CHEC introduces Cookson Hills Connect high-speed broadband project

For many years, the mission of Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative has been to make lives and communities better by providing our members with high-quality, affordable services. CHEC’s board of trustees and staff are excited to tell you that we are re-committing tothat mission with plans to build a world-class, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network to serve 100 percent of our members. This service will be offered through Cookson Hills Connect, a newly formed subsidiary of Cookson Hills Electric.

As we’ve all learned over the past months, highspeed internet is no longer a luxury, but a necessity — one that our communities have lacked until now. With fiber-tothe-home, we will benefit from the fastest and most robust internet in the nation. [2559801]

Cookson Hills Connect’s fiber network will provide symmetrical gigabit speeds — an important distinction that means you will get the same lightning-fast speeds and power for both downloading and uploading. Symmetrical speed opens the door to telemedicine, eases your ability to efficiently work from home, allows your kids to learn from home via distance learning and enables a breadth of new tools and applications.

We are currently in the initial planning stages and determining our build-out schedule. A project of this magnitude will take some time to complete but rest assured that we will move as quickly as possible and are committed to reaching 100 percent of our members.
