had the great pleasure of interviewing Bob, talking about a variety of ways that personal growth and development tie into increasing our connections and the value we provide, resulting in impact and profit. He offers stellar advice for the ConsciousPreneur and leads us by example.

Simply put, he is an incredible human being.

For over 30 years Bob has been successfully showing entrepreneurs, leaders, and sales professionals how to communicate their value and accelerate their referral business.

His business parable, The Go-Giver, coauthored with John David Mann has sold more than one million copies and been translated into 30 languages. It was rated #10 on Inc. Magazine’s list of The Most Motivational Books Ever Written and was on HubSpot’s 20 Most HighlyRated Sales Books of All Time.

I am always curious about the journey that brought people to where they are today, so… that is exactly where we started. I asked

Bob if he could share a little bit about the journey that lead him to write the Go-Giver series. Bob shared that he found his niche in sales about 40 years ago, even though it didn’t start off that way because he had no formal sales training or experience. Naturally, this caused him to flounder for the first few months. In his determination, he began to study the likes of Tom Hopkins and Zig Ziglar. Within weeks, his sales started to go through the roof because he now had a methodology, which he defines as the process of predictably achieving goals based on a logical and specific set of principles. He then began to dive into personal growth and development, leading him into teaching sales. Bob said “ I realized that if I was going to become really proficient in sales, I needed to build myself from the inside. I think that success really begins on the inside and then it manifests on the outside.” It was his passion for personal growth that led Bob to write his first book Endless Referrals, a how-to book for building relationships. He then teamed up with John. David Mann

By this time, I was excited to learn what Bob wanted to share with the Conscious -community. I already knew he was aligned with the Conscious-Preneur community, and what he said next sealed the deal!

“Most people think that you either do good in the world or you make a lot of money” Bob’s message is the exact opposite! “The way to make money is to go out and do good in the world by providing value to others.”

So, how do we do THAT? Bob had the answer. Provide Value.

People don’t buy our products or services because of quotas, our need

to earn money or even because we are nice people. He said “They’re going to buy from you because they believe they will be better off by doing so than by not doing so.

This is great news for that person who genuinely wants to add value to the life of another human being.

Help people solve their problems.

Discover what they want and need and help them solve their problems.

Bob encourages the Conscious -Preneur to always take the focus off of themselves and focus on the value we can add to the lives of others.

Once we have done that, we have made difference in their world and a difference in the world, including our world. Giving in this context simply means constantly and consistently

providing immense value to others.

Bob and I both agreed that this is not only a fulfilling way of conducting business, but it is also the most financially profitable way.

This is in line with his latest book, written along with John David Mann, The Go-Giver Influencer which talks about nudging the world forward, through our products and service, as entrepreneurs. “By and large, our business is an expression of our highest values.” How powerful is that!!!!

I personally believe that we live a fulfilled life if we are living in alignment with our values the things that are important to you, so I asked Bob to expand on this topic. Bob shared a story from his friend, Lisa Earle Mcleod, author of Leading with Noble Purpose and Selling with Noble Purpose.

Lisa was interviewing a top-selling pharmaceutical rep who shared a life-changing moment that occurred in a physician's waiting room. She was approached by a patient who thanked her and the company for giving her life back as the medication allowed her to play with her grandkids and enjoy life again. This sales representative told Laura that she was no longer in the field of selling pharmaceuticals, but she is in the business of giving people their life back. Now that is adding value!

I shared my belief that when we discover the true value we provide and we realize that this value is aligned with our own values, we start showing up differently because our energy shifts. Bob agreed and added that this energy then transfers to the client and they know it. It is then that they know they are doing business with someone who has a purpose, a reason for what they're doing.

At this point, I was super excited to learn about the one piece of advice that had the largest impact on him.

The answer was a mic drop moment.

In his early days, he worked with an older man who never said much, but when he did, it was meaningful. Bob recalled the advice fondly and it went like this: Burg, if you want to make a lot of money in sales, money should not be your target. Your target is serving others, when you hit the target, you will get a reward in the form of money and you can do with that money whatever you please.

