JOANNE WESTOVER HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER I very recently commenced working with our Cooke & Dowsett team in the capacity of Human Resource Manager, based in Keilor Park. A big thank you to all who have welcomed me warmly into the business. Essentially my role is to assist our leadership teams with all facets of managing and developing their personnel, from hiring, on-boarding, communicating expectations, assisting with performance appraisals, training and of course to any other matter where anyone may need assistance with their professional development and wellbeing in their career with us. I am currently working on ensuring all managers and employees have a communicated position description and clearly defined expectations which will lead to the completion of performance appraisals across the group in the coming months. Performance Appraisals are a wonderful opportunity to ensure everyone is developing in line with C&D’s growth, and for everyone to have an uninterrupted opportunity to talk about their own personal goals, career direction, and most importantly how we can help you get there. I’ll be running some training on this topic amongst other topics in the coming months. I look forward to meeting and supporting all our teams across the C&D group of companies. I am in the office Monday’s and Wednesday’s, however I can be reached at other times on 0412060528 or email jwestover@cookedowsett.com.au

COOKE & DOWSETT ROSETTA PLUMBING

CDR has had great end of financial year results in its inaugural year and has strong future prospects looking forward to FY19-20. Still in its first 12 months of operation, CDR has quickly grown to a team of over 30 staff including plumbers, apprentices and administration staff. The company currently has 5 main projects including office re-fit, hotels and a high school upgrade. With a lack of quality plumbers on the island, CDR has also been first choice for some labour hire contracts predominantly to help finish the Royal Hobart Hospital project working with Wilsons Plumbing and On Line Fire. The construction market in Tasmania and in particular Hobart is still claiming to be ‘strong’ for the rest of the year and beyond. CDR Estimator Richard Flood has been pricing consistently for the year. There are a few projects expected for the north of the state (Launceston, Devonport and Burnie) and we are looking keenly to expand into these markets. Parliament Square Precinct - Andy May continues to lead CDR’s largest project being a 6-star Marriott Hotel and retail precinct. Mat Yanez and the C&D design team have done an amazing job adapting design to the everchanging layouts. Consequently, the whole project has been quite a slow process, but each month we make a little headway heading towards completion.

17

Parliament Square Precinct

Crown Plaza Hotel

Crown Plaza Hotel - CDR Site Manager Sam Young and his team are doing an excellent job keeping up with Hutchinson Builders and other subbies. This project has grown recently with additional scope including redeveloping the entrance way on Liverpool St, commercial kitchen and potential Hobarts first Sky Bar. 80 Elizabeth St - CDR’s 80 Elizabeth St project is the fit out of an existing 5 storey building as 75 x accommodation suites. The existing building has been fully gutted as an empty shell and is required to be fully fit out with services. This project is also growing with a proposed 8 x penthouse suites on top, and some added retail at ground floor.

Glowing feedback received recently from Scott Mason Director of Online Fire & Security “Just a quick note to say how impressed and appreciative we are with the CDR’s efforts on Monday night, with the works involved with the Liverpool Street town’s main cut in and the Block J/ED and A changeover at the RHHR, all completed concurrently. CDR’s professionalism and dedication to complete the works in difficult conditions, is to be commended. Your team is a credit to the business.” 80 Elizabeth St
