ballet, Tap and Jazz. These classes include dance terminology while learning fun and creative ways to execute technical movement.

BALLET & JAZZ COMBO (6-7 Years) This fun combination class engages our dancers in a captivating atmosphere while learning technical dance in both Ballet and Jazz techniques.

BALLET & MODERN COMBO (8+ Years) Dancers develop skills involving stretching, barre work and strengthening exercises with an emphasis on balance and proper body alignment. Body awareness, coordination and center work focus on correct classical ballet positions and terminology. Modern dance gives dancers the opportunity to explore contemporary dance through expressive movement. This portion of class includes a modern dance warm up, moving across the floor and center work. Students also explore improvisational exercises.

JAZZ (8+ Years) This class develops classical Jazz technique with age-appropriate popular music. Emphasis is on energy, rhythmical accuracy and style. Dancers learn and utilize Jazz dance terminology with correct body alignment and placement.

HIP HOP (4-11+ Years) Students are introduced to the vocabulary and style of Hip Hop movement.

No dance experience is required for this high energy class. Hip Hop is about personal style and expression for anyone with a passion to move.

Players develop racquet and motor skills while creating a passion for the game. Beginner students will learn techniques such as racquet grip, swing, preparation and developing hand eye coordination while learning basic shot differentiation.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Players will begin to understand game plans, strategic play and develop their mental aspects of the game. Players will demonstrate court awareness through coverage and agility, with an emphasis on match winning shots. Players’ skills will be fine-tuned through drills, strength training and court movement. They will learn the technical aspects of the game such as scoring, match play and fitness.

For our newest tennis friends who want to learn tennis fundamentals, improve hand-eye coordination, exercise fine motor skills, body control, spatial awareness, and movements that will help them develop into tennis players.

Players will learn basic strokes and improve their playing skills, strategy and scoring. This class focuses on skills and match play development such as knowing when to play offensive shots, defensive shots, and neutralizing shots. This is the perfect clinic designed to improve efficiency in all aspects of the game.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT TENNIS CLINIC

THE TENNIS INSTITUTE

Learn the fundamentals of stroke production using the correct grips and footwork. Each clinic focuses on forehand, backhand, serve and volley in various drills and fun games while retaining an understanding of tactical court positioning.

INTERMEDIATE TENNIS CLINIC

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned competitor, Coppermine tennis clinics are taught by USPTA/USPTR professionals who provide drills and daily themes that focus on different areas of the game, including volleys, serves, ground strokes, conditioning and footwork.
