THE once-a-year opportunity to climb Mount Cooroy is almost here.

The Cooroy Mountain Spring Festival is being held on 13 August and this year only a limited number of people will be able to climb Mount Cooroy.

Festival organiser, the Rotary Club of Cooroy, said due to Queensland Parks & Wildlife restrictions, only 700 people are able to climb the mountain at this year’s festival.

“Therefore, it is essential that you book online early to secure your opportunity to climb the mountain.

“If you miss out on a ticket to climb the mountain, don’t despair as there is plenty more on offer at the festival to keep you entertained and give you a fantastic family day out.”

McDermott Aviation will be offering helicopter rides and other activities include live music, entertainment fireside, a rainforest walk observation trail with a spot-the-animal activity, tractor hayrides, a kids’ activity centre, community displays and stalls, Rotary barbeque, Dhom’s Kitchen, ice cream and coffee.

“At 1 pm, there will be the helicopter tennis ball drop raffle, where 1,000 balls are dropped from the air and the closest balls to the spot are the prize winners.”

The event is a fundraiser, with the major beneficiary being Sunshine Butterflies.
