IN less than a month, a weekly ‘Drop In’ held in Coolum’s Tickle Park has fostered a surge in positive community engagement and relationship building between local young people, local police and PCYC. Each week the turnout has grown with young people joining local officers for friendly chats, games and an all-important BBQ – all for free and held in one of the most picturesque beachside parks on the Sunshine Coast.

“Around 50-70 young people turn up each week to have fun with PCYC and Coolum Police, with really positive comments from participants.”

Design contract awarded for Motorway ramps at Mount Coolum

THE CRISAFULLI Government recently announced that SMEC Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded the detailed design contract to progress the Sunshine Motorway and West Coolum Road interchange upgrade at Mount Coolum.

The project will deliver two new south-facing ramps, providing an additional access point to the motorway between Yandina–Coolum Road and Pacific Paradise, helping to ease pressure on local intersections and reducing congestion.

The new interchange will support improved connections across the local road network, aligning with Sunshine Coast Council plans to connect Suncoast Beach Drive and South Coolum Road to West Coolum Road.

The south-facing ramps will also form part of the future duplication of the Sunshine Motorway from two to four lanes, supporting long-term growth across the region.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson praised the start of the project.

“We’re delivering this election commitment for the

Sunshine Coast and the design contract being awarded is an important milestone in this project’s progression,” Ms Simpson said.

“We know residents want to see action to address congestion and importantly this new interchange will integrate into Sunshine Coast Council’s plans to build a connector west of Mount Coolum, from South Coolum Road to Suncoast Beach Drive and West Coolum Road.”

Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie said the new ramps will help ease congestion by providing an additional access point to the Sunshine Motorway between YandinaCoolum Road and Pacific Paradise.

“This vital new interchange will connect with Council’s planned upgrades to the local road network and help relieve congestion at the busy Yandina-Coolum Road interchange,” Mr Purdie said.

“Ultimately we all want to see the duplication of the Sunshine Motorway from two to four lanes and these new south-facing ramps form an important part of that plan.”

ECONOMICS Dear editor, The current government’s heavy reliance on “Keating era economics” feels like a rerun of a 1980s textbook, not a serious response to the very different world we face today.

That playbook—dismantling protection, ending tariffs, and opening the economy to unrestricted imports—may have pleased blue chip economists, but it also hollowed out Australian manufacturing and left us dangerously exposed in an increasingly unstable global order.

We are now paying the price in lost jobs, weakened supply chain resilience, and dependence on foreign production at a time when security and self reliance matter more than ever.

The same kind of thinking is now being applied to housing and capital gains tax.

The government promises that changes to CGT and to the ability to offset investment losses against income will relieve rents and improve housing affordability.

Yet these are not new ideas: similar rules were introduced in the 1930s and modified again in 1985–87 precisely to respond to rent spikes and housing supply shortages.

History shows that tinkering with tax driven investment incentives rarely

delivers the stable, long term housing outcomes politicians claim, while still distorting markets and disadvantaging different cohorts of savers and investors.

Now Canberra wants to layer on a complicated new inflation based modelling system for calculating CGT, despite the headaches and market blockages such systems caused in the past.

Mechanisms that gum up the tax code, create uncertainty, and favour complex financial engineering over genuine investment are the opposite of what families and small landlords need.

Keating era economics had its place in the 1980s and 1990s, but the world has moved on.

In 2026 it is time to demand policies that build real, secure housing supply, rebuild strategic manufacturing capacity, and design tax rules that are fair, simple, and robust—not recycled ideas dressed up as bold reform.

SOCIAL MEDIA Dear editor, Blame it on “Tik Tok”, where via the popular global social media platform users can upload, create and discover short-form video content.

It is a highly addictive app, where users can become in-

stant “heroes” or “stars”, for all the wrong reasons!

Many “wannabees” want to show how many followers they can attract when displaying negative incidents; desperate for millions of “likes”. Desperate for attention in a social media world, the most anti-establishment actions are promoted to gain notoriety! What is this demographic yearning for fame seeking? Obviously, they have not drawn enough attention for their real-world lives and achievements!

