The heavy-duty XL Series of hydraulic rock breakers from Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based Mazio Attachments LLC performs in the most demanding applications — from quarries and mining, to tunneling and trenches, to demolition and more.
Designed for carriers from 1 to 140 tons of operating weight — including mini excavators, skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders and excavators — Mazio XL breakers will withstand the brutal conditions faced in these applications, providing reliable performance day in and day out, according to the manufacturer.
Mazio hammers feature a closed case built from 100 percent Hardox steel to protect the body from wear and impact. In addition, a number of standard features also lend to the breakers’ durability, including antiblank-fire technology, which minimizes wear; an energy recovery system that reduces the required oil flow; and the breakers’ doubledamping system that results in less vibration.
Variable impact speed and power can be manually tuned using an Allen tool, allowing the operator to adjust the breaker for correct productivity. A lower breaker speed provides greater power, while higher speed reduces the power, depending on the application needs.
All Mazio breakers come with a five-year warranty. They also are available with the company’s vibration-activated digital hour meter, which accurately measures the tool’s operational hours, differentiating from the carrier hours, ultimately providing better tracking for preventative maintenance activities and billable hours.
A 12-year integrated, sealed battery powers the meter as it automatically and autonomously tracks the tool’s impulse during operation, calculating its true work
hours. A fiberglass-reinforced heavy-duty rubber case protects the meter from harsh working environments. Mazio offers six XL breaker models for 30- to 140-ton mining-duty excavators, with tools ranging from 3.4 tons (3 metric tons) in weight and 9.8 ft. (2,980 mm) in length to 11 tons (10 metric tons) in weight and 16.4 ft (5,000 mm) in length. For excavators 11 to 36 tons, five breaker models range from 1 ton (.9 metric tons) and 6.7 ft. (2,050 mm) to 2.6 tons (2.4 metric tons) and 8.7 ft. (2,650 mm). For compact carriers, there are six breaker models available from 287 lb. (130 kg) and 3.2 ft. (990 mm) to 1,279 lb. (580 kg) and 5.9 ft. (1,800 mm). Tool choices for Mazio XL hydraulic breakers include: • Cone-shaped tool for universal use in concrete and rock • Chisel tool for rock breaking, concrete demolition and asphalt breaking • Cylinder tool for drilling and concrete demolition • Moil point for uniMazio hammers feature a closed case versal use in concrete built from 100 percent Hardox steel and asphalt to protect the body from wear and • Blunt tool for impact. demolition Mazio Attachments LLC is an Italian manufacturer of specialized attachments for the construction, demolition, recycling, mining, aggregates, excavation, scrap and forestry industries. The Arbor Day Foundation announced a partnership with ConExpo-Con/AGG and the International Fluid Power Exposition (IFPE), the largest construction trade show in North America.
Together the organizations will work to plant more than 130,000 trees, one for every show registrant, in U.S. forests of greatest need.
For the past 50 years, the Arbor Day Foundation has worked to plant nearly 500 million trees around the world. Through a vast network of partnerships, the Foundation facilitates projects that empower organizations of all sizes to reach their ESG, CSR and sustainability goals via measurable, impactful work.
“The opportunity to plant trees in conjunction with one of the largest trade shows in North America will have an incredible impact on our reforestation efforts,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.
Held every three years, ConExpoCon/AGG, IFPE attracts attendees from all sectors of the construction industry. The partnership with The Arbor Day Foundation is the first of many steps in helping reduce the industry’s carbon footprint and increase sustainability efforts at the show. In addition, ConExpo-Con/AGG’s education will feature 13 different sessions for attendees that focus on sustainability, including tracking emissions, recycling and carbon neutrality.
“Our show is about finding solutions to challenges,” said Dana Wuesthoff, ConExpo-Con/AGG show director. “More and more, our attendees and exhibitors are challenged to think of the greater good in their business practices.
“Teaming with an organization like The Arbor Day Foundation provides an opportunity to not only impact the ConExpo-Con/AGG and IFPE led reforestation project, but it also provides another connection for our exhibitors and attendees to work with to help navigate and align their business strategy and sustainability efforts in their communities.”
Attendees and exhibitors at the show can choose to make an additional contribution to the tree planting effort to increase the impact of the partnership. More information on planting locations and specific project details will be announced in the months leading up to the March 2023 show.

Mineral Demand Sparks Significant Uptick in Need for Mining Machinery
DEMAND from page 50 caused by both low production and the global nature of production, according to AEM.
Now, overdemand makes it difficult for suppliers to understand the true demand for their products.
“We can see this in our industries, not only from the OEMs and from the component manufacturers, but also from the end users of the OEMS,” said Duyck. “That, in short, is why we have supply-chain issues. Workforce, supply chain and all of it ties together and the results of policies and actions decades in the works set off by COVID-19.”
Supply Chain Is a Choker
In AEM’s most-recent quarterly survey, more than 95 percent of responding ag and construction equipment manufacturers said they are experiencing supply-chain issues.
However, last winter it appeared either demand was beginning to normalize, or supply chain signaling was improving, because 44 percent of respondents noted the issues are beginning to turn around, according to the association.
Further, the issues do not necessarily lie at the endpoint or receiving shipping, but rather at the supplier source — and especially international shipping, he added.
Supply-chain issues have caused many AEM members to fall behind, despite ongoing growth.
This situation could eventually lead to changes in inventory management, the survey found.
Duyck reported that the third quarter of 2021 saw inventory levels increase between 15 and 20 percent in both the ag and construction segments.
However, the ag side saw an additional 15 percent jump in the fourth quarter of last year.
“Whether changes in inventory management will actually take place has yet to be seen, but it’s quite possible that higher inventory levels will become more prevalent for some time,” said Duyck.
The bottom line, according to AEM, is that despite all the challenges, growth is still expected in the ag and construction equipment sectors, even at a slower rate than in recent months.
“Ultimately, the imbalance between supply and demand and COVID-19 restrictions eliminated all the inventory and the grease that allows the global supply clock to operate,” said Duyck. “Another metaphor that maybe hits closer to our industries is this: We’re running a machine that’s low on oil, and almost out of it. The machine will continue to run, and maybe even run for a while — until it doesn’t.” CEG BRANDEIS MACHINERY & SUPPLY COMPANY
