Local Veterinarian Opens Pet Menders Animal Hospital There’s a new pet doc in town. Todd Russell, D.V.M., a Firestone resident, opened Pet Menders Animal Hospital mid-August at 3652 Reliance Dr., Frederick 80516, near the Starbucks west of I25 off Hwy. 52. This is his second location after purchasing the Boulder Pet Menders in 2019. He and his team provide elite veterinary care, enhancing and strengthening the family-pet bond. “The family-pet bond is growing stronger every year I practice,” Russell said, “It’s a wonderful sight to see. Pets are an integral part of the family, and many lifelong memories are formed with them as a centerpiece.” He shares how fascinated kids are seeing their puppy get its first shots and the joyous reunion a family has with their pet after an invasive surgery. Recognizing the individuality of each pet, whether dog or cat, Dr. Russell proudly offers personalized, compassionate pet care. His authentic love for animals radiates during conversations while determining patient care options. Whether it’s a preventative or an illness visit, they decide together with the family which is the best option for them and their pet. “Not every pet is the same. Not every pet has the same lifestyle. Similarly, each owner has their own goals and desires for their pet. Every dog does not have to receive a bordetella vaccine and not every cat needs an FeLV vaccine,” Russell says. “Each pet should have their own wellness
plan developed specific for them and their lifestyle. “Along these lines, not every pet presenting for vomiting needs to have the exact same diagnostic work up. That should be determined through a thorough evaluation of the pet by the veterinarian and a conversation with their owner. The best management route should be recommended, and from there we discuss with the owners their goals and expectations and decide how to proceed.” Pet Menders Animal Hospital is a small animal practice. new location, clients will have an easier commute from Erie, Firestone, Thornton, Dacono, Ft. Lupton, Brighton, and around the Frederick area when getting care for their dog or cat. Dr. Russell says he enjoys going to work daily and being able to see cats and dogs all day long. “I enjoy the patients, but I enjoy the interaction with their people too. There is nothing better than the joy on a family’s face when they pick up their pet after a health scare,” he says. He advises, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. For instance, it is easier and safer to prevent heartworm disease than it is to treat it. It’s the same for pet dental care. “We do a 10% discount for pets that need a dental cleaning if it is booked within 30 days of the appointment,” he says. In his spare time, he enjoys his family. Their time revolves around his two children’s hobbies. Dr. Russell rides dirt bikes and snowmobiles and cheers on all Michigan sports teams.