Desperate to be “liked”, they endeavour to outdo the most chaotic and illegal actions, to become popular - simply for a tick! Recent displays of anarchy and chaos saw two of these users running through a Scientology book room, filming themselves. Caught by two workers who shut the outside doors, they were arrested.

Then a large group of these trouble-makers decided to run through a Scientology Church, filming the chaos.

They too, responded to a Tik Tok craze to invade a Scientology Church!

Tik Tok allows these users to promote ideas and recently it was used to gather a group of multiple e-bikes which were ridden through the Brisbane CBD en masse, causing disruption to traffic and normal business. Any attention is better than none apparently, even if the actions are not acceptable to our social norms.

Call to nature answered BLOODY LONG WALK RETURNS TO SUNSHINE COAST as Mt Coolum loo opens Raising awareness for Mitochondrial Disease one step at a time!

VISITORS to the iconic and very popular Mount Coolum will now find the trip even more comfortable with a new amenities block located at the base of the mountain in the car park finally open to the public.

The new facilities are set to make a difference for the thousands of people who tackle the popular Mount Coolum National Park track each month.

The modular amenities block includes a unisex Persons with Disability (PWD) toilet and three unisex ambulant cubicles, providing much needed convenience.

Division 8 Councillor Taylor Bunnag said the completion of the project was a great outcome for locals and visitors.

“Mount Coolum is one of the most loved walks on the Sunshine Coast, and this is something the community has been asking for, for a long time,” Cr Bunnag said.

“As someone who regularly climbs the mountain with my family, I know how important it is to have toilets nearby – especially when the closest facilities used to be two kilometres away.

“These new amenities make visiting Mount Coolum more comfortable and more welcoming for everyone.”

Cr Bunnag thanked the Queensland Government for its financial support in delivering the project.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said it was a “relief” that the project had finally been delivered.

“Mount Coolum is a key tourism drawcard for visitors to the Sunshine Coast and the project and the new amenities will support the growing popularity of the site and encourage more visitors to do the right thing when they are exploring this stunning part of the region.”

“Improving comfort at the mountain will encourage tourists to linger longer on the Sunshine Coast and explore all we have to offer.

“This project addresses a long-standing need and ensures Mount Coolum National Park is a welcoming destination for all.”

MORE DETAILS • The prefabricated amenities block was designed with visitor safety in mind.

• The open and accessible layout helps people feel safe and comfortable while using the facilities.

• The building is also powered by its own solar system.

• The Crisafulli Government funded 90 per cent of this project and worked in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Council to deliver it.

• The Mount Coolum summit track is a 1.6-kilometre return walk and is classified Grade 4, suitable for fit walkers only. The summit rises 208 metres above sea level and offers sweeping coastal views.

THOUSANDS of walkers will be traversing the coastline this Sunday May 31 from 6.30am as the Sunshine Coast ‘Bloody Long Walk’ sets about raising much needed funds for the Mito Foundation and people impacted by mitochondrial disease.

Locally, ‘Team Maeve’ will once again be taking on the 35km walk which will be departing from Coolum’s Tickle Park.

Dad to ‘Maeve’ who has mitochondrial disease, Joel Hood from Joel Hood Property said that the event continues to grow because of its welcoming atmosphere and stunning course.

“People can join our team or create their own and the goal is to raise money for the Mito Foundation which helps by assisting families and lobbying,” Joel said.

At the heart of Team Maeve’s involvement is their personal connection by way of Maeve.

“It’s about channelling the disappointment and sadness into something positive.

The day gives people exercise, perspective and a chance to see parts of the coast they may never normally experience.”

Joel said the focus had now shifted toward building awareness and long-term support for mitochondrial disease, commonly known as mito — a debilitating genetic condition that robs the body’s cells of energy and can affect multiple organs.

Everyone has mitochondria in their cells. They provide 90 per cent of the energy our bodies need to stay alive. But when your mitochondria don’t work properly, it can be life

threatening. This is known as mitochondrial disease, or mito.

This Sunday walkers will set off in waves beginning at 6.30am, with the final group departing at 7am from Tickle Park in Coolum.

“There are checkpoints every five kilometres with refreshments and toilets along the way. It might sound scary, but it’s not. We don’t train — we just give it a go,” Joel said.

