ommy Hawkins & Sons Inc. started

with only a box tractor and a single-axle

dump truck. In 1985, founder Tommy Hawkins left a construction job when the company shut down and chose to build his own path with the help of his wife, Rosalie, who worked a second job to support their new dream. Tommy began by grading driveways and doing small cleanup work with used equipment, then added trucks, a loader and eventually a homemade paving setup pulled behind a dump truck.

“That first paving machine didn’t even have a motor; my brother, Steven, and I crawled under the dump truck, hooked the cables and dragged that box while our father, Tommy, ran the screws to pave,” recalled R.J. Buchmeyer, President of Tommy Hawkins & Sons. “From there, we just kept adding a little at a time, getting good customers, doing good work.”

Word got around. As the small family business built a reputation for consistent relationship-driven work, it turned into a full sitework contractor that currently employs roughly 70 people, including four generations of family members, and is on its sixth paver, which has a motor along with all the bells and whistles of modern paving equipment.

“The work has been a blessing,” said R.J. “We’re based out of Fort Pierce, Florida, and we’ve been able to stay local and mostly work in St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.”

Business Operations. “Everyone from retirees to young families are moving to Florida, and they all need somewhere to live, shop and fuel up. We’re in the middle of building the infrastructure that allows them to enjoy life down here.”

The company’s niche is turnkey commercial site packages. Crews clear trees, move dirt, build pads, install underground utilities, prep subgrade, pour curb, place base and pave parking lots. Tommy Hawkins & Sons typically handles everything outside the building and coordinates around other trades that are often already on-site. The work ranges from 5- to 10-acre commercial pads all the way up to 50-acre distribution and logistics projects. At any given time, the team may have 40-plus active jobs in some stage of construction. That pace means communication is essential between general contractors, inspectors and internally.

“Customer service is the difference,” stated R.J. “We tell people the truth. If they need help with something small, we don’t bury them in change orders. If a job starts slipping, we’ll work seven days, 12 hours if we have to, so they still hit their date.”

Utilizing technology

The company’s ability to take on more complex work has grown with its equipment fleet, which includes a variety of Komatsu machines from Linder Industrial Machinery Company, such as D39PXi-24 and D51PXi-24 intelligent machine control (IMC) 2.0 dozers, a WA270 wheel loader, a PC210LCi-11 IMC 2.0 excavator, and one of the first new PC220LCi-12 IMC 3.0 excavators in the United States.

“I’ll be honest, I was old school,” admitted R.J. “For years, I said GPS wouldn’t work for us because we’re not doing straight highway runs. We’re doing parking lots that dip

and twist. Then, Dan Tafoya, our Linder sales representative, brought us a Komatsu D39 with IMC. I got on it, hit the button and put the parking lot to grade in one pass. From that point, I was sold. That machine never left, and we’ve added more ever since.”

“With GPS, the operator gets on the job, fires the machine up and goes straight to work,” added Ron. “You’re not waiting on a surveyor to set stakes. You’re not pulling tape and guessing. You can even use the dozer to set your own offset stakes if you want. It cuts hours, and sometimes days, out of start-up on a site and takes a lot of human error out of it.”

The IMC excavators have also helped crews with trenching water, getting sewer and storm lines to precise depth and slope, cutting building pads, digging ponds, and shaping complex lake banks with changing slopes. The IMC system prevents over-digging and shows operators exactly where finished grade needs to be, even when they’re digging into water.

“Before, laying pipe meant a guy 8 feet down in a trench with a grade stick yelling up to the operator,” explained R.J. “Now, the GPS knows finished elevation. It’s safer and faster, and you’re not fixing sags later because somebody went an inch too deep.”

That precision matters even more in Florida, where water is always part of the job. When crews dig retention lakes with multiple slope breaks, they can dial in changing ratios without sending someone into a wet cut. The machine holds those slopes in real time.

“The GPS lets a 21-year-old run like a 30-year veteran,” emphasized Tommy Buchmeyer, Vice President of Field Operations. “These younger guys grew up with a controller in their hands. They understand screens and menus.

You put them in a Komatsu IMC machine, show them the model, and they can cut a lake bottom or trench a main within tolerance the first week. That bridges the gap because the old-school finish operators are aging out, and the industry hasn’t replaced that experience.”

Support also shows up in training. As machines get smarter, such as the new PC220LCi-12 IMC 3.0 excavator, Linder has helped educate operators, so the company can get full value from the technology instead of starting over with each new hand in the seat.

“It has more capability than the PC210LCi-11 with a bigger cab, joystick track control — so you’re not fighting pedals — full 360-degree cameras, swing sensors and even a geofenced safety system that locks you out if something’s in your radius,” described Tommy Buchmeyer. “Whenever we need help, Linder comes right away.”

Keeping the legacy alive

Looking ahead, Tommy Hawkins & Sons plans to keep serving its middle-market niche sites and eventually hand the business off to the next generation.

Next-generation jobsites at CONEXPO-CON/AGG Technology and automation led the conversations as 140,000-plus attendees met at North America’s largest construction trade show

he global construction industry gathered in force in Las Vegas as CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 brought more than 140,000 professionals from 128 countries together to explore the technologies, equipment and ideas shaping the future. Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and nearby festival grounds, the triennial event once again served as North America’s largest construction trade show and a central marketplace for a $2.2 trillion U.S. industry.

Spanning more than 3 million square feet of exhibit space and featuring more than 2,000 exhibitors, the event showcased equipment, digital technologies and services across every major construction segment.

Massive earthmoving machines, cranes and paving systems stood alongside connected jobsite platforms, automation solutions and sustainability-focused innovations.

Contractors, manufacturers and technology leaders gathered to evaluate equipment, forge partnerships, and conduct business that will influence projects and infrastructure development going forward.

“CONEXPO-CON/AGG is where the construction industry comes to see what’s next,” said CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show Director Dana Wuesthoff. “This week demonstrated the resilience and ingenuity of our industry.

From advanced machinery to digital tools that help crews work safer and smarter, the innovations unveiled here will shape jobsites for years to come.”

Komatsu showcases solutions

Komatsu launched and previewed a broad lineup of machines, engines and digital solutions designed to improve productivity, automation and jobsite connectivity.

“At CONEXPO, our goal is to give customers a clear sense of where Komatsu is headed — showcasing new machines, next-generation technology, and integrated solutions that will drive productivity, simplify maintenance, and shape the future of their operations,” stated Paul Moore, Vice President of Products, Marketing and Service for Komatsu North America.

Among the machines featured was the new HM460-6 articulated truck with an increased payload capacity of 46.3 tons and an overall machine weight that has been reduced by roughly 6,600 pounds compared to the HM400-5. Combined with a new nine-speed transmission, locking axles and traction control systems, the truck is designed to shorten haul cycles while lowering fuel consumption.

