U.S. Marine Vets Find New Path With Corps Materials Hartford, Conn.’s, Mike Randazzo and Louis Sanzaro both grew up in the construction industry: Randazzo in the new home construction and excavating sector and Sanzaro in landscaping. Following stints in the U.S. Marine Corp — Randazzo served from 2010 to 2014 with a deployment to Afghanistan while Sanzaro served from 1999 to 2003 during the invasion on Iraq — the two decided to start a business. Corps Materials, which was founded in March 2016, started the way many companies do … with an old excavator. A wheel loader soon was added, and the friends got busy doing local site work and some material handling. Then came a truck, and their list of services grew again, as did a reputation for hard work and honesty. As the volume of materials that they handled grew, their need developed for a yard where they could stockpile both virgin and demolition materials, such as torn up asphalt and concrete that had to be pulled away from Mike Randazzo and Louis Sanzaro with their Volvo excavator, one of the centerpieces of their equipment fleet. jobs as they went along. Bell Trucks Names Quality Fleet Service New Dealer Quality Fleet Service, Inc., based in South Hadley, Mass., has joined the Bell Trucks America team. The company was in search of an articulated truck line to round out its heavy construction equipment offerings and Bell was a perfect match, according to Nicholas Moynihan, president of Quality Fleet Service. “From the service side of what we do, we are very familiar with Bell’s Mercedes engines and Allison transmissions, and we could not be more excited about offering this product to our customers,” he said. “We have serviced the Mercedes engine for years and it’s an engine that lives up to its name and reputation for both fuel efficiency and reliability — and Allison is the standard. If anyone is given a choice, Allison is what they are going to want to have in terms of a transmission and with Allison, parts

availability is never a question. “Bell gives us the full truck product offering that we need from 7-tons to 60tons of which two are tracked carriers,” Moynihan added. “We are looking forward to introducing this product to all of our customers in central and western Massachusetts.” Bell Trucks supplies articulated dump trucks to markets in the United States and Mexico. Its new E-series truck is packed with features that deliver production boosting payloads, lower daily operating costs, enhanced ride quality and safety standards, according to Bell. Connolly Brothers Inc. Completes HQ Walsh Working With for Harmonic Drive in Beverly, Mass. Baker to Expand Connolly Brothers Inc., a general contractor and construction management firm, announced the completion of the new $16 million corporate headquarters for Harmonic Drive LLC, a manufacturer of gearheads, gear component sets and servo actuators. Connolly Brothers provided pre-construction, design and engineering, and construction management services for the new 97,000-sq.-ft. office and manufacturing plant situated on a previously undeveloped six-acre site in the Dunham Ridge Business Park in Beverly, Mass. Founded in Beverly in 1960, Harmonic Drive relocated from two buildings in Peabody to its new U.S. headquarters. “We are excited to be back in Beverly where it all started,” said Doug Olson, CEO of Harmonic Drive. “Connolly Brothers was the perfect fit for our project given their 140year history in Beverly and their proximity to and experience with designing and building advanced technology facilities like ours. They were able to meet our stringent budget and schedule restraints, and deliver a high-quality building. We’re proud to be their new neighbor.” A three-story office building and light manufacturing/assembly space occupy 47,000-sq.-ft. adjacent to a 50,000-sq.-ft. high-bay manufacturing space. For the new headquarters, Connolly had to contend with more than 50 ft. of elevation change on the land while ensuring the space would address all of Harmonic Drive’s industry-specific concerns. “When it comes to a company that makes gears that have been used not only all over the world but out of this world,

on Mars and lunar rovers, we knew this project would come with some unique needs,” said Jay Connolly, president of Connolly Brothers. “That works well for us, as we’ve always avoided the one-size-fits-all approach in favor of custom-tailored solutions for our clients. It was a pleasure to work with Harmonic Drive on their new headquarters.” Recently, Connolly Brothers has managed the construction of a 100,000-sq.-ft. and 80,000-sq.-ft. office and manufacturing facilities in Beverly for KROHNE and HighRes Biosolutions, respectively. The two started a search process, investigating the many different portable tracked crushers that are available in today’s marketplace, and in the end, they ended up making the purchase of the Rockster R900 impact crusher. “There are just features with the Rockster that we could not find anywhere else,” Randazzo said, citing the ability of the impact crusher to be adapted to become a jaw crusher when the conditions call for a jaw. “When we get into extremely hard rock like granite or trap rock, we prefer to use a jaw approach to break the stone, and the Rockster gives us that flexibility.” Corps Materials’ history and relationship with the people at Equip Sales and Leasing also helped in the decision-making process.

That took so much pressure off us, particularly during our first attempt at crushing. As we moved closer to purchasing, their operator became our trainer. “Since we made the purchase, Equip Sales and Leasing has always been there for us, whether it’s parts or needing a service technician, they have never let us down.” And according to Randazzo, the crusher has run failure free, with the exception of situations created by human error. “Right out of the gate, the Rockster has been a center of profit for us.