Organisers are encouraging the wider community to get involved by cheering participants on, joining Team Maeve, creating their own team, or donating to the cause.

Participation fees help cover permits and event costs, while additional fundraising supports the Mito Foundation, which advocates for research, treatment and support for affected families.

Team Maeve is also helping shine the spotlight on another Sunshine Coast family fighting mito through the sale of their Peregian Beach home.

The property at 155 Clarendon Road is being sold by Joel Hood Property to help fund life-changing treatment

for young Emily, who is living with a rare mitochondrial disease.

Funds raised through the sale will support Emily’s ongoing gene therapy, with her family already completing stage one of the treatment process.

“There are four stages, and this will help maintain her current quality of life,” Mr Hood said.

The family has shared their story via ‘Emily’s Garden Foundation’ in the hope of reaching a wider audience and building support for Emily’s future.

Community members can support the Bloody Long Walk by walking, donating or simply turning out to cheer participants along the route this Sunday May 31.

Quota Coolum Beach ‘Pop Up’ Stall IT WAS a busy morning on Thursday May 21 in the forecourt area of the Pacific on Coolum building with the ladies from Quota Coolum Beach holding one of their regular ‘pop up’ stalls. The ladies hold these stalls on a Thursday regularly from 8am to 12 noon and have all manner of handmade

items on sale.

From preserves, jams, cakes, plants and handmade items the ladies make all of the items and use their fundraising revenue to support other women, most notably young mothers.

The next pop-up stall will be on Thursday July2 then August 13, September 24, October 29

and November 26. The new Queensland Government is unlocking new housing supply to deliver more Queenslanders a place to call home.

efore a home can be built, the right foundations need to be laid.

Infrastructure for water, stormwater, roads, sewage, power, and telecommunications all need to be in place.

That’s why the Queensland Government is funding these types of essential infrastructure projects that are ready to start immediately – so more homes can be built sooner.

The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is part of a range of housing initiatives being delivered across the state, and a key pillar of the Queensland Government’s Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan, unlocking housing supply and ensuring communities have the infrastructure needed to grow.

Alongside the new Residential Activation Fund, the Queensland Government is also: ▶ supporting first home buyers by removing stamp duty on new builds,

helping 2204 Queenslanders since May 2025. Eligible buyers save $9096 on a median-priced house and land package in Queensland.

▶ extending the $30,000 first home owner grant to 30 June 2026 – which

has already helped 2629 people this financial year.

▶ delivering a nation-leading Boost to Buy shared equity scheme to help

reduce the deposit gap, already helping 150 Queenslanders get into their first home. Round two is now open.

▶ increasing rental availability by lifting subletting restrictions. ▶ delivering one million homes, including 53,500 social and community

homes by 2044.

Delivering critical infrastructure is driving housing supply and easing housing pressure, with land unlocked for more than 98,000 new homes for Queenslanders.

Round one of the fund is already supporting 98 projects across the state.

With $500 million available in round two, and fifty percent of those allocated to regional Queensland, more Queenslanders will have a place to call home sooner.

Queensland Property Council Executive Director Jess Caire said the funding had been warmly received by industry.

“The Property Council advocated strongly for this funding due to the obvious feasibility gaps for new housing that were clearly precipitated by a lack of sufficient infrastructure,” she said.

“The Residential Activation Fund goes to the heart of this issue, and we congratulate the Government for announcing and enacting it so quickly.”

To ensure these projects deliver results quickly, they need to be ready to start within 12 months of the project being announced and completed within three years.

Local Government Association of Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Alison Smith said the initiative is delivering game-changing infrastructure that will see thousands of new homes built right across the state.

Projects delivering at least 52,000 new homes in South East Queensland, include: Ipswich: Up to 11,300 new homes are being unlocked through two critical infrastructure projects - $15.8 million to upgrade Fischer Road including stormwater drainage, street lighting, turning lanes, and a 3m shared path. $57.9 million to transform Ripley Road into a four-lane urban arterial road with stormwater drainage, cycle tracks, footpaths, bus stops, and a service road.