“We increased production, reduced the weight of the truck, and added a new engine and transmission. It all works together as a system to deliver faster cycle times and higher productivity,” explained Bruce Boebel, Director of Products and Services for Komatsu’s construction division, noting that the HM460-6 is powered by Komatsu’s new DBA127 engine, a 12.7-liter powerplant designed to simplify emissions systems while extending service intervals, including a diesel particulate filter exchange interval of up to 8,000 hours.

operator interfaces. The PC220LCi-12 intelligent machine control (IMC) model integrates new automation tools in IMC 3.0, such as swing-to-line and travel-along-line, enabling operators to maintain trench alignment and automatically reduce repetitive manual adjustments.

Komatsu also showcased its recently launched PC365LC-11 multifunction plus excavator with an electric swing system that captures and reuses energy generated during swing braking.

The system stores recovered power and redistributes it during operation, improving cycle times and fuel efficiency during demanding tasks such as truck loading and trenching.

Additional currently available machines on display included WA485-11, WA475-11, WA380-8 and WA700-8 wheel loaders, each built to deliver dependable performance and efficiency across various applications. The WA485-11, WA475-11 and WA380-8 work well in construction and quarry applications, while the larger-capacity WA700-8 is built for surface mining.

Komatsu also gave attendees a preview of machines set to launch in the near future, including a PC158USLCi-12 excavator equipped

with the latest IMC 3.0 system. The 15-ton class excavator will be the first tight-tail model in its size category to offer factory-installed IMC, bringing advanced automation features to utility, highway and urban construction work where compact machines are common.

Komatsu offered show attendees an exclusive preview of two next-generation crawler dozers engineered to advance productivity and efficiency in earthmoving applications from site development and road construction to mining. The D61PXi-25 dozer with IMC 3.0 and the D175AX-10 large production dozer represent the next phase in Komatsu’s evolution of powertrain performance, operator-centered design and integrated technology.

Alongside its machines, Komatsu emphasized digital jobsite solutions under its Smart Construction ecosystem. New tools demonstrated at the show included:

• Smart Construction Dashboard Mobile — a smartphone-based version of its jobsite visualization platform

• Smart Construction Edge — a base station for on-site drone data processing • Smart Construction Fleet Lite — ­basic payload tracking

Additionally, Komatsu spotlighted its new Smart Quarry Autonomous solution, which uses artificial intelligence, onboard computing and sensor-based perception technologies to navigate mapped haul routes with minimal setup. System configurations are determined based on site requirements and applicable commercial agreements.

Plus, Komatsu featured fleet connectivity through its My Komatsu digital platform, which integrates telematics, parts purchasing, fleet data and predictive maintenance tools into a unified portal designed to help contractors manage equipment and jobsite performance more effectively.

Other highlights included machine and racing simulators that attendees could operate, a replica of the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula 1 car that Komatsu sponsors and partners with, and a company store with Komatsu-branded apparel and accessories.

Honoring those who build

Attendees have a great time running simulators designed to give an operator’s view from the cab of a machine.

One of the CONEXPO-CON/AGG’s most visible moments came during the opening ceremony, when thousands of attendees donned bright orange safety vests for a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest gathering of people wearing high-visibility construction vests. Organizers aimed to surpass the previous record of 2,499 participants, using the moment to emphasize the construction industry’s commitment to safety and its collective impact on infrastructure, transportation networks, energy development, sports venues and civic landmarks across North America.

Workshops focused on small business growth, equipment maintenance and mentorship opportunities for women in construction, reinforcing the industry’s emphasis on workforce development.

The scale and influence of CONEXPO-CON/AGG reflect more than a century of industry evolution. The show traces its roots back to 1909, when the original Road Show in Columbus, Ohio, featured just 40 equipment

manufacturers across 40,000 square feet.

Today, the event has grown into a global platform for innovation, connecting thousands of companies and professionals shaping the future of the built environment.

ince its start as a small utility business in 1980, LEO Construction Company has remained rooted in Northern Virginia, even as its services diversified and it entered its second generation of family leadership. President and CEO Michael Rose continues to strengthen the legacy left by his father and uncles, who helped reorganize and rebuild the business in its early years. Their experience and persistence shaped the foundation that still defines LEO Construction.

“My father, Tom, started in overhead transmission and right-of-way work, then had the opportunity to become an owner at LEO Construction,” recalled Rose. “He brought in his brothers, took over as president and got the company back on its feet. I followed him into the business and learned everything I could from him.”

Today, LEO Construction focuses on underground power and communications work across Prince William, Loudoun, Stafford and Fauquier counties. It operates out of two locations, Leesburg, Va., and Bristow, Va., and has a corporate office in Aldie, Va. LEO Construction’s territory includes both public and private projects, from utility infrastructure to commercial and residential development.

“Our work is primarily dry utilities,” Rose explained. “We handle everything from erosion control and clearing to full installation and restoration. We have long-term contracts with Dominion Energy and Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative. We probably have about 40% of our people working in that field, and 60% of our staff works for general contractors in the data center side putting in the power, communications, security, streetlights and infrastructure. We also work for developers and builders, putting in their main line electrical needs in their subdivisions, and we can work on commercial buildings as well, putting the power in.”

“More than half of our workforce has been here for over 20 years,” Rose emphasized. “It’s one of the things that I think my father and his two brothers instilled, which is keeping that family feel with the company and their employees, seeking out and getting good people to work for us, and treating them well. Reliable equipment and technology

To ensure its staff can complete its range of projects efficiently, LEO Construction has an equipment fleet that includes nearly 30 Komatsu machines, from various excavators to large dozers and wheel loaders. Crews might dig a secondary line with a Komatsu PC35MR mini excavator or set 35,000-pound concrete vaults with a Komatsu PC490LC large excavator.

“The PC490 is a difference maker because we can remove the counterweight and keep transport weight under 80,000 pounds while still lifting heavy structures,” Rose remarked.

“We avoid bringing in cranes, which saves time and cost. The PC35 is on the opposite end of the spectrum and gives us the versatility to work in tighter spaces where the power isn’t needed, but reliability is still expected.”

For trench work, midsize excavators are the company’s workhorses. The Komatsu PC138USLC and PC238USLC tight tail swing excavators serve as everyday problem-solvers that swap attachments quickly.

“Our PC138 units are our Swiss Army knives because they move from auger to hammer to tamper in minutes with quick couplers and monitor presets,” commented Fleet Manager Frank Thyson. “Even newer operators can make those changes fast and keep production moving.”

