The Richmond Bridge 29 project will replace the existing eight-span bridge, which is in good to poor condition, with a new two-span off-alignment bridge that matches the width of the corridor.

ECI Engineers Construction Inc. of Williston, Vt., is the lead contractor on the project, which has a budget of $20.4 million and is federally funded. The bridge is located in the town of Richmond in Chittenden County on U.S. Route 2 over Interstate 89. It is located approximately 1.9 mi. east of the junction with VT see RICHMOND page 16

Officials in Northfield, Mass., to Continue Funding Push for New Schell Bridge Town officials in Northfield, Mass., are continuing to push for funding to replace the Schell Bridge over the Connecticut River. In early September, they voted to send a letter to U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Secretary Pete Buttigieg seeking around $25 million for the project. The Recorder, a daily news source in nearby Greenfield, reported that Northfield’s effort to secure federal funding follows unsuccessful advocacy in 2022 and earlier this year to get a grant through the 2022 Rural Surface Transportation see BRIDGE page 14
