James Street will be turned into a carnival ground for the afternoon. Market stalls, rides, raffles and show bags will be on offer from 2pm. Reserve the date in your diary.

Tickets to have a go at dunking a teacher are going to be $5 for three turns, but what would you pay to have the first turn a dunking Mr C?

As the fire, flood and cyclone season approaches, Hinterland residents are being invited to join a local State Emergency Service (SES) branch. In urging people to sign-up as members, Noosa’s Local Disaster Coordinator, Martin Drydale, said SES volunteers provided a vital service to the community. He said the local branch needed more volunteers to help it maintain the level of service residents relied on. SES volunteer Carol Watkins said: “Being an SES volunteer is very rewarding because you can see first-hand the difference you are making to the community.” All SES members receive comprehensive training in areas such as: first aid; chainsaw use and safety; traffic control; radio communications; flood boat operations and working safely at heights. Noosa’s local SES is soon to commence a new schedule of volunteer training sessions on Monday evenings - 7pm to 9pm. Training and membership is free. For more information on the SES visit www.emergency.qld.gov.au/ ses/ and/or telephone Carol Watkins on 0408 078 073.