When a project hits rock, LEO Construction relies on an NPK GH15 hydraulic hammer.

“The NPK hammer is reliable, and we can move it from the 360 down to the 138s,” Rose stated.

LEO Construction utilizes intelligent machine control (IMC) equipment, like the Komatsu PC490LCi excavator, to keep operators on grade as a project progresses. Komatsu’s Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance, an aftermarket solution, is installed on the tight tail swing excavators.

“I check Komtrax every day because it shows exactly what we need to see, and it lets us troubleshoot before we call for service,” Thyson said. “That keeps us efficient and reduces downtime. My Komatsu puts the parts book, the trouble code tree and ordering in one place, which simplifies everything for our team. It also keeps our service intervals current and makes planning services easier.”

According to “Dampened Expectations: The 2026 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook” from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Sage, contractors are refining their strategies, focusing capital and talent on the sectors offering the strongest and most durable growth.

Rather than signaling contraction, the survey points to a maturing market in which firms are becoming more selective, disciplined and forward-looking. Concerns about inflation, interest rates and the broader economy remain top of mind. Still, many contractors see 2026 as a year to strengthen operational foundations while pursuing opportunities in high-growth segments.

Digital infrastructure and power drive momentum

The most powerful source of optimism remains data center construction. Contractors report the highest confidence in this segment, with demand fueled by artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and the rapid expansion of digital services, according to the AGC and Sage report. Independent market data shows U.S. data center construction starts increased more than 15% year over year in 2025, with hundreds of billions of dollars in future projects planned or in preconstruction, according to ConstructConnect’s outlook, “The State of the Construction Economy: What to Expect in 2026” by Johnny Bradigan.

Closely linked to this growth is power and energy infrastructure. Rising electricity demand from hyperscale data centers, grid modernization and energy resilience initiatives is translating into strong construction activity. Long-term forecasts suggest data center power demand could grow dramatically over the next decade, reinforcing confidence in sustained investment across transmission, generation and energy-related facilities, according to a report from Deloitte, “2026 Engineering and Construction Outlook.”

Steady opportunities across institutional and industrial

Beyond digital infrastructure, several core construction markets remain on solid footing.

Healthcare construction — including clinics, labs and hospitals — continues to benefit from demographic trends and modernization needs. Water and sewer infrastructure also maintains positive momentum, supported by public investment and aging systems that require upgrade, according to AGC and Sage.

Manufacturing construction shows cautious but meaningful growth potential. While higher capital costs and supply chain considerations have slowed some decisions, long-term reshoring initiatives and federal incentives continue to support industrial investment, according to ConstructConnect.

Analysts note that many owners are taking a deliberate approach, balancing cost discipline with the need to expand domestic capacity.

Infrastructure and education adjust to funding realities

Public infrastructure markets remain active but more measured. Expectations for highway, bridge and transportation construction softened compared with recent peaks, reflecting funding timing and uncertainty tied to the upcoming expiration of the federal surface transportation authorization in late 2026. Even so, industry leaders emphasize that long-term infrastructure needs remain substantial, suggesting a pipeline that may strengthen as policy clarity improves, AGC reports.

These investments are helping firms offset labor shortages, protect margins and improve project delivery, positioning the industry for stronger performance as broader economic conditions stabilize.

The business traces its roots to 1986, but under Kyle’s ownership, it has entered a period of rapid growth centered on technology, relationships and a broader project mix.

“Since I’ve taken over the business, we’ve focused on being a complete site development company,” said Kyle. “Since then, we have grown from roughly 15 employees to nearly 50 and diversified the type of work we do. The key has been putting the right people in place and trusting them to do what they are good at. That has allowed us to grow without losing control.”

A Lakeland native, Kyle worked for general contractors before spending more than 10 years as a land development manager for a local homebuilder. He also spent six months working at Roggen Enterprises before purchasing the business to make sure it was the right opportunity.

“I was on the other side for years hiring sitework contractors, and that is really where my love for this business came from,” Kyle shared. “I learned what owners and developers are looking for, and I learned how important it is to think ahead.”

Today, Roggen Clyne Development performs a wide variety of work, taking on private and public projects that range from commercial developments and school jobs to roadway improvements and agricultural work. The company’s ability to stay flexible has helped it build a strong backlog across Central Florida, typically within a 50- to 75-mile radius of its Lakeland headquarters.

“There is plenty of work right here in Lakeland, Polk County and Central Florida, so we do not feel like we need to relocate or push too far outside our footprint,” Kyle noted. “We try to stay in the private market but will take on bid work when it makes sense. We like projects where we can bring value and build long-term relationships.”

The company handles clearing, grading and site preparation, and Kyle said its strongest niche has long been base work, especially on parking lots and other commercial projects. As the company has pursued larger dirt jobs, equipment has played a bigger role in its growth strategy, so Roggen Clyne Development has added Komatsu dozers, wheel loaders and excavators as well as BOMAG compaction equipment through Linder Industrial Machinery Company.

“We started with the intelligent dozers, and that is when we started to see a return on our investment with the technology," Kyle reported. “From there, we added loaders, then excavators, and we have kept cycling out older machines that were past their prime. The maintenance costs on our older fleet alone made it clear that we needed to modernize.”

“You can sit at your desk and see what a machine has done today, where it is, how long it has idled and when it needs service,” described Kyle. “For a company like ours that is constantly moving, that information is extremely valuable. It helps us manage the fleet in a much more efficient way.”

Three generations strong Odell Smith & Sons Inc. continues to expand its reach by delivering dependable sitework, utility installation and pad-ready projects in North Carolina

dell Smith & Sons Inc. has spent decades building a reputation that comes from quality work and strong relationships.

“We started in plumbing and septic work, and over time, we moved deeper into utilities, grading and site development,” said owner-operator Ken Smith. “As the market changed, we knew we had to take on more of the overall project to stay competitive.”

Ken, who is the second generation of Smiths to run the company, joined the business in 1979, building on the foundation his father started in the early 1960s.

“I didn’t go to college because I already knew what I wanted to do,” Ken shared. “I grew up around equipment, and diesel fuel was just in my blood. We started with smaller work and smaller machines, and as the company grew, the work and the iron got bigger too.”

Today, Odell Smith & Sons focuses on subdivisions, commercial sites, utility installation and select government work across Harnett, Cumberland, Hoke and Moore counties, usually staying within about 100 miles of its offices in Spring Lake, N.C. “A typical project for us starts with clearing and grading, then we move into roads, lot pads and utilities,” explained Vice President and Project Manager Alden Smith, who represents the third generation of the family business. “After that, we bring our fine grade crew back in, and get the site ready for curb, stone and asphalt. We sub out some of that finishing work, but we still manage it closely, so the final quality meets our standard.”

