Annual Meeting of the Members
Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Sallisaw
Middle School Gymnasium
CHEC’s Annual Meeting is just around the corner, and we hope you are making plans to attend. The Annual Meeting is the biggest day of the year for the co-op. It is an opportunity for members to visit with the CHEC board of trustees, hear important information from General Manager Juli Orme, receive a credit on their electric bill, and win awesome prizes.
In addition to our traditional information booths, the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives will have a voter registration booth available for anyone who needs to register to vote in state and federal elections. We are also adding an exciting feature to our Kids’ Zone section. We will still have face painting, the money pit, and the safety demonstration table, but we are offering bucket truck rides for the kids this year!
“I look forward to meeting with our members each year and sharing important information about Cookson Hills and what is happening within the energy industry,” said Juli Orme, General Manager.

“As a member-owner, the Annual Meeting is a great opportunity for our members to be informed, ask questions, and get involved in their cooperative.”
Members attending the meeting on Oct. 5 will receive a $20 credit on their electric bill. They will also have the opportunity to win numerous prizes, including the $500 grand prize. The first 1,000 attendees will receive a prize pack that includes some free CHEC merchandise.
The official notice letter with meeting information and a map of the meeting location will be mailed out in late September, so be watching your mailbox for the notice. This notice will serve as your entry ticket for the event, a $20 credit on your electric bill, and the prize drawing held at the end of the meeting.
Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. You can find a map on page 4 of this Hot Watts. Come and enjoy some live music, a prize pack, and more. We hope to see you there!

Electric Meter Replacements Continue
Members who receive power from the Liberty Substation will continue to see activity, as Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative replaces existing electric meters. CHEC has contracted Anixter Utility Power Solutions to continue upgrades to our electric metering system. Anixter, with over 80 years of experience in the metering industry, is replacing older AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) meters with new AMI meters. 1705907
Members receiving a new meter will experience a very brief power outage during the replacement process. The Anixter team will drive a white van with the Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative logo on the side. Anixter employees may come to your door to inform you of the activity but will not ask for your account or other personal information. If someone asks you for your account or personal information, please do not provide it to the individual without talking to an employee at Cookson Hills Electric. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 800-328-2368.

Eliminate the Unwelcome Surprise
Sometimes, surprises are exciting and fun – other times, not so much. Have you ever been blindsided by unexpected expenses like vehicle repairs, a broken refrigerator, or a shockingly high electric bill? If you’d prefer a more consistent monthly electric bill to help with budgeting, our Budget Billing program might be your solution. With Budget Billing, your monthly bill is calculated by averaging your current bill with your previous 11 months’ bills, helping to even out any fluctuations and avoid
unexpected spikes in your payments. Best of all? There’s no extra charge for using Budget Billing. To qualify, members only need to meet the following criteria: have at least one year of billing history, have no more than two late payments in the past 12 months, and have no returned checks. You can sign up for Budget Billing on our website at https://www. cooksonhills.com/budget-billing or by calling us at 800-328-2368.