Remember the money is the reward for hitting the target, it is not the target. The target is serving others.

Bob’s takeaway: great salesmanship is never about the salesperson, the product, or the service, it is really about the other person and the value you are looking to provide another human being. It's about making another person's life better because of you.

Always take the focus off of yourself and focus on the value you can add to the lives of others.

Conscious leadership is a necessity in an information age, but do you know conscious leadership when you see it? Or when you’re living it? This is not just another buzzword. Consider the following: A CONSCIOUS LEADER IS AWAKE AND PRESENT!

The Conscious Leader has extraordinary self-awareness and the agility to act congruently with what’s happening. They have a strong ability to be present. You are probably thinking of some leaders you know who have an impactful presence.

They shift the room when they walk in.

Consider this: In the moment, conscious leaders ask themselves: ● How am I showing up right now? ● Am I here and present? ● Am I allowing my emotions to flow easily or am I withholding? ● Am I leading for the good of all or for my personal agenda because my ego is here? ● Am I congruent with what this business situation needs? ● Am I avoiding or creating conflict? ● Am I conscious of my actions or running on autopilot?

An awakened human being investigates in order to tell the truth.

Are you in business to make a profit? The answer to this should be yes, so why do so many business owners feel like it is ‘wrong’ to make lots of profit?

I

don’t know about you, but I do not work my butt off each month so that I can break even! My aim is to build a successful, profitable business that can support my dreams and goals for myself and my family, to help others and to have a lot of fun along the way. It is my Why, my Purpose!

I want to live a life that is worth living!

And I imagine you do too!

Creating wealth when you are purpose-driven enables you to help others.

When most people think of profit, they think of money. Profit is, after all, the main motivator for businesses and their shareholders.

However, profit doesn't have to be limited to just financial gain. In fact, when profit is redefined to include all forms of value creation, it can become the engine that drives businesses and society forward.

Profit is often seen as a dirty word because it's traditionally been associated with greed and exploitation. But what if Profit became synonymous with generosity and sustainability? What if businesses stopped thinking

about how to maximize profits for themselves and instead focused on creating value for others? There's a lot of value in reimagining profit to include other forms of gain, such as social or environmental benefit.

And profit doesn’t have to be a dirty word. Profit can be a force for good when it's used to create value in all forms. It's important to remember that profit is not the enemy; it's how we use it that counts. When profit is reimagined to include other forms of gain, it can be a powerful tool for change.

Traditionally profit is defined as the difference between the amount of revenue and the amount of expenses in a business. In other words, it is the "line" that separates the total revenue from the total expenses or what is left over after you subtract all your costs from your revenue.

The goal for most of us is to make profit, which can then be reinvested back into the business or distributed to its owners. While profit is essential for a business to survive, it is important to remember that not all profit is created equal.

A business can generate profit by cutting corners and sacrificing quality, but this profit is usually not sustainable in the long run as it does not value the customer. So now I want you to Reimagine Profit. What if we did not ‘only’ think of profit as a financial construct. We talked earlier about including other forms of ‘Value Creation.’

What if Profit was about creating more positive gain in your life. What if you were to consider the equation like this; Your revenue/income is the

money you earn and the benefits you gain from running your business.

What benefits or gains are you creating for yourself by running your own business? Is it to be your own boss and create more time flexibility or is it a longer-term benefit of financial freedom for you and your family, or something else entirely! This income/ revenue is necessary to support the growth and operations of your business as well as supporting yourself.

The expense would then be classified as the time, effort, stress, and input into creating that revenue.

When you deduct the Expense, from your Revenue, you are left with your PROFIT. As an entrepreneur, it's important THE

to find a balance between work and life. Working too much can lead to burnout, and not enjoying your personal life can make work feel like a drag. It can be easy to get caught up in work and neglect your personal life, but it's important to make time for both.

It's all about finding a balance that works for you. For some people, that means working hard during the week and taking weekends off to relax.