Currently, the company is moving about 3,000 to 3,500 yards of material a day at Caelin Farms, a 72-lot subdivision that covers 28 acres and requires approximately 60,000 yards of cut and fill. The project will also include a retention pond and the installation of sewer, storm and water infrastructure.

To complete its various projects, the company has 18 in-house employees and supplements them with subcontract labor as needed.

“We choose to grow with our people and hire when we find the right fit,” Alden remarked.

“That’s important to us because we want to maintain the quality of the work and the culture of the company. We’ve been fortunate to find people who want to grow with us and take pride in what they build.”

Embracing technology

In addition to its staff, a major part of Odell Smith & Sons’ productivity comes from its equipment.

The business runs about 30 machines total, with Komatsu excavators making up nearly all of its excavator lineup, and Komatsu dozers and wheel loaders handling key roles on grading and utility crews.

“We started buying Komatsu machines early on, and we kept coming back because we trusted the product,” Ken reflected. “Over the years, the equipment has proven itself, and the support behind it has stayed strong.”

On the utility side, Komatsu excavators such as the PC360LC, PC300LC and PC240LC have become core tools. According to Alden, the excavators deliver the speed, breakout force and reach needed for deep utility work, especially when crews are cutting 20- to 22-foot trenches.

“The excavators are efficient for the kind of utility work we do,” Alden commented. “With the longer stick and extra reach, we can make a more efficient stroke and avoid some of the extra benching or box stacking that slows production down.”

To handle more complex pond work, Odell Smith & Sons added a Komatsu PC290LCi-11 intelligent machine control (IMC) excavator, which gave crews the ability to maintain demanding tolerances and reduce the amount of follow-up grading required from dozers. The technology incorporated in Komatsu’s IMC machines also allows operators to work directly from digital plans in the cab, further improving productivity and precision.

“We’re really trying to put the plans in front of our operators instead of making them depend on constant staking and checking,” Alden said. “That’s been one of the biggest changes in the last five to 10 years. Komatsu’s integrated GPS technology helps us work smarter, hold tighter tolerances and keep jobs moving with fewer delays.”

Operator Thomas Frazer added, “I like being able to see exactly where I’m at on the screen of the PC290LCi-11. I can see the curb line, my depth and where I need to stop, so I’m not guessing.”

Odell Smith & Sons also recently acquired a Komatsu D51PXi-24 IMC dozer. Collin Howard, a foreman and operator, said it has quickly become a go-to machine because of its versatility.

“It has the power to cut through tough material, and it has the finesse to fine grade lots,” described Collin.

“It can strip topsoil, cut roads, shape slopes, and then turn right around and do finish work on the same job.”

Collin also pointed to the dozer’s cab-forward design and visibility as important advantages.

“You can see all the way down to the cutting edge, and that changes a lot when you’re grading,” Collin noted. “You feel the blade sooner, you can react quicker, and you can work safer because you see more of what’s around you.”

“The WA270 wheel loaders are strong machines, and they’re very comfortable to operate,” Ken said. “You don’t get all the rattling and noise you hear in some other equipment.”

Odell Smith & Sons’ equipment decisions are closely tied to its long relationship with Linder Industrial Machinery Company, which dates back to the late 1980s. Odell Smith & Sons first connected with Komatsu through Mitchell Distributing Company (which was acquired by Linder in 2003) and began building trust with the people behind the equipment.

“In this business, you have to trust who you are dealing with,” Ken emphasized. “That’s what kept us with Komatsu and carried over into our relationship with Linder.”

That support continues today through sales representative Owen Smith and product support representative (PSR) Brandon Ray. “The support has been great across the board,” Alden declared. “Owen has always been available, and Brandon’s been right there too when we need help with a code or a question in the field. They always check in with us, and that goes a long way. We’re lucky to have those two.”

Odell Smith & Sons also values the chance to demo machines before making a purchase. That hands-on process helped the company compare multiple dozers side by side before selecting the Komatsu D51PXi-24 IMC dozer.

“Being able to operate something before you spend any money is a blessing, and Linder and Komatsu have always been really good about meeting our needs,” said Alden. “We demoed three dozers, and all three of us who ran the dozers came to the same conclusion. The Komatsu D51PXi-24 had the superior power, visibility and grade control. When we clicked on the automatics it was flawless. Everything was within five-hundredths. We just were extremely impressed with that, the efficiency of the machine, and how much material we could move within a day.”

Continued consistency

Looking ahead, Odell Smith & Sons expects steady work to continue in residential development, smaller commercial work, municipal projects and emerging multifamily construction. Even as the pipeline grows, the company says its priorities will remain the same.

“My dad brings decades of experience, and I bring energy and technology, and that mix helps us value engineer projects without cutting corners. At the end of the day, we want to hand over a site we’re proud to put our name on.”

For Ken, that standard is still the simplest measure of success. The company wants to build jobs that last, represent its people well and strengthen the communities where it works.

Demo Days Komatsu showcases more than 40 pieces of equipment and technology solutions at its Cartersville Customer Center

aining actionable insights into how equipment and technology provide value can benefit your operation.

The ability to experience a machine from the operator’s seat adds value. Komatsu gave attendees the opportunity to do both during its most recent Demo Days at its Cartersville Customer Center in Georgia.

More than 40 products were available across the 38-acre demo site for customers to see up close and operate. The equipment ranged from compact excavators to large construction, forestry, demolition and mining

machines, as well as forklifts and a reclaim feeder. Representatives from Komatsu and its affiliates, including Montabert, Hensley Industries and Lehnhoff, provided insights on how to effectively integrate the equipment and attachments into attendees’ operations.

Komatsu Smart Construction and Smart Quarry representatives had displays set up to provide information on solutions available for jobsite management, such as Smart Construction Remote, Office, Field and Drone, as well as Smart Quarry Site and Smart Quarry Study. New machines stand out

Among the standout machines available to operate were Komatsu’s new standard PC220LC-12 excavator and its PC220LCi-12 intelligent machine control (IMC) 3.0 model, which features automation such as auto grade assist, auto stop control, bucket angle hold, compaction control, auto swing, and payload monitoring. The PC220LCi-12 also has 3D boundary control, which helps operators work efficiently across the entire jobsite by remembering multiple restriction zones specific to each work area. It is the first OEM factory-integrated feature of its kind in the construction industry. Auto swing with travel stop functionality is also an industry first for excavators.

The 21- to 24-ton-class PC220LC excavators have been engineered to empower operators and improve jobsite productivity. They feature a 28% larger cab with 30% more legroom versus the previous model, as well as improved visibility, reduced noise and vibration, and a high-quality, heated air-suspension seat.