Moreton Bay: Unlocking more than 10,300 homes through four critical infrastructure projects, including a new Caboolture River bridge for Waraba and $24 million towards upgrading the Bellmere Road Corridor. This $45.8 million investment is supporting vibrant new residential communities.

Brisbane and Scenic Rim: A $47 million boost towards the Gardner Road Extension in Rochedale, unlocking 685 new homes. $14.7

Social and Affordable Housing at the heart of Queensland’s long-term plan T wo periods of homelessness and a stint in emergency housing would shake any family. For Amy and Floyd, they’ve found what every parent wants for their kids – a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home.

The journey wasn’t easy for this Wide Bay family of seven. With five children aged between four and 20 years, including three with ADHD and intellectual disabilities, Amy and Floyd faced significant challenges in finding stable housing. But with the support of the RentConnect team at the Bundaberg Housing Service Centre, they were able to turn their situation around and secure a Helping Hand Headlease on a suburban 4-bedroom home.

Amy says life is much easier now. “Before, we were living day-to-day,” she said.

“Now, we can see the future and make plans to own our own home. We

couldn’t do that before because we were terrified of being homeless again.”

This investment is about more than building houses – it’s about giving Queenslanders like Amy and Floyd stability and opportunities.

The Government is also supporting Community Housing Providers through the $4 million Community Housing Futures Program, which helps them build their capacity and grow to deliver more social and community housing.

Community Housing Industry Association Queensland CEO Julie Saunders said

“We had been living with our in-laws on the Gold Coast along with our twoyear-old and four-year-old to try to save as much as we can.

QShelter CEO Fiona Caniglia agreed sustained investment is key.

“The extension of the Community Housing Futures Program means every dollar of funding turns into more homes for those who need it most,” she said.

The Queensland Government’s A Place to Call Home initiatives are about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about creating opportunities, fostering independence, and helping every Queenslander thrive in a home they can call their own.

First-time home buyer Mitchell Stanger said the Government equity scheme turned something that felt like years away into a reality for their young family.

“With the Government’s equity contribution, we were able to buy and have payments we can manage and ultimately have the security of knowing we have a place to call home.

“I’m so proud of myself and my wife and my family that we were able to achieve this goal in a short amount of time thanks to the Boost to Buy scheme.”

The Stangers’ story highlights the Government’s commitment to unlocking more homes and supporting first home buyers.

Three months since its launch, more than 150 buyers now have the keys to their first home through the scheme.

Round two applications for the scheme are now open, with an additional 500 placements available, and half reserved for regional Queensland.

The Boost to Buy scheme provides a government equity contribution of up to 30 per cent for new homes and 25 per cent for existing homes, and to be eligible, home buyers need to have saved a minimum of two per cent deposit for the purchase price of a property up to $1 million.

The Queensland Government has committed $330 million for up to 2000 places in the scheme over three years.

MEMBER FOR NINDERRY MOTORWAY RAMPS I’M PLEASED to share that we’ve reached an important milestone on my election commitment to deliver an additional access point to the Sunshine Motorway at Mount Coolum, with the contract now awarded for detailed design work to begin.

The proposed south-facing ramps will help ease pressure at the busy Yandina-Coolum Road intersection and improve local connectivity with Council progressing plans for the complementary links to the West Coolum Road interchange through extensions to South Coolum Road and Suncoast Beach.

This is a practical and much-needed step for our growing community and part of the broader vision to duplicate the Sunshine Motorway between Pacific Paradise and Coolum.

Wheels do far more than deliver meals - they provide care, connection and support to vulnerable community members.

It was also fantastic to see the organisation secure a $25,850 grant from the Queensland Community Foundation to upgrade its walk-in freezer.

Another group making a lasting difference is the Coolum Red Cross, whose volunteers have made and donated thousands of handknitted trauma teddies over the last 30 years to police, ambulance and medical centres.

Handmade by the legends at the Coolum Men’s Shed, the Red Bench was created with support from the Queensland Police Service, Council and Red Rose Foundation Australia. It now sits

proudly in Tickle Park as a visible reminder of the importance of open conversations, awareness and support.

The unveiling brought together local clubs, foundations, partner agencies and community members in solidarity, sending a clear and united message: we say no to domestic and family violence.

