EvoQuip Celebrates Five Years of ‘Crushing It’

EvoQuip, a compact crushing and screening brand with products that focus on simplicity, easy maintenance, fuel efficiency and ease of transport, recently celebrated five successful years in business via a virtual hour-long celebration attended by almost 100 distributors around the world.

Launched in 2016 to bring a simplified range of equipment to the crushing and screening industry, EvoQuip has grown from strength to strength to become one of the top three compact crushing and screening brands in the world.

Starting out with the Bison 35 crusher, capable of outputting up to 33 tons per hour, EvoQuip continued to introduce innovative products with the Cobra 290R now being the biggest crusher in its range, capable of outputting 320 tons.

On the screening side, EvoQuip’s products have evolved to encompass the Harrier 220, a small yet robust machine designed for recycling, composting, topsoil, landscaping and contract building industries, capable of outputting 90 tons, to the highly aggressive scalping screen Colt 1600, which was built upon the features which have made the Colt 1000 a global success.

The Colt 1600 is the largest screen in the EvoQuip range and can process up to 661 tons, depending on application.

EvoQuip’s range also has developed to include tracked mobile conveyors, high- and low-level feeders and radial stockpilers, designed to work alongside its range of crushing and screening equipment. More recently, hybrid offerings, designed to give customers alternative energy options to operate their equipment and digital solutions, such as T-Link telemetry providing customers with real-time information on the performance of their machine, have been at the forefront of EvoQuip’s evolution to address emerging industry needs.

A strong leader in the compact crushing and screening industry, EvoQuip would not be the success it is without its loyal dealers and customers. While the brand started off in 2016 with just five dealers, this has since grown to 44 dealers from around the globe. This growing distribution network alongside attendance at exhibitions such as ConExpo, bauma, World of

Concrete and Hillhead continued to strengthen the brand, showcasing its offering to global audiences.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EvoQuip had to change initial celebratory plans for this milestone from an in-person event to a virtual one. Hosted by Northern Irish actor and comedian Tim McGarry, dealers were treated to a personalized EvoQuip song, a timeline of the last five years, a live quiz where some of the team members’ knowledge was put to the test, a raffle and the first ever EvoQuip Dealer Awards.

The EvoQuip Dealer Awards included several categories such as Global Leader in Industry Growth, Customer Support and Rental Business Growth, to name a few. Among the winners were Mobile Screening and Crushing (MSC) from New Zealand who won Global Dealer of the Year. MSC is a strong dealer in all areas and engage extremely well with the EvoQuip team. It achieves sales targets, has a strong online presence and is wholly invested in the EvoQuip brand. It is a partnership that will continue to flourish and grow, according to the company.

Speaking of the last five years, Barry O’Hare, business line director, EvoQuip said, “EvoQuip brings value to customers by providing intuitive equipment that is simple to operate and maintain, fuel efficient and easy to transport. User friendliness is at the heart of our brand and as new products have been developed, the focus has always been on simplicity and entry level customers.

“Since joining EvoQuip over two years ago, I have seen the business grow from strength to strength and we couldn’t do that without our global distribution network. It is with the dedication of the EvoQuip team and the relationships we have built with our dealers that has enabled us to grow and maintain our place at the forefront of the compact crushing and screening world.

“I’d like to thank our dealers and customers for their support over the last five years and together we look forward to the future. There are some really exciting, innovative products in the pipeline and with the help and expertise of our distribution network, we will continue to grow and dominate the global compact crushing, screening and conveying market.”

Volvo Expands Material Handler Line With New Models

Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the all-new EW200E material handler, aimed at the light waste handling segment. Its bigger brother — the EW240E material handler — is updated with a longer boom.

“A dedicated material handler is purposebuilt for these applications, compared with modifying an excavator to fit into these segments,” said Matthew McLean, product manager, excavators, Volvo CE. “Now we’ve added a second machine to our lineup with the EW200E MH, which is perfect for light and medium material handling like plastic, household waste and scrap.”

Engineered for

Durability, Productivity

The EW200E material handler weighs 22.6 tons and is powered by a Volvo D6J 6L Tier IV final engine that provides 173 hp (129 kW). The machine has three boom and arm configurations. The straight boom can be fitted with either a 13-ft. gooseneck arm or an 11-ft. 6-in. sorting arm, giving the EW200E a max reach of 33 ft. and a max lifting capacity of 25,600 lbs.

