By now calving for 2016 is well underway in Alberta for most farms. As a producer our seasons vary in succession from feeding, calving, seeding, haying, harvesting and beyond. Bull season is now. Bull season can be a hectic time of year for both the buyer and the selle r. We, the Hwy 16 consigners, are eager to show you our bulls for the sale.

As our philosophy states “they have been fed to grow not to show”, giving them more time to mature into longer lasting bulls for your investment in your program.

We at Hwy 16 have very similar calving objectives as you; be it calving ease, performance or bloodlines, you can find the genetics you are trying to improve on in your herd s. We are offering you a great opportunity to come and source out new genetics. With the continued optimism in the cattle industry today, the beef industry will progress mor e in the next few years than it has in the last 50. D BAR C BLACK MUMBO 801U “Carbon” has been a stand out since day one, exhibiting tremendous amount of muscle shape and length of body. 31C has an attractive front end that ties well into a strong top and square hip. 31C came off the cow weighing 1010lbs, making him the heaviest of our bull calves this year. His dam, 137X has been a no miss cow no matter how she is bred! “Carbon” was shown successfully in the Alberta Junior Simmental Show being crowned Champion Bull Calf and Reserve Champion Bull overall.

He then went on to be second place in a very competitive class at Farmfair International. “Carbon” has a great disposition and is very easy to work with. Homo Polled/Homo Black results are pending. We would like to retain the right to draw in herd use semen.

We strongly believe with the philosophy of our sale “Fed to grow not show”, our bulls maybe a bit lighter than most bulls you will see in the sale catalogue’s coming to your farms. This year our bulls are growing well and look very much as they should. They are from two different styles of sires but still quite similar. 2015 was a record setting year for market prices for the commercial cattlemen who were selling cows, calves and bulls. As well the yearling prices were outstanding!

In our pens this year we have some bulls from EV Red 5X, OAR Yogi Bear 55Y and we are excited to announce a new gene pool from CK Triple X 45M. This bull goes back to the 1990’s and we are happy to have him on board. He is a red bull with a large frame, good feet and body conformation. His calves are quiet and grow very well on the cows.

Another out cross on the cows sire. Brushpopper was imported from the USA and unfortunately did not get to perform much in the field due to an injury early in his years. We were able to purchase all of his semen and are very pleased that we did!! His progeny has thick top lines and great foot structure.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Sellers. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. Bulls can be kept at the consignor(s) farms until May 1st at no charge. After May 1st, a charge of $2/day will apply. Buyer must fully insure their bull if the bull is going back with the consignor.

RIGHT AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Manager.