IN BRILLIANT news, the Coolum High ‘Strings Orchestra’ has won platinum at Fanfare, which is a little bit like climbing Mt Everest for the first time. Our strings teacher, Tara Anderson, has taken this group from a small and somewhat struggling ensemble into an orchestra that is now making music that reaches peak levels that has now been recognised by the toughest of judges.

Tara’s work in this has been outstanding. My hero, Geoffrey Canada, says “when you see a great teacher you are seeing a work of art.” It’s absolutely true! What Tara has been able to do with these students and the standard of performance she has extracted from them is truly outstanding.

The strings program works in with the wealth of other music programs in the school to create an environment of musical excellence.

Alongside the strings is the magnificent Wind Symphony, conducted by Ms Guest, who have given our community so many wonderful performances and are now one of the best musical groups on the Sunshine Coast and in Queensland.

Recently, we have been

joined by Coolum local, Pat Preston, who is leading our Rock Band program.

The talent that has gathered around Pat, and his infectious enthusiasm, is truly remarkable. I can guarantee you we will hear exceptional performances from these students before too long. I know these performances are coming, because I’ve heard them rehearsing. The momentum in this program is at fever pitch.

Alongside this sits our vocal program, a group expertly prepared by Charly Bradshaw, who bring music to life through their layered and powerful voices. The number of students in this program and their quality grows every year. Mr Samson is also preparing our jazz ensemble who are special crowd favourites wherever they perform.

With so much on the go it’s fair to say that Coolum High’s music program is absolutely thriving. To see the Strings Orchestra achieve their success is something of which we can all be proud and just reward for years of hard work and devotion. Congratulations Ms Anderson and the Strings Orchestra – you absolutely deserve this celebration of your sustained excellence!

Every will appoints executors and also trustees who have charge of the funds of the estate until such time as they can be brought into their possession, transferred on to beneficiaries, or liquidated and distributed to those with an entitlement. Sometimes the trustee obligations last longer, for example where there are gifts to minor children or a life interest in the family home to a surviving spouse. All of the obligations and powers in the Trusts Act 2025 apply to the same extent as any other type of trust and your solicitor will often include some other powers in the body of the will for good measure.

Don’t panic though, the sort of simple trusts that arise in the course of estate admin-

istration don’t come under the new 30% tax regime for trusts in the recent Federal budget. What will be covered however, are discretionary testamentary trusts, that is formal trusts set up within the will which come into play at the time of death.

Testamentary trusts, throughout most of history, have been used as protective measure which a will-maker might use when they have children with particular vulnerabilities – disability, addiction, bankruptcy, imminent marriage breakdown – which make the payment to them of a large lump sum benefit a bad idea. Instead, the money is held on trust, invested wisely and advanced to them as required.

In more recent years, testamentary trust wills have been widely touted as the next big thing in tax minimisation.

coolumadvertiser.com.au This is because the ability to split the income among beneficiaries including minor children is still available for testamentary trusts, where such distributions from family trusts have been taxed at 47% for many years. I have been warning clients for as long as I have worked in this area of law that the government will inevitably close this loophole, and a flat 30% tax on income certainly does that.

The detail is not clear, but there is a sense in the Budget papers that there will be carve-outs for trusts relating to discretionary testamentary trusts for vulnerable people – the protective trusts mentioned above. Fixed testamentary trusts are also not covered. This is where the will sets out what part of the capital and income the beneficiaries are to receive and when. At this stage it’s the tax-minimisation allowed for by income splitting which the government is mostly worried about, and this is enabled by the discretionary nature of distributions under discretionary testamentary trusts.

Community-led solutions central to Reconciliation NATIONAL Reconciliation Week (May 27 - June 3) is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and recommit to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Marking this year’s theme, ‘All In for Reconciliation’, the St Vincent de Paul Society is urging all Australians to listen more deeply to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and to support solutions shaped and led by communities themselves.

The Society’s National President Mark Gaetani said reconciliation must be guided by respect, trust and a willingness to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

“Being ‘all in’ for reconciliation means recognising that communities understand what works for them,” Mr Gaetani said.

“It means backing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership and making sure people have the resources and authority to make decisions about their own lives.”

