The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) are building the $1.6 billion Wekiva Parkway (SR429) in sections, with the entire road in Lake, Orange and Seminole counties expected to be open to traffic by early 2022.

Crews in Three Counties Work on Wekiva Parkway Construction crews in three counties are continuing work on a 25-mi. toll road that will complete the beltway around Central Florida. The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) are building the $1.6 billion Wekiva Parkway (SR429) in sections, with the entire road in Lake, Orange and Seminole counties expected to be open to traffic by early 2022. “The need to finish the beltway around Central Florida has been discussed for about 30 years,” said Mary Brooks, public involvement coordinator of the Wekiva Parkway for both CFX and FDOT. “Everyone knew a transportation solution was needed, but there were significant concerns about how to improve mobility, while preventing harm to the environmen-

Goodloe Harper Yancey III, chairman emeritus and third dealer principal, Yancey Bros., died Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born Sept. 13, 1928, in Albany, Ga., Mr. Yancey’s Caterpillar career began in Albany where his uncle, Earle Yancey, and his father, L.D. Yancey, operated Yancey Tractor, serving as dealer principal and general manager, respectively. In north Georgia, his uncle, Goodloe Yancey Jr., operated Yancey Bros. Co. In 1947, Earle’s family sold Yancey Tractor, beginning a temporary, 55-year absence for Yancey Bros. Co. from the Caterpillar business in south Georgia. Mr. Yancey, however, continued his engagement in the business in north Georgia with his uncle “Mr. Goodloe,” joining Yancey Bros. Co. in 1954 as a sales trainee after graduating from the University of Georgia and serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