The 26-ton EW240E material handler, introduced in 2018 for medium-duty applications, now has a 23-ft. 9-in. straight boom, which is more than 2 ft. longer than the previous model. When combined with the existing 16-ft. 5-in. gooseneck arm, the new total reach is more than 39 ft.

Additional Features

The EW200E MH shares many components with the EW240E MH and other Volvo wheeled excavators.

Hydraulics matched to the Volvo engine allows the machines to find the sweet spot between engine speed and hydraulic efficiency. The boom float function and boom cylinder dampening minimize vibration and hold the grapple in place for increased stability. The grapple control and soft swing system work together for instantaneous response and smooth precision

In addition, Volvo material handlers offer application-specific features to increase productivity, uptime and operator comfort: • Option of four stabilizers (front blade and rear outrigger as standard) • Cab can be raised more than 16 ft. above the ground • Cab has double-damped mounts to reduce noise and vibration • Outriggers, blade and cab-raising functions can be completed without removing hands from joysticks • Factory-installed auxiliary circuits enable sorting grabs and orange-peel grapples

• Adjustable arm-in and height limitations • Comfort Drive Control provides the ability to drive up to 12 mph using the roller on the joystick • Can be ordered without the steering column, which allows the operator to control the machine using only the joysticks

The • Auto idle and auto engine shutdown to EW200E help to reduce fuel consumptionmaterial handler weighs 22.6 tons and is powered • Optional solid rubber tires • Optional waste package: protecby a Volvo D6J 6-L Tier tive screens and a reversible fan IV final engine that pro- • Optional Smart View feature vides 173 hp (129 kW). for bird’s eye view of machine The EW200E MH and EW240E MH are eligible for a free year of ActiveCare Direct, the Volvo telematics service that provides 24/7/365 machine monitoring and fleet utilization reporting directly from Volvo. In early 2020, Anton Sedlmaier GmbH, from Starnberg in Bavaria, decided to purchase the 33 ton (30-t) Rockster R1000S impact crusher. The first location is a largescale project in the center of Tutzing, where a 6-story Roche Group company building was razed to the ground.

With a team of 30 people and 50 years of history, Anton Sedlmaier GmbH is a wellknown address for any demolition and earthwork projects in the area of Starnberg and Munich. It is understandable that the Ehret & Klein planning office turned to the processing specialist from Starnberg when awarding the project in the center of Tutzing.

Old Tutzing Era

Is Coming to Closure

This large-scale project concerns the demolition and preparation of the last Boehringer building in the center of Tutzing. The pharmaceutical company had shaped this part of Tutzing near the train station since the second World War.

After taking over Boehringer-Mannheim in early 1998, the Swiss Roche Group also continued to operate for a few years. Roche closed the plant 18 years ago and subsequent attempts to revive it were unsuccessful.

In 2019, the demolition of the last building was ordered and a completely new area with clinic and commercial real estate is to be built.

Processing Demolition Debris

Until February of this year, Sedlmaier rented mobile crushers to process the construction waste. The purchase of the Rockster R1000S with hydrostatic drive and an inlet opening of 37.8 by 28.3 in. (960 by 720 mm) was an important step forward.

“Our machine operators are enthusiastic about the new mobile crusher, they praise the easy handling and the good accessibility for maintenance work. We are now much more flexible and efficient in processing demolition debris and natural stone,” said Sedlmaier.

The Roche processing project is a test of toughness for the crusher. Sedlmaier’s site manager Markus Falschlunger has now been in Tutzing for a year.

“The challenge at this construction site is on one hand the strong reinforcement of the concrete — a lot of iron was used in the construction of the building — on the other hand we are right in the center of Tutzing, where we have to keep the noise level as low as possible. “

The standard and height-adjustable magnetic separator of the R1000S crusher proved to be a valuable aid in the removal of iron parts. If necessary, the fine, earthy material is ejected with the hydraulically foldable side belt.

“We mainly produce 0/50 mm final product, which is used for the substructure. Because the proportion of coarse and fine material is optimal, the recycled concrete is well suited for road construction since it forms a solid foundation,” said Falschlunger. Machine operator Tobias Poschinger praised the fully hydraulic crushing gap adjustment of the R1000S: “I can easily set the crushing gap on the display, it is quick and uncomplicated. I also think it’s great that almost all the functions of the crusher can be controlled via remote control.”

At Tutzing’s best-known construction site: the Rockster R1000S crushes heavily reinforced demolition debris.

Demolition of the last Boehringer building in Tutzing. Top Service as Important Criteria

Not only the crusher itself, but also customer support and after sales play a major role in the construction industry, because downtime is simply too expensive. Due to Schlei & Birkert Aufbereitungungsanlagen Service GmbH, a Rockster dealer of southern Germany, the Sedlmaier team feels to be in good hands.