The new 8-inch HD monitor puts machine data, controls and customization options at the operator’s fingertips.

A new electronically controlled hydraulic system and high-output engine help deliver up to an 8% increase in digging force, up to 7% more lift capacity and up to a 20% reduction in fuel costs compared to the previous Komatsu PC210LC-11 model. The new P plus mode is designed to boost workload productivity by up to 18%.

“The PC220LC was built from the operator out and is the most advanced excavator Komatsu has ever built,” stated Matt Moen, Product Manager, Komatsu. “Our goal was to have the machine and operator working together. The larger cab with more glass and better visibility, along with an upgraded seat, increases comfort.

It has electric-over-hydraulic controls, a new touch-panel monitor that enables extensive individual customization for each operator and much more. In the near future, we will add additional automation features such as swing-to-line and travel-along-line.”

relaunched PC365LC-11 (formerly HB365LC-3) hybrid excavator that includes multifunction plus. It combines a new look with the same proven technology that captures energy during swing and stores it in the ultracapacitor.

When swinging, all available hydraulic power is sent to the boom, arm and bucket to improve cycle time, reduce fuel consumption and increase production. Komatsu equipped the PC365LC-11 with its Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance solution, which brings 3D to most conventional excavators. This gives operators in the field and managers in the office access to design and topographic data, helping drive accuracy, control load volumes and promote optimization.

Komatsu also spotlighted its new WA475-11 and WA485-11 wheel loaders, which deliver lower fuel consumption, higher engine power and greater climbing speed compared to previous models. Both have a Komatsu Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission (KHMT) engineered for improved fuel efficiency and

productivity, as well as large, comfortable cabs that help reduce fatigue.

Smart Construction and other demonstrations

Komatsu demonstrated its Smart Construction Drone solution, which provides accurate jobsite topography safely, quickly and easily.

“The ability to fly and map a jobsite and send that data back to the office or field personnel digitally expedites the time it takes to evaluate the condition or the state of the project,” noted Earing. “Being able to track that in near-real time helps you make faster production and efficiency decisions regarding scheduling, resources and more. The data can easily be moved into other solutions, such as Dashboard.”

Demonstrations were also available for Komatsu’s FH120 forklift, RF-5 reclaim feeder and PC490HRD-11 high-reach demolition excavator equipped with the K100 boom change system that allows for hands-free boom changes from the cab of the machine.

“This is always such a great event for customers, their dealers and for us, and we really enjoy being able to provide educational and operational opportunities,” concluded Earing. “This Demo Days was a little rainy and chilly, but that didn’t seem to deter anyone from putting the machines to the test, which we like to see.” ■

has steadily grown into a major precast

manufacturing operation with 18 plants across the United States. In 2023, Foley Products acquired its Fort Myers, Fla., facility to provide sanitary and storm precast structures for the region. Most recently, Commercial Metals Company (CMC) purchased Foley Products in 2025, so it now falls under CMC’s umbrella of businesses that provide technologies and products for the global construction sector.

“Foley Products and CMC have been around a long time, and that experience matters in this business,” said Shawn Maddox, Operations Manager of Southwest Florida for Foley Products, who has been in the precast industry for about 20 years. “Becoming part of CMC

At its Fort Myers facility, Foley Products manufactures sanitary and storm precast structures used in commercial, residential and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects. The 35-acre facility mainly serves underground contractors working within a threeto four-hour radius of Lee County. The Fort Myers plant employs about 25 people, and Maddox said the workforce is one of the operation’s biggest strengths.

“We deal with challenges when they come, but I don’t see major problems because our people have the experience to handle them.”

“This is a good group of guys, and that’s what makes this place work,” Maddox stated. “We deal with challenges when they come, but I don’t see major problems because our people have the experience to handle them.”

In addition to producing standard FDOT-certified products, Foley Products also offers specialty solutions such as StormPrism, which is a novel precast concrete underground stormwater detention system that provides excellent storage efficiency for a wide range of applications.

“StormPrism helps set Foley apart from other companies,” Maddox explained. “Instead of dedicating surface area to a retention pond, you can put that system underground and use the land above it for parking or buildings. In a place like Florida, where real estate is at a premium, that’s a big advantage.”

Adding Konecranes forklift

To help manage and move products around the facility, Foley Products relies on its fleet of material handling equipment. One of the key machines on-site is a Konecranes SMV 16-1200 C forklift, a 36,000-pound unit purchased through Linder Industrial Machinery Company in 2024.

“The Konecranes SMV 16-1200 C has done everything well for us,” Maddox reported.

“The machine runs all day. We’re firing it up around 6 in the morning, and it stays busy until the day is done. It handles product movement, yard storage and truck loading, so it’s involved in just about everything we ship.”

Safety and visibility are two of the machine’s biggest benefits. The custom boom allows the team to lift higher, while features such as strong lighting and a backup camera improve awareness around the yard.

“Linder worked with us to build the yellow boom on it, which gives us the lifting setup we wanted,” Maddox shared. “It has more lift height and flexibility than the standard forklift configuration, and it allows us to be extremely safe. The setup on the boom gives us confidence in how we handle product, and the visibility around the machine is a real plus. In a yard like this, those safety features matter every hour of the day.”

From the operator’s perspective, Production Manager David Meadows said the machine stands out because of the technology built into it.

“There’s a lot of technology on this machine that we never had before,” Meadows commented. “The monitor shows your load percentage, the visibility is very good, and the backup view helps with spots you can’t see from the seat. The joystick is a big improvement too, because you keep everything in your hand and keep your eyes where they need to be.”

The machine also helps improve operator comfort. Meadows noted that the Konecranes SMV 16-1200 C is the first large forklift at the plant with an air-ride seat and pneumatic tires, both of which help on uneven ground. An air-conditioned cab adds another layer of comfort for operators working all day in the Florida heat.

“Honestly, it’s amazing to run,” Meadows declared. “When you’re in a machine that much, those details help keep operators comfortable and focused.”

Maddox also credited Linder sales representative Heath Draper and Linder PSSR Joe DeOreo for their parts in growing the relationship between Foley Products and Linder.

Improving mat quality BOMAG updates CR 1030 highway-class pavers with new controls, compatibility with Versa 20 front-mount screed for paving widths of 10 to 19 feet

OMAG recently rolled out significant

design updates to its highway-class

CR 1030 Series track pavers, pairing enhanced machine controls with the debut of the new Versa 20 front-mount electric screed. The updates are aimed at improving operating efficiency, increasing mat quality and reducing material segregation on large-scale paving projects.