Many of the people supported by the Society are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. We believe this reflects the ongoing impact of intergenerational disadvantage in housing, in-

come and access to essential services. Through our Members, volunteers and staff, the Society works alongside individuals, families and communities to provide practical support while also advocating to Parliaments for longer-term change.

Mr Gaetani said governments across Australia have an important responsibility to support approaches that are led locally and shaped by lived experience. This is the only way that we as a nation can close the gap that exists between most Australians and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sisters and brothers.

“We need to see sustained, targeted investment in community-led initiatives,” he said.

“Too often, decisions are made far from the communities they affect. If we are serious about change, we need to trust community elders and fund what they know

will work.”

“National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to reflect, but it’s also a call to act,” Mr Gaetani said.

“Reconciliation is not a one-week effort. It’s something we need to commit to every day, in how we listen, how we support one another, and how we work together for a fairer, more just and more compassionate Australia for all of us.”

Celebrating our community champions who volunteer NATIONAL Volunteer Week which is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, took place from May 18 to 24 and the theme this year, ‘Your Year to Volunteer’ encourages first time volunteers, celebrates the dedication of long-time volunteers and recognises that volunteering looks different for everyone.

Every day across the Sunshine Coast, volunteers generously give their time, skills and care to support programs that help bring people together, build confidence and strengthen community life.

More than 4,000 volunteers share their time and skills to help deliver services and experiences that support the Sunshine Coast community, and all tiers of government collectively said “thank you” to these community stalwarts and champions.

Sunshine Coast Council Division 9 Councillor Maria Suarez said Council valued the work of volunteers enormously.

“Their contributions strengthen communities, sup-

port essential services, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

“Many organisations and causes could not function without the dedication and generosity of volunteers; they really are the heart of community support.”

Cr Suarez also highlighted the positive social connection which is made by way of helping out.

“Volunteering helps to build friendships with individuals who share similar interests and values, you can learn new skills, and the satisfaction in helping others or the environment gives a sense of purpose or achievement which can boost your mood and reduce stress.”

The local region is not short of groups to volunteer with, and Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson highlighted the diversity on offer to those wishing to volunteer.

“The incredible contribution they make to organisations such as STEPs Charity, Rotary, Wishlist, Maroochy Neighbourhood

Centre, Bloomhill, Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, Anglicare, Coast Guard, Surf Life Saving and so many others would not exist without them,” Ms Simpson said.

“Volunteers are vital in supporting people across the Sunshine Coast and making our community a stronger, kinder and more connected place to live.

“I would personally like to say, ‘thank you’ to every volunteer across the Sunshine Coast for the selfless time, care and assistance you provide to our community each and every day.”

Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie made mention of the long-standing organisations in the community which are powered by volunteers.

“Coolum Beach Meals on Wheels recently celebrated their 40th anniversary, having grown from 22 clients in 1986 to over 200 clients today.

Thanks to their amazing team of over 200 volunteers, they provide much more than a meal,” Mr Purdie said.

“With our Surf Life Saving Season wrapping up for

winter, the vital role our volunteer patrol members play in keeping our families safe can be seen in an astonishing 2,760 rescues carried out across Queensland beaches this summer.”

“I’d like to thank every member of Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club who pulled on the red and yellow and volunteered their time spending long days in the sun to protect others.”

Mr Purdie also made mention of the SES volunteers who are there when disaster strikes.

“As we saw during the severe storm cells which smashed Coolum Beach in November last year, our amazing orange army – the Coolum SES Group – were there for us, working tirelessly to put tarps over damaged roofs, assist with the clean-up and help restore safety amid fallen trees and powerlines.”

Community news COOLUM RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (CRA) The Coolum Residents Association will be holding its annual general meeting of members at 5pm Thursday, 4 June in the small conference room upstairs at the Coolum Beach Surf Club.

Among other things, the meeting will elect the management committee and other administrative positions. CRA is a local community organisation that aims to identify and promote sustainable opportunities to preserve and enhance amenity and facilities, and promote local artists in the Coolum Beach and surrounding areas.

In addition to community art projects, CRA is also focusing on active transport and pedestrian safety and amenity.