For others, it may mean working longer hours during the week and then taking an extended break every few months. The key is to find what works for YOU and then stick to it. A healthy balance between work and life will help you be more productive and successful in both areas. You'll be able to devote more time and energy to your work if you're not stressed about neglecting your personal life. Similarly, you'll be able to enjoy your personal life more if you're not constantly thinking about

work. Creating a work-life balance as an entrepreneur can be a challenge, but it’s worth it and is essential to your success.

Knowing your purpose really helps with this. It's easy to forget your purpose when you're bogged down with the day-to-day and we can lose sight of our goals and end up going through the motions without any real purpose. But if you take a step back and remember your "why," it can be a powerful motivator. Why did you start this journey? What are you trying to achieve? What problem were you trying to solve? Keep your purpose at the forefront of your mind, and it will be easier to stay focused and driven, even when times are tough. Then when you achieve success, it will be that much sweeter knowing that you accomplished your goals because you were following your purpose.

Back to that equation. In your business, you should be aiming to create more Profit. Your Revenue/ Gains should be greater than your Expenses/Input and therefore the aim should be to create a life and business where your revenue is greater than your expenses. You want to get out more than you put in and you do this by aligning with your purpose.

So no, you don’t have to feel guilty about making a profit! Build a Purpose-driven business, where you are creating value for others, and you will see the profits both financial and personal.

Did you grow up wanting to be a salesperson?

Probably not.

Me neither.

just evaporate as you realize that you must focus your efforts on marketing and sales?

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Nothing in your training prepared you for this undertaking.

If you’re a bit like me, your plans changed as you matured.

It’s not enough to have achieved your level of expertise and competence. None of this matters if you don’t figure out how to find new prospects and convert them into paying clients consistently.

And now you’re a full-fledged professional, having taken many courses and passed all the requirements. Far from your mind was the idea that to practice your craft, you would have to SELL yourself!

Ugh! Did you notice that SELL is a 4-letter word?

Perhaps that’s how you feel about the act of selling.

Many people have a stereotype about salespeople as being pushy, aggressive, manipulative, and downright unethical.

None of these qualities are very desirable, especially for a professional.

And yet, as Mary Kay Ash, founder of the famous cosmetic line, said: “Nothing happens in business until someone sells something.”

It’s true.

The first step in providing your services requires a sale.

So how hard can this be . . . this matter of selling yourself?

Your circle of friends and family know how special you are. Ask them to spread the word and your schedule will be filled with people eagerly wanting your services.

If only that worked!

Because you’re selling yourself, at some point in the sales process, you will have to have a conversation with potential clients to see if it’s a good fit on both ends.

This is why you need to acquire some skill in selling.

And it may entail letting go of your preconceived ideas about salespeople.

The first step in providing your services requires a sale.

The second foundation stone of the No Pressure Conversational Soft Selling(™) System is to speak naturally as if to a friend.

This is actually harder than it appears on face value.

Since most prospects are often someone new to your circle and your relationship is tentative and just forming, it may feel unnatural to speak with them as you would with someone you’ve known a while.

To overcome this awkwardness, some people memorize scripts that tell you what to say word for word.

While having an outline and a clear understanding of what to convey is an asset, if you sound like you’re

The third principle of the No Pressure Conversational Soft Selling(™) System is to adjust your communication to match your prospect’s buying (personality) style.

Chances are that you’re familiar with one of the over 200 personality systems such as DISC, Myers-Briggs, words, colors, objects, animals, birds, dogs, and fish.

Research has shown that each person has a natural tendency to process information and speak in one of four ways.

ou can find this advice among ancient Hindu scriptures, woven into Chinese, Aztec, and Iroquois cultures, in the old and new Testaments, the Koran, the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, and at any personal and professional transformation seminar.

Celebrating life through an attitude of gratitude recognizes that the choices being made, both big and small, aren’t easy, and it is important to always take a moment to be thankful for all that you have.

Every time you reflect upon what you are grateful for, it creates a positive reinforcement loop that helps build momentum. The beauty of this mindset is that it can be applied to every aspect of life.

DO YOU TAKE THE TIME TO CELEBRATE THE LITTLE VICTORIES IN YOUR LIFE?