The 10-foot, 225-horsepower CR 1030 Series paver features a redesigned human-machine interface (HMI) that simplifies operation and improves jobsite productivity. Functions are now grouped by task on the tractor console, allowing operators to quickly locate hopper, screed and material feed controls. Each console is equipped with a 7-inch multifunction color display with configurable screens to suit individual preferences and changing work conditions.

To ensure usability in all environments, BOMAG designed the system with both touchscreen and remote dial controls, making it easier to adjust settings while wearing gloves or working in dusty conditions. Integrated fault-code visibility provides real-time feedback on machine performance, helping crews identify and address issues on the jobsite and reduce unplanned downtime.

Independent auger/conveyor system

Another major update is the independent auger and conveyor system, which allows the two components to operate separately. Using a proven outboard auger drive design, the system improves visibility into the conveyor discharge area and helps minimize segregation, contributing to a smoother, more uniform mat.

The design is available with two or four sensors and builds on technology previously used in BOMAG’s CR Remix pavers.

Operator visibility into the 14-ton hopper is enhanced by a sloped hood design, while legacy BOMAG features such as the SMARTRAC automatic track-tension system and optional FRAME RAISE with fixed augers remain part of the platform. The company’s SIDEVIEW system allows the seats and consoles to swivel outward for clear views of the screed and paver edges.

The new Versa 20 front-mount electric screed offers paving widths from 10 to 19 feet, with bolt-on extensions expanding coverage up to 23 feet. Designed for durability and consistency, it incorporates hydraulic crown adjustment, deep extensions for improved density, and integrated automation capabilities for precise control across the full paving width. ■

old-fashioned way with one machine, one job and one hard-earned opportunity at a time. What began as B&B Rental in 1981 has evolved into a site development company that now handles major infrastructure and commercial work across its home region in South Florida.

“I started with a prayer and a little bulldozer that had a three-speed transmission,” Phil recalled. “We didn’t have much, and we bought what we could afford just to get going. It wasn’t fancy, but it gave us a way in.”

After early work in equipment rental and septic systems, B&B expanded into house pads, clearing, earthwork and utility installation as demand grew in and around Okeechobee, Fla. “Customers began asking us to build house pads, and then to build them faster and

handle more of the workload, and that kind of snowballed for us,” Phil shared. “We just kept adding what we needed, so we could do more work, and do it better. Now, we love technical work. There aren’t a lot of contractors in this area, and we’ve been a resource for much of the development here. We enjoy being able to have an impact on our community. In every spot in this little town, by the grace of God, I’ve done something. I’ve either developed it, repaired it, fixed it, or demolished it and rebuilt it. So, I’m proud to be in Okeechobee County and very blessed to know that God is the reason we are where we are.”

Over the years, B&B has expanded into a sizable operation with 88 employees.

Second-generation co-owner Brent Baughman, Phil’s son, has been an important factor in helping his family’s legacy grow.

“Brent has spent time learning every role,” Phil said proudly. “Now, he can estimate, build, run and manage a project from start to finish. He’s way ahead of where I was at his age. He’s my right-hand man. I couldn’t do what I’m doing without him.”

Building Lakefront with Komatsu

Currently, B&B is performing infrastructure work at Lakefront, a 567-acre development designed to support a growing residential community in Glades County.

“They brought us in for an entrance, then a pond, then more and more infrastructure,” explained Brent. “We kept doing what we said we would do, and that trust kept building. Now, we’re helping shape the whole site.”

The project includes seven lakes, more than 1,000 house pads, roadways, sewer, water, electric and other underground utilities for a community that is expected to exceed 1,300 units at full buildout. For B&B, it is the kind of long-term, high-visibility job that reflects both its capacity and its reputation.

“We’ve taken this one personally,” Phil declared.

“It’s not just another project to us. Years from now, we want to be able to say we built something that mattered here. There’s pride in that.”

company needs to stay productive. While Phil has used a wide range of brands over the years, one early Komatsu excavator changed his expectations for what a machine should do.

“I rented a Komatsu 220 in 1992, fell in love with it and bought one, then did a whole site with it,” Phil remembered. “That whole time, it never broke down. That machine lasted 25,000 hours. After that, I started replacing other stuff with Komatsu because I finally saw how it was supposed to work.”

Today, B&B’s fleet of Komatsu equipment includes PC490LC, PC360LC, PC138USLC and PC88MR excavators; HM300 and HM400 haul trucks; and D51PXi and D39PXi intelligent machine control (IMC) dozers. The machines are spread across multiple jobs, with the largest concentration at Lakefront, where production demands are high and consistency matters.

“We love having Komatsu equipment because it makes our job a lot easier,” Brent stated. “The machines run hard and keep running. On a project this big, efficiency matters every day.

If the equipment is dependable, the whole job moves better.”

At Lakefront, the Komatsu equipment is doing more than moving dirt. B&B is excavating lakes, building road base from on-site material, and creating finished grades on a site where usable aggregate, stabilizer and fill can all be sourced internally. That material advantage creates major savings, but only if the machines can produce without interruption.

“One of our PC360 excavators has around 10,000 hours and still works like it should,”

Phil reported. “The other one has about 15,000 hours and works just as hard. They lift well, and they’re fuel-efficient.”

Brent added, “The IMC dozers have helped us work more efficiently, and we wouldn’t be able to take on a project of this scale without them.

Because we’re moving so much material around the job, the dozer lets you know where grade is and makes sure you’re putting the fill material back to grade as you go. It takes out a lot of the guesswork.”

Linder provides support

B&B’s relationship with Linder Industrial Machinery Company is a central part of its commitment to Komatsu equipment. Phil and Brent value the response time and follow-through that come from working with a distributor that understands urgency in the field.

“The quickness Linder shows when something is down means a lot to us,” Brent emphasized.

“Sometimes they’re here that day or the next day, and that kind of support matters when time is money.”

Sales representative Dan Tafoya has been especially important in keeping B&B productive and confident in its purchasing decisions. The reliability he provides has influenced B&B’s decision to stay with Linder and continue investing in Komatsu equipment as the company grows.

“Dan has been very instrumental in maintaining my relationship with Komatsu,” Phil commented.

For Phil, the long view is about more than revenue or equipment counts. It is about creating a business that can support the next generation with fewer sleepless nights and more room for family, while still honoring the grit that built it.

“I want Brent to be able to say that he and his dad built something great,” Phil concluded. “I want it to be strong enough that we can handle whatever comes at us, and the only way to do that is to always give our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the glory for all He has given us. SMH Group at CONEXPO-CON/AGG

t CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, North America’s largest construction Trade show, SMH Group highlighted its Atlas and Mantsinen equipment lines. Its display featured Atlas 185W and 220W wheeled excavators, an Atlas 195LC crawler material handler, an Atlas 250MH material handler, and a Mantsinen 60 material handler, along with technology and support resources designed to help customers get more from each machine. SMH Group also set up a Mantsinen simulator to give attendees a hands-on look at the operator experience.

