Scheduled to be fully completed in the spring of 2017, crews from Lunda Construction Company are working on the fifth and final section of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) Highway 610 design-build project that is extending the welltravelled road to Interstate 94 from the County Road 81 and Elm Creek Boulevard area in Maple Grove. Funding for the $80.7 million project was provided by the states Corridors of Commerce program, created in 2013 by the Minnesota Legislature. The program authorized the sale of up to $300 million in new bonds for the construction, reconstruction and improvement of trunk highways. The program is funding about 20 highway projects. “The new two-and-a-half mile roadway will fill in the gap between Elm Creek Boulevard and Interstate 94 in Maple Grove,” said R. Ind. Officials Scramble to Trump To-Do List: Fund Bicentennial Projects Airport Upgrades INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Indiana officials are scrambling to fund several bicentennial construction projects Vice President Mike Pence initiated when he was governor. Pence sought $53.5 million in new projects last year as part of the state’s 200th birthday celebration, the Indianapolis Star reported. The projects included a $2 million plaza at the Indiana Statehouse, a $2.5 million education center at the state library, a $25 million state archives building and a $24 million inn at Potato Creek State Park in St. Joseph County. Skeptical lawmakers allowed Pence

to spend taxpayer money on the projects after he assured them he could pay for projects by leasing space on Indiana’s 340 state-owned cell towers. Two years after those assurances were made, the state has spent more than $5 million on the projects, but a cell tower deal hasn’t materialized. Gov. Eric Holcomb is trying to find a way to fill the hole as he grapples with a $378 million revenue shortfall compared to what lawmakers had originally budgeted for this year. “We did the projects,’’ said Stephanie Wilson, Holcomb’s spokeswoman. “We

WASHINGTON (AP) President Donald Trump told airline and airport executives that he is interested in privatizing America’s air traffic control system and improving the nation’s airports and roads, which he called obsolete. Trump also promised to roll back government regulations and said he will announce a plan in the coming weeks to reduce taxes on businesses. But he sounded skeptical about raising fees that airline passengers pay to fund airport improvements. Airline and airport executives who emerged from the White House meeting called it a positive session. Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly told Trump the best way to help airlines would be to “modernize the air traffic control system.” He complained that money spent on the system has not improved it.