Practicing gratitude celebrates the small things in life and puts the focus

on the positive all of the time. Start by celebrating gratitude before you go to bed each night. Once you’ve done that for a week, add a morning gratitude reflection, then three times a day, and then whenever you think about it. What happens with this attitude of gratitude is that you make more space in your life for the things that matter most. It will foster a gratitude mindset. Since 75% of our thoughts are negative by human nature, reflecting on positive outcomes is an important counterbalance to negative emotions. If 10 things happened to you today and only 1 of them was negative, you’d remember the negative one! It’s backed up by research, too. So, you have to actively seek out the positive. You’re more likely to recall those days where it seemed like nothing went right. You may have had a hard time getting up in the morning because you woke up with neck pain, or perhaps you got a flat tire, or you jumped on the scale and found out how much you really gained during COVID lockdown!

This empowerment leads to momentum. It is more than simply going for a walk or eating a healthy meal.

Here’s an easy way to make this happen. Make a list of all of the things you’ve done in life that’s given you a sense of accomplishment. This is a partial list:

That rush of excitement when the Dean shook your hand on stage and handed you your diploma, when the new puppy licked you for the first time, when your newborn child wrapped his tiny hand around your pinky. Dr. B.J. Fogg, who wrote “Tiny Habits”, calls that feeling “Shine”. It’s a rush of one of your brain chemicals, such as adrenaline, oxytocin, and dopamine. When you recall the scene where you felt this,

Having a choice, once again feeling empowered, desirable, is the first step. Momentum comes from capitalizing on the achievements you celebrated in your darkest moments.

Otherwise, you’re stuck suffering with getting on the scale tomorrow with that same dread.

you create a brain chemical dose. It’s one of the reasons it gets locked in your memory.

WHEN YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF “SHINE” BY RECALLING THESE EVENTS, YOU ARE REINFORCING THE MEMORY AS POSITIVE AND REWARDING.

You get to choose how you celebrate, but some ideas include dancing, fist pumps, high-fiving your kids, taking a deep breath, and smiling. It really doesn’t matter, as long as you allow yourself to revel in your sense of accomplishment and FEEL the sensations associated with it.

Let’s use this as a brain hack to create momentum with new habits.

It works!

Keeping track of the numerous little moments of gratitude in your life can have a positive and sustainable snowballing effect. Imagine this: All of these gratitude moments you keep track of are a baseball-sized snowball. Because it is so small it is challenging to push. At first, you must get down on your hands and knees to push the snowball forward to keep it moving. Despite the difficulties, you focus on momentum. When you celebrate another moment of gratitude you keep the ball rolling.

As you keep going, gradually the snowball grows larger, and it is easier to push. Before long, that snowball is the size of a boulder. These are all of the gratitude moments you’ve counted and celebrated. You can actually stand back and marvel at how well your behavior is driving your progress. It all starts with the

attitude of gratitude. Keeping that momentum going longer is easier because it doesn’t need you to get down on your hands and knees, now it only takes a gentle push.

Instead of considering all of the things you want to change with dread, look at them with gratitude.

Reflect on the tiny victories you’ve already achieved. It will develop an “attitude” muscle that allows you to tackle your challenges with courage and ease. Keeping the list of accomplishments in mind, you’re ready to take your next. Each choice makes a deposit in your life bank account. Be grateful for your sense of purpose, which is your compasskeeping your choices built on a foundation that’s strong. Where fear and discomfort has stopped others, you see nothing but opportunity.

Every day is a new day filled with numerous little victories. Adding grit, or sheer determination, to your outlook on life can also enhance your

success.

It’s easy to forget celebrating gratefulness in your life. For everything that you complain about, all the bad things, imagine how much more positive your life will be once you start practicing gratitude. You will start seeing all these opportunities for appreciation will expand and become more and more.

You can become a much kinder, gentler, and more friendly version of yourself when you are full of gratitude.

Chances are, if you are reading this, you identify as a conscious entrepreneur.