“The Atlas and Mantsinen lines have the ability to support industries where they haven’t been traditionally used,” said Tim Hyland, Vice President, SMH Group. “While we have a great presence in the scrap and port markets, we also see real opportunities for them in municipal work, roadbuilding, waste transfer, forestry and demolition work. The equipment can be factory-specced to match their type of work.”

Municipal and roadbuilding

The Atlas 185W and 220W wheeled excavators are strong fits for municipal and roadbuilding contractors that need mobility, reach and flexibility for work in traffic, around utilities and in confined environments. In urban and suburban areas where infrastructure work often happens in narrow corridors, these machines can help improve productivity while also supporting operator safety.

“We specced our wheeled excavators for the show with municipalities and road contractors top of mind,” stated Todd Dohnal, Regional Sales Manager, SMH Group. “These are machines for crews working in active environments where they need to move fast, handle multiple tasks and minimize how often the operator has to leave the cab. That is why features like the oil quick-change system are so important. We also outfitted them with a hydraulically adjustable boom-and-stick combination designed specifically for roadwork and municipal applications, especially in the Northeast corridor.”

The Atlas wheeled excavators also feature a unique front-end design. Mark Dublin, SMH Group Regional Sales Manager, noted that the configuration allows operators to dig and work much closer to the front of the machine without limiting out, which is valuable in tight roadside work, street reconstruction and utility projects where positioning matters.

Scrap and waste transfer

While the Atlas 195LC crawler material handler was brought to the show as a waste transfer machine, SMH Group also sees it as a fit for demolition-related work where customers need durability and production from a conventional crawler platform.

“The Atlas 195LC is a practical machine for customers in waste transfer or demolition because it gives them a stable undercarriage, dependable lifting performance and a layout that fits tough, repetitive work,” Hyland explained.

For companies moving scrap, feeding shredders, sorting material and loading tri-axle trucks, the Atlas 250MH material handler offers a purpose-built solution – including a raised cab to increase visibility – that differs from a standard excavator. Rather than adapting a construction machine to a material-handling role, the Atlas 250MH is designed specifically for that kind of production work.

Mantsinen material handling technology

In the scrap industry, Mantsinen 60 material handlers have the durability and power to handle heavy scrap loads with ease.

They provide dependable production for feeding shredders or loading bulk material for transportation.

On the port and bulk-handling side, the Mantsinen 60 material handler emphasizes efficiency, serviceability, technology and operator comfort. Whether working at inland river terminals or coastal ports, the machine is designed to move cargo efficiently while also giving owners and operators a machine that can be configured around their operation.

“The Mantsinen material handler was designed to be operator-friendly, easy to maintain and easy to adapt to different environments,” described Dohnal. “The product range includes everything from diesel to electric to rail-mounted, gantry, pylon and dual-power configurations. That flexibility allows customers to match the machine to the application instead of compromising with a one-size-fits-all setup.”

Mantsinen Sales & Application Manager Jukka Jokinen highlighted that the material handler can be sold dual-powered, giving operators the option to run on diesel or electric power.

As port and industrial regulators evaluate environmental impact, dual-power equipment allows companies to pursue electrification without sacrificing diesel power when needed.

Mantsinen machines are also built with a strong emphasis on durability, visibility and service access. Features such as advanced guarding, an ergonomic cab design and easily accessible service hatches help simplify maintenance and increase uptime.

“Mantsinen is focused on attention to detail,” Dublin said. “These machines were designed by people who understand material handling. They have large cab interiors, metal guarding to protect against falling material, joystick controls, and service layouts that let technicians walk up and into the machine on most models to access major components more easily.”

At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, SMH Group displays an Atlas 250MH material handler, which is specifically designed for handling, sorting and loading material.

Increased support

SMH Group recognizes that support is just as important as the machine and recently opened a new location in North Carolina to better serve customers.

“Our new Charlotte facility with a 22,000-square-foot parts availability and millions in inventory, has increased our ability to provide first-class support to our customers,” declared Dohnal.

Hyland concluded, “We feel very good about where these machines fit in the market right now. There is a lot of opportunity in front of us because the products address real needs in real applications. “I grew up in Florida, so I always had an interest in anything water-based and a passion for taking care of our planet,” shared Alex. “This industry is unique and niche, and it allows me to be outdoors while also serving a purpose. We get to help maintain these ponds in an environmentally responsible way.”

Alex, who earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University, chose to enter the same industry that shaped his father’s career.

“We service everybody, and we treat all our clients the same,” said Alex. “Our largest community has 57 miles of shoreline and hundreds of acres of wetlands. We’re proud to work in some of the premier communities in the state and provide a very high level of service.”

“We started from the ground up with no outside financing — just the two of us building relationships and going after clients,” recalled Alex. “Since then, we’ve grown into a very successful business. We’re excited by how fast we’ve been able to scale while still providing a high level of service.”

Premier Lakes now works across much of South Florida, ranging from Naples to Tampa on the western side and from Boca Raton to Vero Beach on the eastern side, while also serving parts of Central Florida, including the Orlando market.

Its customer base ranges from single-family homeowners to large HOA and CDD communities, including premier golf course properties and expansive wetland systems.

To efficiently handle each task, Premier Lakes recently hired its 30th employee. Alex believes the quality of the field team is what clients notice most.

That gives clients confidence that the person maintaining their property really knows what they’re doing.”

Premier Lakes equips its Kubota RTV-X utility vehicle with a custom spray rig designed in-house that features a 100-gallon setup with a 70-30 baffle split, so crews can carry separate mixes at the same time.

That philosophy carries directly into equipment decisions. Premier Lakes has built a fleet around Kubota RTV-X utility vehicles, using them as mobile platforms for custom spray rigs. The company recently added its 21st RTV-X and expects to continue expanding the fleet as demand grows.

“The Kubota RTV-X series has really been a game changer for us,” declared Alex. “It’s more rugged and capable than systems we used in the past, and it has allowed us to get into areas we typically couldn’t. That efficiency has helped us achieve more than we thought was possible from our vehicles.”

The Kubota RTV-X utility vehicles play a central role in daily operations because they allow technicians to move quickly from pond to pond without the delays that come with launching a boat at every stop. On steep or uneven embankments, that mobility becomes even more important, especially when crews are working around new construction, muddy access points or washed-out shorelines.

