My little piece of heaven

Ring… Ring…

— Fran? Are you busy?

— No… —I answered.

— Estela is in the hospital.

— What happened?

She is having the baby. —Said my worried mother.

— OH MY GOD.

I am screwed! And now what? What should I do?

Well, I have to go. — I told myself.

I left as fast as I could.

At the hospital, my heart was beating fast, because I was very nervous; I felt anxious to know what was happening.

In my mind a million thoughts.

In a few seconds my life was about to change.

A few hours passed by and I was stressed and desperate to know how the situation was going.

My own thoughts dancing in my head as I realized that soon my faith was due.

The first time I saw my baby girl, she was in an incubator.

I was so excited to see her little face. She was so pretty, those cheeks and baby hair. I told myself:

“What a beautiful baby has God given me!�

My face reflected an immense smile that everyone could see. I asked myself why everyone is looking at me? They must think that I was crazy, I could not stop laughing.

I couldn’t care less about the curious looks.

I looked at her hands, so tiny. When I got to pick her up I felt her sweetness and her fragility as a rose petal.

In that moment I felt something unforgettable and very beautiful.

Years later, playing with her, I heard her voice saying:

“Daddy.�

I turned around to see her and I was so astonished waiting to hear the same word again.

She looked at me and said:

“Daddy”

A rain of emotions came down on me and took me to an overwhelming happiness.

I hugged her and told her:

“I love you, my little princess.”

About six months after her first words, she gave her first steps.

One day she was a bit uneasy, so I turned to her and saw her on her feet, stumbling and in that moment her first steps. I smiled. Those first steps!

She walked towards me and hugged me. She wanted me to walk beside her and I could see happiness in her face.

Years have passed by. My empty room reminds me of your first steps that now have become into long walks in a road full of adversities and obstacles.

I yearn to be by your side, my beautiful little princess. To see what you have accomplished, even in my absence.