I

t's an exciting arena to work and play in. Undoubtedly, the more businesses that exist that strive to make the world a better, more caring and compassionate place, the better will be the quality of all our lives. That is the basis of conscious entrepreneurship: we love what we do, we strive to make the world a better place – for customers, employees, ourselves, and society at large – and we earn money doing it.

For conscious-preneurs, money is an important but secondary motivation.

Yes, profit is necessary, and riches may come of it, but for the true conscious-preneur, it is not the driving reason or motivator for what we do. We do what we do because it fulfills our need to live purposefully, to do meaningful work, and to make a positive impact on society that transcends the value of the product or service itself.

There is, however, a key aspect to conscious entrepreneurship that cannot be overlooked.

Doing what we love in order to make a meaningful difference in the world is a top priority. But the most conscious of the conscious-preneurs go beyond that. We recognized that business itself is an inner game, and the quality of our inner game is the heart and soul focus of the conscious entrepreneur.

A true conscious entrepreneur is

not simply a business owner who does what they love and who has a product or service that betters or uplifts people's lives. It's more than that. It is a businessperson who actively cultivates self-awareness as part of a practice of continual personal and spiritual growth.

A conscious entrepreneur recognizes that what truly matters is their inner reality and state of consciousness. The business is an external expression or vehicle by which they are can learn to embody higher potentials of selfhood.

What is paramount is what is going on inside of them in each moment, through each day, in each situation, and how that inner reality expresses itself through their 'way of being and doing': from how they manage, lead and communicate, to the organizational culture and operational systems they create.

Every one of those aspects of a business comes to life as an expression of the entrepreneur's inner state of awareness and level of consciousness.

The conscious-preneur recognizes that ultimately, the quality of their inner reality makes a profound difference in the world, far beyond the impact their product or service itself can ever have.

Doing what we love in order to make a meaningful difference in the world is a top priority.

That's quite the paradigm shift, I know.

We are taught from a young age that it's what we do and create that matters greatly. Fame, fortune, recognition and reward, all come to those who can outwardly show that what they do matters. How many entrepreneurs has the world produced who have created lifechanging products but who were often wretched people to live and work with? They lost sight of (or perhaps never saw) what matters most; caught up thinking it was the thing that mattered more than who they were being.

The conscious entrepreneur recognizes that personal growth matters beyond all else because everything they create and do is an extension of their inner reality.

If there is a fear of failing within them, that will extend itself in some way into the culture of the organization. If there is great ambition within them, that can lead

to living at a manic pace, damaging relationships and well-being along the way. If there is a need to be in control or dominate, that impacts how well they manage and lead. If there is greed within them, that can manifest as manipulative marketing and sales systems. If they have a need to be right, that will influence how openly people share creative ideas or critical feedback.

Conscious entrepreneurs may have a tremendous desire to do meaningful work and to make a positive difference. We may have developed amazing products and services born of that desire. But all of it diminishes in existential value when the way we do business each day comes from a less-than conscious, less-than aware state of mind and being.

It happens when we lose sight of the paramount importance of the inner game and fall into the trap of believing that it's the external thing

The stories you are about to read are filled with wisdom and inspiration.

T

hey reflect the journeys of two survivors, both of whom came from abusive homes, and who had tumultuous relationships. They overcame their turbulent pasts, and are now following their passion and purpose to impact lives across the globe, by making others happier and healthier.

Meet Dr. Inge Wetzel. Although Inge’s mother blamed her for the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her own father, Inge was able to use her mother’s aptitude for natural remedies to achieve her own dream to help others live healthy, happy lives. Part of Inge’s mission was to disprove the statement “there is nothing you can do about your health, except to take medications.” She became a board-certified naturopathic doctor, as well as a certified herbalist, aromatherapist, and kinesiologist.

Her impressive body of knowledge has enriched the lives of her clients as well as her own life!

Next up…. meet Alan Newell, who said he felt like “a mental failure” as a result of an abusive upbringing.

He went on a mission to prove his parents wrong and created a successful life. He owned his first restaurant at the age of 24 and was a founding member of Lone Star Steak house by the age of 30.

