In an effort to save lives, crews are working to widen Highway 7 in Oxford, Miss. The $138.7 million project will expand the highway to four lanes from the SR 7/Belk Boulevard intersection to the intersection at County Road 370, just south of the SR 7/9 roundabout. “There are traffic accidents almost on a daily basis through this sixmile project,” Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT)

Advanced Machine Operations Simulation Technology Hopes to Get Trainees Up to Speed Sooner Simulation technology that offers would-be operators a safer approach to training on heavy equipment is now commonplace in the transportation construction sector. MIT aims to advance the machine operations simulation experience and shorten the time it takes operator trainees to get up to speed with intuitive technology and “worldspace” interface. Simulator technology has been used in heavy equipment training for many years now with dramatically positive results. By Lucy Perry
