Agro-Investment Corporation Launches Southern Plains Agricultural Development Project

Agro-Investment Corporation is proud to announce the launch of the Southern Plains Agricultural Development Project (SPADP), as presented by the Honorable Floyd Green, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining in Parliament today. This transformative project aims to bolster Jamaica’s agricultural sector through the development of two new Agro-Parks: Amity/Bridge Pen (St. Catherine) and Parnassus (Clarendon).

Supported by the Government of Jamaica, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, the UK Caribbean Infrastructure Development Fund, and the Caribbean Development Bank, SPADP will provide 795 hectares of fertile land. The project includes advanced irrigation systems, comprehensive training programmes, and Matching Grant financing to ensure sustainable agricultural practices and increased productivity.

Agro-Investment Corporation will manage the application process and oversee the operations of the new Agro-Parks. Interested Agri-investors are invited to apply for land starting June 1, 2024. This initiative is expected to enhance food security, create jobs, and contribute to Jamaica’s economic growth.
