With a little dribble kick up the road we land at 443 Queen St. A 47 storey project which has been going for currently 5 years. To Steve and his team, hang in there, you are doing a commendable job in very trying circumstances, we appreciate the work you are doing including the major achievement in obtaining the fire service certification. This is no small feat and should be recognisedasawin!
Launching a booming torpedo punt over the Brisbane River we land at the New Performing Arts Venue (NPAV). This project is running behind schedule on structure, severely impacting what the services trades can do. Project Manager Travis Richards has been managing this project for over 2 years now and we still only have bits and pieces of basement work and ongoing temps. Having said that, once structure is complete, we will be busyandthecompletedbuildingwillbeashowstopper!!
Cairns Convention Centre, it’s been a big last 6 months onsitewithplentyofhighlevelservicesbeinginstalledin the extra high floors. Hopefully by Easter 2023 the project will be just about completed. It’s been a challenge for Luke Dimieri and the boys on site and we appreciatetheworkyouhaveinstalledtodate.
Our 2 Satellite Hospital projects are opposite ends of the compass, we go down to the bottom of the Gold CoasttoTugunwhereSiteManagerBrettMiskinisdoing more surfing than plumbing!! There is some momentum slowly building and it appears it will be a busy start to 2023atTugun.
Out West at Ripley our other Satellite Hospital, Jordan and Billy have done an excellent job under the guidance of Project Manager “Big Red” and are well ahead of program with all rough in and plant complete ready for fitoffinthenewyear.Keepupthegoodworklads.
A drop punt around the corner we have officially secured the hydraulic contract to the Roma St Station and are primed to turn the Albert St temps package into the official hydraulics package as well in the very near future. This job is a structural beast and a logistical/programming nightmare. At this stage as it starts to go from the civil underground tunnelling contract to the construction phase of the contract where structural and services tradesstarttocomeonboard. C&Dareon2ofthe5stationprecinctsthat istheCrossRiverRail(CRR)project.
At Roma St we have permanent temps being installed as well as sewer pump and de-water pump stations being plumbed in. Weareaimingtohaveamachineinthefirst week of December to start inground water/fire and stormwater services. With a Diesel Williams handball away at Albert St we have the temp services ongoing, continually changing almost daily with the complexity and nature of the build and the extremely tight working footprint. We have risingseweranddewatermainspumpingup from 50m below ground and have a team readytoinstalltempfireandwaterservices in the station cavern, which is 30m underground, linking the 2 station boxes together. Special mention to Jezza and Thommo for their efforts so far on this project, there has been some big days and nights completed this year and it’s because of the can do attitude that has helped put usintheircurrentpositionwearein.
We welcome Project Manager Damien Granland who comes to us withmanysenioryearsofexperiencebothinVicandQldandwho will no doubt be a key part of the team here moving forward. We alsoacknowledgeandcongratulateTristanLyonsbeingelectedas ournewcompanyuniondelegate/HSR.

The run into Christmas is always a busy time for the construction industry with a high demand for projects to be finished in time for the new year and a high demand for pricing ready for projects to begin in the new year. Prior to the end of January C&D will be completing the following projects that we have been very proud to beinvolvedin.
Comprising of a 12-story premium office tower and podium revitalisation, the new Westralia Tower II is unique with its steel framed structure with timber floor plates. C&D have worked with Builttobeabletodeliverthisproject.
The Murdoch New Academic Building has been completed in partnership with Multiplex and will be open in time for the new University year. This project has been running for around 18 months and is the largest timber frame building in Perth. With timber comingfromallovertheworld, this has been a real challenge throughout the project however the final results and finishes speak forthemselves.
Thisprojecthasbeendelieveredinstagesover the past 2 1/2 years. The project was a mix of a relocation, new build and the demolition of the old hospital. Throughout the Covid-19 restraints this has been a logistical challenge forC&DandalsoADCOConstruction.Thiswill bringmuchneededsixemergencybays, twelve inpatient beds, an outpatient centre, medical imaging,purpose-builtGPconsultationspaces and two dental chairs to Newman and the surroundingarea.

2023 will be a busy year on the Indigo Hotel & Apartments Project. We have our plumbing team ready at the waiting to be given that green light to attack the newly stripped floors. This is our first NZ project that has been developed using Revit and BIM 360 modelling with a lot of early designingandplanninggoinginto the build to assist with coordinationonsite.Thenextgapto expand the advantage of 3D modelling is allowing the site team easier access to this golden nuggetofinformationtogoalong with the traditional sets of drawings.