“We can really turn to Schlei and his people at any time for questions and get competent information and support immediately. The training was excellent and the delivery of spare parts also works perfectly,” said Falschlunger.

After the completion of the demolition debris crushing project in Tutzing, the crusher was transported to one of the two company-owned gravel quarries.

Sedlmaier was extremely satisfied.

“The performance with this highly ironreinforced concrete is very good. The crusher is compact and will also be of great support in the gravel quarry, where we want to crush granite to 0/16mm.”

Rockster dealer Sandor Schlei added: “With the Rockster R1000S, our customer has purchased a very sophisticated machine. Whether for his Recycling projects or in his gravel works, he can easily transport the crusher and use it extremely versatile.”

MDS International manufactures heavy duty and recycling trommels, apron feeders and conveyor systems (pictured left), a product range that complements other Terex brands such as EvoQuip (pictured right).

Terex Materials Processing (MP) announced the purchase of MDS International (MDS), a manufacturer of heavy-duty and recycling trommels, apron feeders and conveyor systems, based in Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

MDS was founded in 1995 by Liam and Una Murray, with a vision to design and develop engineering solutions to industry. Over the past 25 years MDS has built a highly skilled work force along with global distribution partners, and has a valued reputation for innovation, offering bespoke solutions to serve client needs with equipment that can withstand the harshest of environments.

This acquisition supports Terex MP’s growth strategy to expand its offering in the crushing and screening and environmental industries, with products that complement the existing portfolio.

Trommels from MDS are heavy duty trommels that will enable expansion into areas of the market that Terex MP does not currently serve. Additionally, Terex MP expects strong commercial synergies from this deal, as several Terex MP distributors already carry the MDS line, while others will be new to Terex, offering the potential to develop new channel partner relationships. MDS’ 34,000 sq. ft. facility will be the first Terex location in the Republic of Ireland, which diversifies its footprint and provides access to a new labor pool. Additionally, the facility is within a short driving distance to the Terex Dungannon and Omagh sites, providing ready access to Terex MP’s Northern Irish team and enabling close coordination with the resources at these facilities. The MDS facility and its highly skilled team members will be led by Conor Hegarty, general manager and business line director. Previously, Hegarty held the position of international sales director of Terex Ecotec, and his commercial background and product knowledge will be a huge asset as he takes leadership responsibility for MDS, the company said. MDS will remain a standalone brand along with Terex MP’s Crushing and Screening businesses including Powerscreen, Terex Finlay and EvoQuip. Terex MP will build on the momentum of MDS International’s long-standing reputation, continuing to develop the brand, its product portfolio and its distribution channels. Commenting on the announcement, Pat Brian, vice president, mobile crushing and screening, Terex MP said, “The addition of MDS to our portfolio of businesses will bolster our growth and improve our product offering. The business has been well managed, is on a terrific growth trajectory, and its heavy duty trommels address a gap in our own product lines while also having a lot of synergy with what we already manufacture and distribute.” Liam Murray, co-founder of MDS International said, “I am so proud of how MDS has grown over the past 25 years — to have a multinational company like Terex interested in our business is a testament to what we have achieved. MDS will now have the global resources of Terex to develop and grow it to new levels; I feel this is the right move for our business and team. This sale will also bring new levels of support to customers and dealers worldwide. I will always care deeply for our MDS family and will remain on board for a period of time, in order to support a smooth transition to Terex ownership.” For more information, visit www.terex.com. 

To harmonize the visual identity of the existing offering with the Metso Outotec organizational brand and to create a strong, unified and easily identifiable look for the new era, Metso Outotec will update the industrial branding of its whole product and service portfolio.

The new identity will clearly differentiate Metso Outotec’s offering by combining modern design with the powerful Metso Outotec brand colors and typography. Standalone brands in the aggregates business like McCloskey, Shaorui and Jonsson make an exception and will continue with the existing branding.

High customer value, sustainability and safety features are among the key criteria behind Metso Outotec’s industrial design and product branding choices. Metso Outotec’s Planet Positive-thinking also will be visible on the products: the more than 100 products already identified to have sustainability features relating to water or energy efficiency, reduction of emissions, circularity or safety will have a Planet Positive label attached to them.

The main color of the Metso Outotec products will be light grey, replacing the previous industrial product branding of both companies. A darker grey shade will be used as an accent color to bring contrast.
