TERRAIN THAT TRAINS Copper is a mountain made for athletes. It is the premier training ground for those who are up to the challenge of elevating their skills. With over 2,500 acres of naturally divided terrain, every athlete can challenge themselves at any level, from first time shredders to elite level performers. At Copper, the natural layout of the mountain is perfect for all who come to conquer. From west to east, the terrain’s difficulty escalates with long-winding groomers transforming into steep slopes. Wide open bowls, powder pockets, chutes, and heartdropping cliff bands await on the backside of the mountain. Copper relies on the mountain to help push progression for all its athletes. The recent addition of the Three Bears chairlift on Tucker Mountain expanded access to some of the best expert skiing and riding in Colorado. Copper has also made a commitment to increase opportunity for growth with an investment in the Western Territory. Beginners and families can focus on progression on newly expanded novice trails, gladed runs and varying terrain features for beginners and families to focus on technique and development. Lift upgrades are expected to round out the improvements on the western side of the mountain.

The Name: The Aerie replaces the existing Solitude Station mid-mountain lodge, located at the top of the American Eagle lift. An aerie can be defined as a large nest of a bird of prey - especially an eagle - typically built high in a tree or on a cliff. With the lodge sitting atop the American Eagle lift, Copper believes this name reverberates the dominate energy of the resort's future. Dining Elevated: The Aerie elevates the dining experience at Copper. The first of its kind at the mountain, “Forage and Feast,” the upstairs restaurant, offers Colorado cuisine with specialty items including grilled elk skewers, bison ribeye steak, buffalo burgers, foraged mushroom hash, and more. Downstairs in the food hall, a wide selection of options are available for skiers and riders looking for reprieve or a midday pick me up. The upgraded food hall includes a grill, ramen bar and NOLA Cajun station featuring gumbo and etouffee. Street tacos, wood fired pizza, a deli station, and heartier and plant-based items are also available for hungry visitors. In addition to a downstairs bar, the new space includes a hot chocolate bar for the young ones or the young at heart craving a chocolaty treat. Built for Future Generations: Copper’s commitment to supporting its environment through its Play Forever corporate commitment lives on in the design and construction of the Aerie. Copper made it a priority to incorporate sustainable and energy efficient materials in the Aerie. The building is constructed of natural, locally sourced materials. LED lighting has been installed throughout and utilizes’ occupancy /vacancy censors to improve efficiency 2% more than code requirements. High performance condensing boilers have also been included to improve heat energy consumption. The most visible sustainability feature included in the new building is solar panels installed on the roof, supplying 66 kW of electricity to the grid, which will offset a sizable portion of the energy used for the building
A WINTER OF UPGRADES Copper is making its largest single year investment in over a decade for the 2023-24 season. Snowmaking and Grooming Improvements: High quality, early season snow is essential to maintaining a solid snow surface all season long. Over the summer, Copper’s Mountain Operations teams worked hard upgrading and implementing new snowmaking infrastructure in several locations, prioritizing improvements on the west side of the mountain for beginners and in the Central Park terrain park for committed freestyle athletes. New automated tower snow guns have been installed in Central Park, and 27 new snowmaking hydrants have been added to the Soliloquy trail. These improvements will allow the resort to open terrain in the Western Territory earlier in the season. In addition, five new snowcats have been added to the resort’s fleet, allowing the mountain to enhance grooming capabilities. Trail Upgrades: Copper is adding two additional trails to the Western Territory, increasing beginner skier and rider progression on varying terrain. These additions will give Copper a total of 157 trails and increase the resort’s acreage to 2,538 acres. Copper has also made improvements to popular traverses on the mountain. Access to the Lower Enchanted Forest from the base traverse located near Storm King lift has been improved for safer and more direct access to the terrain. Likewise, the traverse from the top terminal of the American Flyer lift to the top of the Timberline Express chair has been improved so skiers and riders can directly access Soliloquy and adjoining trails. Employee Childcare Facility: A new childcare facility is expected to open by January 2024 for community members and employees to utilize. The facility will serve a critical need in the community, providing more than 45 childcare spots for those who live and work within Copper Mountain Resort. The facility will offer designated areas for infants, toddlers and preschool aged children. In addition to an 1,800 sq ft outdoor area, the center will include a full-service kitchen offering breakfast and lunch for children, washer and dryer, a state-of-the-art security system and check-in station. Parking and Transportation: To allow for smoother traffic flow in and out of the resort, Copper is expanding its Far East lot. The expansion adds 900 spots to the existing lot. The resort will also introduce two new COBUS’s, increasing the frequency and the quality of transportation between free parking lots. Copper’s Alpine and Far East lots will remain free to day skier parking this season.