“Previous equipment might have gotten stuck or slid out in those conditions,” remarked Alex. “With this system, especially the hydraulic transmission, we’ve been able to get through a lot of places where other equipment would have failed. That saves time, and time matters in every part of our business.”

Senior Aquatic Technician Mitchell Hartwig sees those benefits in the field every day. With about a decade of experience in the industry, Mitchell handles algae, invasive weeds, shoreline growth and general pond conditions across multiple properties.

He added that the RTV-X stands out because it gives operators comfort and confidence on the kind of terrain the job demands.

“It’s a unique design for our industry,” noted Alex.

“We can operate an algaecide and a grass mix at the same time, which helps us stay efficient.

At the end of the day, everybody is spraying herbicides, but we want to do it in the most efficient manner possible.”

The equipment strategy also supports Premier Lakes’ environmental goals. While herbicides and algaecides remain part of the work, Alex said the company actively searches for ways to reduce chemical use through dyes, bacteria and other nonchemical treatments that improve water quality over time.

“We want to be environmentally friendly and reduce our footprint where we can, so we’re trying to be proactive and use less herbicide,” emphasized Alex.

Premier Lakes pairs its equipment investment with strong distributor support from Linder Turf & Tractor. The relationship started at a critical time, when supply chain issues still affected equipment availability after COVID-19.

Leading Linder’s technical support team Daniel Jamieson brings decades of heavy equipment experience to his new role, ensuring staff has the resources needed to support customers

Company’s general manager of technical services in August 2025, bringing more than two decades of heavy equipment experience to the position.

Based out of Concord, N.C., he oversees the teams responsible for technical training and higher-level service support across the company.

That problem-solving approach also shapes how Jamieson leads.

“I try to make sure my team has the tools and resources they need to do their job,” Jamieson said. “I support my team, so they can do what they need to do to get the customer back up as quick as possible. We want diagnostics and solutions, not just throwing parts at a problem.”

Life outside of work

When Jamieson isn’t working, he spends most of his time with his wife, Megan, and their two daughters, Caroline and Ellie.

He also has a passion for cars, hunting and fishing.

“I have an old ’66 Caprice I’m building now, and I’ve kind of always been around lifted trucks or making hot rods out of cars,” Jamieson shared. “It’s great having a job where I can balance family life and work without compromising either.” ■

Jamieson’s background in heavy equipment dates back to 2003, where he started out as a technician and built experience through service, field and management roles. Before joining Linder, he spent several years with BOMAG, transitioning from product support engineering into technical services leadership and a regional product support role.

Problem-solving

Now, with several months of experience in his current position, Jamieson noted that his day-to-day is fairly consistent, while the problems his team handles are always different.

“When our local technicians run into an issue or need info they can’t find on their own, that’s when my team comes in,” Jamieson explained. “We try to work remote first, and if we need to go on-site, we’ll jump in a truck and take off. Our team is there to support our

Family at work The Wheelis family has built careers across multiple departments while staying connected at Linder

branch is more than a workplace. It is where Jason Wheelis has spent two decades of his career, and where his two children have begun building their own paths. Today, the three share an experience that Jason never expected when he started at Linder in 2006.

“What’s kept me here is the people,” Jason said. “I’ve always gotten along with everybody, and that makes a big difference.

I wouldn’t have told my kids to work here if I didn’t enjoy it. Now, I get to see them every day and appreciate the extra time together.”

Opportunity to grow

Although each family member works in a different department, they have all found opportunities that complement their strengths. Jason started out in the warehouse before moving to the parts counter and eventually returning to the warehouse. His son, Christian, joined in 2017 after high school, while his daughter, Ciara, came on board in April 2025 in the corporate office.

“It was a good opportunity, and I already knew from my dad that Linder was a good place to work,” Christian commented. “I started in the warehouse before moving to the parts counter. There’s a lot of opportunity to grow and take on new roles. After being

here almost 10 years, I can see why my dad has been here twice as long.”

As a service support administrator, Ciara entered the industry with no machinery background but quickly found herself learning something new every day. Typically, she helps add machines, solve issues and direct requests to the right departments.

“My dad definitely influenced me, but I also saw that there was room to grow here,” Ciara shared.

“Everybody has been very friendly, and I’ve learned a lot in a short time. I come in, see my dad in the morning, talk to him at lunch and get to spend time with my brother too, so it’s been really enjoyable. I like the work I do and getting to see my family every day is a bonus.”

“There’s nothing better than working with family,” Christian added. “We see each other here, we see each other on the weekends, and we still enjoy it. It’s different, and we’re having fun doing it.”

My Komatsu Parts 360 New enhancements streamline ordering in a few simple steps for efficient fleet service planning

K

omatsu continues to enhance the digital ownership experience for equipment users through My Komatsu, its comprehensive online central portal designed to make fleet management and parts ordering easier than ever. A key initiative was recently launched to improve ordering on My Komatsu, called “Parts 360.” The goal was to roll out an end-to-end solution that simplifies everything from identifying the right component to tracking delivery.

According to Michael Carranza, Komatsu’s Senior Manager of Digital Experience, Parts 360 was embarked on with a clear mission: “We wanted to take care of the customer from looking up the part to delivery at their jobsite.”

Carranza explained that every stage of the process is designed with efficiency and flexibility in mind, giving customers the power to choose what works best for their workflow — whether that means picking up items at a local dealership or having Komatsu ship them directly to a jobsite.

The Parts 360 enhancements deliver a streamlined, intuitive shopping experience that removes guesswork and reduces downtime.

Through My Komatsu, users can easily search for the correct components by selecting their machine’s model and serial number or by browsing categories, products and parts. If a customer doesn’t know the specific name of a part, Carranza noted that they can “look at pictures and diagrams of their machines to find out what the part number is and what it’s called.”

Once parts are added to the cart, users gain immediate access to critical information, including

inventory levels, lead times and branch availability, as well as any current promotions.

“It’s all at their fingertips,” stated Carranza.

Product images give added reassurance and enhanced shopping tools — such as freight estimates and order cutoff times — help customers plan repairs with confidence, according to Carranza.

Ordering parts is now made simpler than ever: 1. Log in to your My Komatsu account via desktop or the mobile app.

2. Select a registered machine from your fleet or enter a model number.

3. Search for the needed part by keyword, category or visual diagram.

4. Add items to the shopping cart, and review availability and shipping options.

5. Choose fulfillment — pickup, jobsite delivery or a combination of both.

6. Submit payment, confirm the order, and enroll in text or email updates.

After checkout, these enhancements continue to deliver value. Customers receive real-time notifications from processing to delivery, eliminating uncertainty.

Carranza emphasized, “There’s no second guessing. You know where your order is in the process.
