A Message from Our Team
2020 allowed us to collectively think about our future and reflect on what is essential as humans. The earthquakes, the pandemic, and all the other challenges Puerto Rico has lived through this year have made us realize how much we depend on each other to survive and move forward. This year we also learned a lesson on the importance of compassion and its ability to transform lives. Thank you for supporting us during one of our most challenging years yet. Collaborative Impact Grants (CIG)
CIG Model To help social impact initiatives on the Island reach their full potential, ConPRmetidos developed the Collaborative Impact Grant (CIG) program, which provides technical support, philanthropic funding and access to a network of talented individuals that are eager to help. We start by identifying existing challenges across the island’s NGO sector, namely: communities working in silos, local organizations duplicating their efforts or competing for limited resources.

Improving the Island’s Coffee Farming Productivity

Harvesting a Brighter Future for Vieques’ Bioluminescent Bay

Historical Trust Vieques’ main tourist attraction is Mosquito Bay, one of only five bioluminescent bays in the world. The Bay promotes economic activity through tourism and stimulates the development of small businesses that cater to these visitors. Its unique ecosystem is also of interest to the scientific community. Tourism in Vieques was severely affected by the 2017 hurricanes and by the COVID-19 Pandemic. There have also been many setbacks in the Bay’s mangrove rehabilitation due to the COVID-19 Pandemic government shutdown.

Aiding our Communities during a Global Pandemic For ConPRmetidos, it is very important that communities are safe and healthy. In the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we distributed 700 KN95 masks to communities served by our grantees: Conservaciรณn ConCiencia, ACUTAS, Bosque Modelo, Causa Local, and Plenitud PR. Last month, nonprofit Until We Do It reached out to ConPRmetidos with an interest in distributing free masks to vulnerable communities on the island. This organization has mobilized to care for populations across the United States that have been underserved during the crisis. The reusable masks will be delivered to the families that are members of the 11 Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.

What is El Comeback? We are excited to announce the launching of ConPRmetidos new program, El Comeback. The project aims to help Puerto Rico’s economy move forward by retaining and bringing back talent to the island. The primary goal is to attract professionals and talented individuals interested in finding exciting career opportunities, while building a better Puerto Rico. Our pilot program will focus on technology-related positions because there’s a consensus among local companies that this skillset is a pressing need.