THE ENVIRONMENT PepsiCo’s CIRQU Powered by Replenysh: Copper launched PepsiCo’s CIRQU Powered by Replenysh during the 2022-23 season. CIRQU allows Copper to circulate aluminum and plastic through closed loop recycling and allows the resort’s partners at Pepsi to integrate the material back into their supply chain. The program is helping to eliminate downcycling and works in tandem with Copper’s integration of Ball Aluminum Cups into resort dining outlets. Bins for the program have been added in lift lines and dining outlets, primarily in Center Village. Since it began, the program has recycled over 2 tons of aluminum and plastic. Copper has plans to integrate CIRQU resort wide in the coming seasons. Soil Sequestration Study: After launching the resort’s Native Seed Collection program in 2018 to gather and distribute seeds on the disturbed areas of the mountain, Copper Mountain has taken steps to increase its understanding of impacts on the environment through a Soil Sequestration Study. Now in year 2 of a 10-year study, Copper is working alongside students and a soil scientist from Southwestern University to calculate the amount of carbon that is stored in the ski slopes. The study will help transform the mountain’s biodiversity which contributes to the overall health of the local ecosystem
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY Play Forever Community Giving: After four years of successfully donating nearly $500,000 to the community through Play Forever Giving programs, Copper Mountain is excited for another season of giving with the return of Play Forever Thursdays. Guests that purchase a $99 discounted lift ticket online and in advance for a select Thursday between January and March will have a portion of proceeds benefit a partner organization. Last year’s Play Forever Thursdays program was the most successful yet, with over $150,000 donated to program partners. Lake County Community Fund: Copper Mountain and the Lake County Community Fund (LCCF) are renewing a four-year $400,000 endowment campaign, which originally launched in 2019. Starting in 2024, the resort will provide a challenge gift that will match up to $200,000, to support residents of the Lake County community. A portion of the gift will support the Lake County Community Fund endowment. $100,000 will also be allocated to support youth-oriented nonprofit organizations dedicated to outdoor adventure education and lifelong alpine sports development, as well as environmental causes, through the Community Fund’s grantmaking program. Lake County is an integral part of the regional Colorado community. More than 200 of Copper’s winter seasonal staff call Lake County home.
VER CONVERSATIONS AND SUCCESS IN CONSERVATION Copper Conservation Summit: In July 2023, Copper Mountain hosted its third annual Ski Conservation Summit, inviting local resorts from across Colorado, land managers, and conservation industry organizations to discuss and educate one another on individual sustainability initiatives. Copper was joined by representatives from Keystone/Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Eldora, Sunlight, Echo Mountain, CSCUSA and more to participate in the Summit. This was an incredible opportunity to observe and celebrate the commitment and unification of the ski industry to combat climate change and Copper Mountain looks forward to hosting more opportunities to collaborate in the future. Hero of Sustainability: Jeff Grasser, Copper’s Senior Resort Operations and Sustainability Manager, has been named this year’s Hero of Sustainability at the 2023 NSAA Golden Eagle Awards. Jeff is the life blood of Copper’s Play Forever sustainability initiatives and has revolutionized green practices. During his time at the resort, he has created a native seed collection program to help restore vegetation on our mountain. He has also enacted a 10-year carbon sequestration study to analyze the health of our slopes and is currently leading the charge on Copper’s closed loop recycling initiative, PepsiCo CIRQU powered by Replenysh.

LIVE AT THE MOUNTAIN Copper Mountain offers the best opportunity for employees to work and play where they live. The latest addition to Copper’s employee housing is Sky Chutes Landing, Copper’s sustainable workforce housing development which originally broke ground in 2019. Sky Chutes offers a mix of modern studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments complete with comfortable furnishings, extra gear storage and community amenities, located within walking distance of the slopes. The development provides affordable, convenient and sustainable housing for 130 employees. Sky Chutes Landing houses many year-round and full-time employees. It joins the EDGE, the resort’s dorm-style employee housing facility located in the heart of Center Village. The EDGE primarily houses Copper’s seasonal workforce, offering unrivaled access and the opportunity to experience the mountain. SPEARHEADING PROGRESSION AND ELITE LEVEL GROWTH
Copper Mountain is the Athlete’s Mountain and prioritizes year-round progression for all ages and ability levels in any discipline. The resort has a storied history of supporting amateur freeski and snowboard athletes through events like USASA Nationals and the U.S. Revolution Tour. Every spring and fall, athletes from across the globe travel to Copper for early and late season alpine race training on the upper part of the mountain. Copper has also supported Special Olympics athletes by providing seasonal training and hosting the Special Olympics Winter Games for decades. Copper is home to world-renowned training facilities and competition venues that will be utilized for generations to come. In 2022, Copper was named the Official Training Center for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard team. Copper is the first and only resort in Colorado with this distinction. As part of the partnership, athletes from the team have access to alpine training on the Stifel U.S. Speed Center and freestyle athletes utilize the Woodward Mountain Park and Woodward Barn. U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes will continue to use Copper’s training tools and venues to progress through the next 4-year cycle in preparation for the Milano Cortina Olympic Games in 2026.