However, by the time he was 55,

he was a stressed-out, overweight, unhealthy man who found himself having to start over again after his divorce. Alan’s brothers and uncles had all succumbed to cancer and heart attacks, and Alan knew he was headed in the same direction. When his father passed away at age 64, and Alan’s 13-year-old son shared his birthday wish that “I just want you to get healthy, so you don't die like Grandpa,” Alan found a fresh focus - health and nutrition - and his new passion was to change lives.

With Alan’s experience, many companies offered him a 25K sign-on bonus; unfortunately, their practices did not align with his morals and values. When he met Eddie Stone, the CEO of Touchstone Essentials, he learned about Stone’s vision of impacting the world. Eddie didn’t offer a sign-on bonus, but he did tell Alan that if he shared this vision, he would love to have him on board. Dr. Inge Wetzel grew up in poverty, in a broken home where sexual and emotional abuse was present. This kind of trauma continued into her first marriage. At 29 she met Jesus; at 34 she was divorced with two children. At 35 she met my current husband in church and three months later they were married.

I asked Alan if he could share his thoughts on personal growth and development as a leader. He said that we all have “red light” stories that are taught to us, based on others’ concepts of our limitations.

Inge also provided some inspiring advice: “Don’t let your past dictate your future.” This means that your past does not define you, and it has nothing to do with what God has put into you. Your gifts, passions, and the things you value are not coincidental.

ALAN NEWELL

Alan Newell grew up in a troubled home, with an abusive childhood. Armed with a GED, Alan married at 20 and became a father at 21. At that point, Alan felt he was a "mental failure", but he had a drive to prove his parents wrong and create a successful life. Alan started out washing dishes in the restaurant business and owned his first restaurant at 24 years old and became a founding member of Lonestar Steakhouse at 30. Today, Alan is the leader of a 10 million-dollar direct sales team teaching and challenging people to disrupt their selflimiting beliefs and start believing and achieving their wildest dreams.

Alan closed with a powerful statement. He said, “When you imagine an amazing life, God is actually whispering to you about what is possible.” He encourages others to bring their subconscious thoughts and beliefs to the conscious level, by speaking about them in their daily lives.

It's important to be around others who share your passion. So I think beauty in that sense is about an emerging fullness, a greater sense of grace and elegance, a deeper sense of depth, and also a kind of homecoming for the enriched memory of your unfolding life.

just love this expression of O’Donohue’s. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly and suddenly in 2008, but his profound message about the importance of Beauty and The Beautiful lives on. I’ve been so moved by his philosophy, his lovely words that I’m taking a big leap into a thrilling new adventure, which has O’Donohue’s work as the grounding and earthy core of it all. Before I spill the beans, though, I’d like to share a few more of his words, from his book, “Beauty: The Invisible Embrace - Rediscovering the True Sources of Compassion, Serenity, and Hope: These times are riven with anxiety and uncertainty, given the current global crisis. In the hearts of people some natural ease has been broken. … Our trust in the future has lost its innocence. We know now that anything can happen, from one minute to the next. The traditional structures of shelter are shaking, their foundations revealed to be no longer Stone but sand. ... Politics, religion and economics and the institutions of family and community, all have become abruptly unsure. At first it sounds completely naive to suggest that now might be

the time to invoke and awaken beauty. ...there is nowhere else to turn and we are desperate; furthermore, it is because we have so disastrously neglected the Beautiful but now we find ourselves in such terrible crisis.

In a sense, all the contemporary crises can be reduced to a crisis about the nature of beauty.

When I first read this last sentence, I felt something simultaneously crack open in my heart and click together in my mind. The elegance of the solution he suggests appeals to me greatly because it simultaneously offers a refreshing look at the role of the artist within this precarious climate of uncertainty and a singular, focused and graceful solution. Here we are, two years into a global pandemic, the end of which remains elusive; around the globe numerous conflicts, violent and terrible, are roiling. So much of our media promotes ugliness and hatred, greed, an endless consumption that never satisfies our hungry souls, the worst parts of our human being.

