As part of Copper’s commitment to providing year-round training opportunities for athletes of all ages and ability levels, the resort welcomes alpine ski racers to the slopes for spring training in May and June. Copper’s north facing slope and high elevation provide for excellent snow preservation during the late spring months. Before the heat of summer moves in, athletes from the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team, including Mikaela Shiffrin, take to the hill for late season training. Young athletes from local and national club teams will also visit Copper to train alongside the best in the business, logging crucial late season hours on the hill, providing extra development and repetition opportunities on Giant Slalom and Slalom courses.
THE MOUNTAIN G.O.A.T COMES TO COPPER
Mikaela Shiffrin has proven herself to be the most successful alpine skier in history after collecting her 88th World Cup victory this season, dethroning legendary Swedish skier Ingemar Stenmark for the most overall World Cup wins. The Greatest of All Time is no stranger to dawn training laps at Copper, visiting the slopes in both the spring and fall for early season preparation ahead of her marathon circuit of competitive pursuits throughout the winter season.