WOODWARD MOUNTAIN PARK A network of terrain zones, the Woodward Mountain Park caters to beginner shredders mastering turns, to the most seasoned pros sending elite skills off monster jumps. Featuring more than 10 different parks, the Woodward Mountain Park is designed to help skiers and riders grow their tricks and their confidence on the mountain. Innovative features allow shredders to choose their own path. From mastering skills on the banked turns of the Family Cross Course to dialing rail slides in Red’s Backyard. The Woodward Mountain Park prioritizes progression and welcomes any athlete; no experience required.
WOODWARD BARN A 19,400 sq ft playground, the Woodward Barn is a central hub for actions sports enthusiasts. Featuring multiple skate, scooter and BMX zones, five Olympicgrade flybed trampolines, a 12’X12’ Super trampoline and foam pits, the Barn provides unlimited training tools for skill sending and safe learning. The Barn also has ParkSkis™ and ParkBoards™ to practice launching tricks into foam on wheeled skis and snowboards before taking them to the snow. The Barn offers a comfortable environment for year-round training and technical development, and even caters to parents and future shredders at the Tots & Tumble session.

Copper offers private lessons that provide a more individualized experience on the mountain. From more traditional one-on-one learning opportunities with trained Copper Ski & Ride School staff, to exploring new terrain on the mountain with a local guide. Private lessons are available for guests and families to tailor their learning experience or to familiarize themselves with Copper’s unique terrain.
Book a group lesson experience for as low as $189 for a half-day adult group lesson on the mountain. Group sizes are limited and are available for everyone from first-time skiers and riders to more experienced mountaingoers. Half-day and full-day lesson options are available to book, and full-day youth group lessons for kids ages 3-17 are also available.
Youth programs are back at Copper! Kids ages 3-17 can participate in multiweek ski and ride programs. Designed to build a basic skillset, youth programs will help push for weekly progression in children of all ages and ability levels. Youth programs are also offered for kids looking to perfect their freestyle skills in Copper’s Woodward Mountain Park.
Copper offers a number of seasonal programs for adults including the Over The Hill Gang and Women’s Wednesdays. Since the early days of the resort, the Over The Hill Gang has been an active group for folks 50 years and older dedicated to a passion for and shared love of skiing. The group meets up to 46 days throughout the season for group skiing and riding. Likewise, Women’s Wednesdays meets weekly for a lady’s day out, encouraging improved ski technique and camaraderie.

Copper has the most expansive uphill terrain access in Summit County, offering two twilight (before/after hour routes) and six daytime routes. Uphillers have access to over 11.5 miles of uphill terrain within the resort boundary, totaling a whopping 10,000 ft of vertical. Uphill access is free to Copper season pass and IKON pass holders. Non-pass holders can pick up an uphill access pass for $79.
Learn the ins and outs of backcountry skiing and riding with a Private Uphill Tour. A perfect adventure for the fitness-minded guests looking for an active experience, uphill tours include a full day of introduction to uphill touring. Guests are fitted into appropriate gear and then taken on the mountain alongside a certified instructor, who will provide tips and techniques as participants ascend and transition to descend.

MAMMUT UPHILL RACE SERIES
Located in Copper’s Center Village, the Mammut Education Center offers a place for outdoor gearheads to test Mammut’s latest products and learn more about backcountry and mountain safety. The Mammut Education Center prioritizes educational opportunities for interested guests and is an essential stop for all uphill participants visiting the resort.
Back for another year, the Mammut Uphill Race Series will test the lungs of any touring devotee. Amateur racers to skimo professionals will take on four different climbing challenges throughout the season, navigating different terrain routes throughout Copper. The uphill series is sure to get blood pumping and competitive spirit racing this winter.
THREE VILLAGES RENTALS, RETAIL, DINING Copper Mountain’s distinct mountain layout gives way to three resort villages, offering a gateway to terrain of varying degrees of difficulty. Aside from providing precise mountain access, each of Copper’s Center, East, and West pedestrian-friendly villages offer first-rate amenities including a broad selection of dining outlets, retail, equipment rental locations, and resort activities and events. Pick up savory bites from Ten Mile Tavern and Sawmill Pizza & Taphouse and drop by the Mammut Education Center or Camp Hale Outfitters for any outwear needs. After a day on the slopes, guests are invited to enjoy the resort’s mountain activities. Experience the thrill of snow tubing at the Tubing Hill presented by Bubly. Copper’s four-lane tubing hill, located in East Village, lets guests reach high speeds while navigating banked turns. Ride alone or with the whole family. Race up, down, and around on the longest alpine coaster in Colorado. The Rocky Mountain Coaster offers 5,800 feet of track for guests to coast and is open in the winter and summer seasons. Catch snow globe views while ice skating on West Lake in Center Village and be sure to take a leisurely snowshoe stroll or Nordic ski around the paths in Copper’s West Village. Ever Thursday starting Jan. 4 through March 28, Copper will offer $99 discounted lift tickets where a portion of proceeds will benefit a select non-profit partner. Tickets must be purchased online and in advance.
MOONLIGHT DINE + SKI
Moonlight Dine + Ski is making its return to Copper this winter. Take advantage of after hour laps on the mountain and enjoy a specially prepared feast at the Aerie. Copper will offer two Moonlight Dine + Ski experiences this winter on March 23 and April 5.