In the hearts of people some natural ease has been broken.

The mission of the school is the restoration of Beauty to its rightful and necessary place at the heart of communities and cultures around the globe. I understand as O’Donohue did, the power of beauty to balance us, to restore our trust and reconnect with the embrace of the Beautiful. Beauty completes us.

The school will offer a variety of resources for learning about and engaging with Beauty through a slowly growing array of resources; reading and study groups, talks, classes both in person and online, community experiences and so forth. I believe that we are all creative beings and that our great

work is as Life Artists, who’s job is to create the life we most need, want and desire. The school exists to help you heal and feel restored to yourselves, by giving you a place to come to when your heart may be weary and your soul and spirit tired, and when you are shining brightly with light of celebration that comes from following the path of your own sovereignty, doing the work that lights you up because it is solidly in what Gay Hendricks calls, your Zone of Genius. Creating a Purposeful Calendar that Aligns and Supports Your Top Priorities “Here is a link to my calendar. Just schedule a time that works for you.”

As entrepreneurs, how often do we say this to clients, prospects and partners? We make it so easy for people to block off a portion of our day for a specific purpose.

Once booked, we set an expectation that the desired outcome will be achieved, during that time; and this becomes our priority.

Just as we make time and set agendas for others, we must do the same for ourselves. If we do not set our own agendas for the day, it is easy to become distracted, stressed and unproductive. The day’s drama pulls us away from our purpose leaving us to feel burntout, overwhelmed and emotionally drained. This negatively impacts us personally and professionally and detracts from the life and business that we are working to create.

It is time that we take control of our calendars. We must fill our calendars with purposeful activity that aligns with both our professional and personal goals. Here is how you can begin to take control of your calendar and use it to succeed in the week, months and years ahead…

Review the upcoming week. Pick a designated time; like Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon (any time that works for you where you can be distraction-free), go over your week -commitments, meetings, appointments, etc., and ask yourself the following questions: ● Do I have all that I need to show

up and be present for these commitments?

● Is there anything that I really

need to say no to? (Remember, it is beneficial for everyone when you say no to something that is not for you.) ● Are there any activities or

responsibilities that I could leverage out to someone else? ● What support do I need to start

and finish the week successfully?

Create non-negotiable time and space for yourself each morning before you launch into action.

During this time, you could practice: ○ Movement: You can engage in gentle movement like yoga or stretching, dancing to your favorite song, or going for a walk to get your blood pumping and oxygen moving to your muscles. ○ Meditation: This is practice in observing your thoughts.

The objective is not to stop your thoughts; rather, it is to practice observing them without getting hooked on them. ○ Journaling: Writing is very therapeutic ,and is a wonderful way to bring order to your thoughts.

When your thoughts are just floating around in your head, it feels unsettling. When you see the thoughts on paper, you can start to see your thought patterns, emotions and behaviors. This gives you the opportunity to make choices about what you want to lean in to or let go of with clarity.

○ Inspirational Content: Give yourself time to take in new inspiration or information. Choose content that will expand your thought process or remind you of what is most important to you right now. ○ Set your intention for the day: You can take out your calendar and visualize each of the daily events as if your best self were participating in them.

In this space of quiet, you may experience emotions that you may or may not know the story behind them. It does not matter.

All you need to do is observe your experience and allow the emotion’s energy to move through you without resistance. As you allow the energy to flow, you will notice that it will naturally subside. Use your breath to move through it.

This practice will help you become your best self while giving yourself grace for who you are right now and appreciate the self-growth process.

Taking charge of our calendar is one of the most effective ways to take control of your results.

While it may feel counterproductive at first to take more time out of your day, you will soon find that these activities and exercises will actually help you to take control of your calendar. You will have energy and motivation to make the most productive use of your time and prioritize the events that will best support your goals!

Taking charge of our calendar is one of the most effective ways to take control of your results.

As you get into this practice, notice where you are still saying yes when you really want (or need) to say no.

hese mindsets are diametrically opposed and will likely dictate whether or not you live out your purpose and enjoy a fulfilled life. When we believe that life is happening to us, we suffer from a victim’s mindset. On the flip side, if you choose the perspective (and it is a choice) that life happens for you, you will have the mindset of a victor - a high-performance mindset.

