C.R.C. Works to TransformAirport Into Wetlands Using Liebherr Excavators
Justin Lyerla (508) 824-3262
A driver on Interstate Route 95 corridor south, from Boston through Canton, Mass., into Pawtucket, R.I., may notice German-made excavators run by a local company. This partnership is a sign of international trade, commerce and satisfaction. C.R.C. Company Inc. in Quincy, Mass., has 34 years of road and deep marine excavation experience. The company has been using four Liebherr excavators for various projects along Route 95 — turning a former Canton airport into wetlands and rebuilding a closed Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) rail station in Pawtucket, among others. “We own four Liebherr excavators, two A924Cs, a 904 and a 954. We use them for a variety of things on a variety of job sites. Most of them have interchangeable attachments,” said Mark Henderickson, sales manager of C.R.C. Co. Inc. “We perform general and marine construction, and have been doing so for over 34 years. “We use the A924C to excavate and set seawall stone,

Bennington Appeals FEMA Decision Against Flood Wall Reimbursement BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) The Vermont town of Bennington has appealed the federal government’s decision not to reimburse the town for work on a flood wall after Tropical Storm Irene. The August 2011 storm damaged a levee between North Branch and Park Streets that had been built by the Army Corps of Engineers. Concerned that the damage could cause flooding, the town completed repair work that cost $214,000, the Bennington Banner reported. The Federal Emergency Management Agency rejected the town’s request for reimbursement, saying the corps was responsible for the work. The town said the corps was unable to respond quickly enough. “That was probably one of the most dangerous things.
So we have filed an appeal for that,” said Bennington Planning Director Daniel Monks. It’s expected to be several months before FEMA rules on the appeal. The town also is expected to appeal the amount of money it received for sediment removal from the Roaring Brook. “We’re still dealing with the sediment amount and armor issue. They just threw a number at it and didn’t look at the actual numbers. We have evidence about what we spent,” Monks said.
