Zachry Approaching Finish of Austin Highway Project

Zachry Construction has made several upgrades and improvements on the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) SH 71 East Corridor project in Greater Austin that is improving road safety and improving traffic flow. The use of interlocking articulating concrete blocks form an erosionresistant overlay, which includes a filter layer underlay that allows infiltration and exfiltration to occur while providing particle retention of the soil subgrade.

Zachry Corporation is months away from completing construction of the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) SH 71 East Corridor project in Greater Austin

that is improving road safety and improving traffic flow. SH 71 serves as a major corridor for motorists traveling to and from the AustinBergstrom International Airport, the city of Bastrop and other central Texas communities. The first phase of this project — valued at $65 million — began in February 2021 as

crews began upgrades to Ross and Kellam roads. The work zone, which spans 3 mi., covers the highway from SH 130 to Norwood Lane. The project is expected to be delivered in late spring/early summer, weather permitting. see AUSTIN page 10