My personal growth and development path didn't start until several seemingly insurmountable obstacles were placed in my way. This is when I really began to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. When we face trials and tribulations, a choice lies before us. We can go down the rabbit hole of stress, doubt, anxiety, and fear or we can create a crisis strategy to weather the storms of life in a more resilient way, resulting in greater peace, calm, clarity and focus.

Being intentional about this decision is imperative. What you focus on, expands; what you think about, you bring about. Change your mindset, and you will change your life. This may not be easy - in fact, it usually isn’t and yet, it is attainable.

How can I make these statements so confidently? Their truth was borne out by my own transformative experience.

There was an extremely challenging period in my own life, when I was close to giving up. If God had placed me in the path of a 14-wheeler, I was ready to accept my fate. It wasn’t just one bad month, or a difficult year; it was an entire decade, which I now fondly refer to as the “Decade of Transformation.”

Those ten years included divorce, losing my relationship with the three incredible stepchildren I helped to raise, and the loss of a business. I lost two investment properties and declared bankruptcy. I was in four car accidents, moved four times, and walked in on my home in the midst of a robbery. In addition, I had to cope with the loss of a career that had spanned twenty-three years, which was a severe blow to my identity.

As if this weren’t enough, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer, which ultimately claimed his life. I

also witnessed an accident that killed my dog. Beyond this, I received the crushing news that my friend and former roommate had committed suicide. It seemed like blow after blow that created an incredible amount of anxiety, and there were days that I felt like I was about to stroke out.

Although this was an extraordinarily painful time, it was the impetus that propelled me to where I am today, and the crucible that began to forge the person whom I’ve become.

At one point during that decade, I was having dinner with a friend, who asked: “What if you are not going through this for yourself, but for others who are watching you, and who may need your help later? What if you can have an impact on them?” These questions completely changed my perspective and planted the seed for the personal growth that was to come later, when my willpower and resiliency began to flourish. This one conversation changed the trajectory of my life I soon discovered the formula that revealed my new purpose (Gifts + Passions + Values + Name Meaning = Your Purpose), which has served as a compass that points to nothing less than my true self, as I help others grow and succeed.

However, there was still a major problem. I was carrying a ton of bricks around, and they were starting to get really, really heavy. What are bricks? Negative residual emotions, like anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt and shame. Yep, I was lugging around every single one of those suckers as if I owned them and they were weighing me down. Don’t get me wrong, to the outsider, everything appeared fine, but the inside was messy. The other bricks showed up in the form of Gremlins or negative limiting beliefs. These were the nagging voices in the back of my head that would pipe up to cut me down when I started to feel confident or undermine my accomplishments by pointing out my weaknesses. Trust me, this little voice can stop us from letting our light shine and achieving the greatness that is our birthright.

How do we gain these limiting beliefs

and residual negative emotions? It’s a process that happens over the course of a lifetime and I explain it like this: When we are born, we are indifferent to how loudly we cry or to who changes our diapers; we are simply, unapologetically present, and the concept of others’ judgment doesn’t occur to us. Soon enough, though, we encounter the disapproval of people around us. Damage is done through cruel words and treatment, events in our lives and these experiences pile up like bricks, weighing us down as we hold onto each one. Self-doubting phrases like “I am not good enough to…” or “I could never hope to…” all burden us as we try to move forward.

It wasn’t until I discovered Mind Power Coaching, which is deep unconscious mind change work, that I was finally able to let go of my own limiting beliefs, and negative residual emotions, putting an entire decade’s worth of bricks down one by one. This doesn’t mean we are not impacted by the events in our lives. It means we have crisis strategies for experiencing them and moving through them, with greater resiliency. This is when my world really began to open and my own business began to soar. Not only because I was showing up differently, but because I could now help others set down their bricks, and unlock their full potential, allowing us to focus on business coaching, with mindpower coaching tossed in as needed.
